    Front/parking at Cafe Perks

Breakfast. What they save on ambiance and a fancy setting, they put into the food? Well, the toast was good. But the Greek omelet was undercooked and I've never had one with pepperoncini in it - usually lamb, onions, feta cheese and maybe olives or tomatoes. Strange because they just get chewier when cooked. And speaking of cooked, most of the potatoes were quite good but there were a few in there that needed a bit more time on the grill. And the tzatziki sauce had lumps in it. Service was mostly attentive. The one waitress was understaffed as the counter area was full from locals all chattering on with her.

I visit Cafe Perks pretty regularly. The prices are great and they offer a pretty reasonable variety of breakfast and lunch options. I grew up in a Thai household and we didn't really eat the typical American style food for breakfast. I really didn't give "breakfast foods" (eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits etc) a try until I left home. As a result, I have never really craved that kind of food in the morning. That is part of the reason I enjoy going to CP for breakfast. Here I am able to have breakfast with a cohort and while they load up on all their favorite breakfast items I am free to order something non-brekkie like meatloaf, a gyro, or fried fish, for example. I love their green beans and also their collard greens with pepper sauce. I typically upgrade one of my sides to onion rings. If you're a fan of biscuits and gravy, this place serves up a massive heap of the stuff. The atmosphere is super relaxed. Seat yourself. Many meals or 6 or 7 dollars! Super reasonable pricing and generous portions.

Two eggs with a side of home fries, toast and 8oz. Corn beef hash

I came here looking for an inexpensive breakfast in Sanford. Price was great. I ordered Two eggs with 8oz. Corn Beef Hash with home fries. It came with a side of toast. It only cost $7.49. Taste was very basic not really the best but decent enough. Very quick service. Of course, there are way other better breakfast places. I had to go due to a friend saving money.

The view from where I parked

I have been meaning to come here for a while after a friend recommended them. Well today I needed to stop by the produce market to get some collard greens to make for Thanksgiving. My best friend and I love to frequent mom n pop diners so we decided to drop in for lunch today. From the outside the place is just very plain and if you are not looking, it is easy to drive right on past. As you get near the entrance, the Breakfast and lunch specials are posted on white boards. We walked inside and the place was virtually empty. To the right is the counter and there are booths throughout the rest of the dining area. The counter and table tops have seen better days and so have many of the seats in the booths. The menu is HUGE... Way too many decisions to make for a place that is only open from 6 am until 2 pm. You expect a menu like that in a 24 hour diner but in a place that is basically open for breakfast and lunch it is an overkill of a menu. I looked thru the menu and between the small print and tons of choices, it was simply overwhelming. We ordered coffee and I took a stroll around the place so I could snap off a few pictures. Our server was very pleasant and knew that menu inside and out so I can only assume she's been there a while. I have to admit she really made that place special during my visit. My best friend ordered from the breakfast menu but I chose to try something new since my server raved about the burgers. I chose let her decide what burger to try and it came with a side of Fries and coleslaw. To be honest, I did not feel like trying to read thru their novel of a menu. Our food only took about 15 minutes and my burger looked great. It had bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickles. I added some mayo, mustard and ketchup and as you can see from the pic... It was a nice sized burger. I have to say... That was one VERY tasty burger! The fries were just your basic frozen french fry and the coleslaw was just your average coleslaw. Service - 5 Menu - 1 (Print is small and the choices are endless) Atmosphere - 2 (counter/tables/booth seats need some attention and the place is dated) Coffee - 4 Burger - 5 Fries - 3 (Fresh cut fries are always preferred over frozen fries) Coleslaw - 3 (Generic slaw mix with some pre-made dressing) The service was top notch and that burger was great but the dining area is showing its age. The menu is printed in a tiny font and is overkill for their hours. Nobody wants to struggle to read a novel of a menu when it is a breakfast/lunch diner. I will be back to check out the breakfast offerings and based on what I saw being delivered to the booth behind me, expect a good breakfast...

Had to get bloodwork done at 6:30am, so afterwards we were close to here and craving breakfast, so it was a no-brainer to stop in here. Having been born and raised in Mississippi, I am always on the hunt for some good southern homestyle cooking and I for sure found it here. First, everything about the outside and inside of the restaurant reminded me of all the lil mom and pop restaurants I was raised going to. Great nostalgia for me. Now was the food going to live up to what the place looked like?? YES! So I went in craving breakfast and then what did my little eye spy on the menu? An open-faced roast beef sandwich and they service breakfast and lunch all day? Well, yes, please and thank you! Forget brekkie, I went straight for that open-faced roast beef with fried and all of it covered in gravy. OH MY! I'm talking this is the kinda food that (as we say in the Deep South) makes you wanna slap your momma! The bread was piled high with fresh roast beef. The fries were steak fries which are my favorite. The gravy topping everything was just the chef's kiss to set everything off! So many things I want to try on the menu, but I think it's going to be a while before I order anything other than that open-faced roast beef! Hubby had scrambled eggs, toast, hash (his fav brekkie food and he asked for it crispy - they delivered), and breakfast potatoes. He said everything was great and that it's the best hash he's had. I have never been a fan of hash, but I always try it. This has I would definitely eat. It was good. Can't say I'd order it myself because I'm just not a fan, but if this is the breakfast that was served to me, I definitely wouldn't turn my nose up at it. Anyway, two big thumbs up from hubby. Wheelchair friendly. Clean restrooms. Great service from our attentive and sweet server. Food came out very fast. I also much mention the Diet Coke. You know how some are just better from certain fountains? Yes, this was one of those cold fountain Coke's that was just so good. It really hit different. I ordered water as per usual because I try to not drink soda too much, especially while I eat, but hubby mentioned how good it was so, of course I had to try it. He was right. Very good indeed. If you are in the area, don't miss out on this lil restaurant. You will not be disappointed! The only negative thing I can say is they are only open until 3pm on weekdays and only until 2pm on the weekends. Guess that's a good complaint though. LOL Sure wish they were open for dinner too b/c we'd really be eating here a lot!!

We started with cheese curds and both decided on sandwiches. I did a tuna melt on rye with Swiss, my sister ordered the market club. Both were delicious. Fries, tots and onion rings are side choices. Daily specials and soups are available. The service was spot on, def a place to become a regular at! Can't wait to go back and try something else.

My husband and I have not been to downtown Sanford but recently did come for a friend's birthday. She wanted to hop around different drink spots and have dinner. Since we carpooled, parking was better. We were able to find street parking. There is no designated parking for this spot. We got there very early and decided to stop here. We ended up coming back later with everyone but we enjoyed it. This is a small bar with standing room only at the bar but then they have a huge back area with lots of bench style tables and seating. Their drink menu is also very large with tons of beer options to choose from. They offered a wide range of beers, craft beer, stouts, ciders and more. I am not a huge craft beer fan so I struggled. I ended up telling the bartender what I like and he had a couple of suggestions. He also let me sample one of the ciders, which I ended up getting. I choose the Cider Boys Strawberry Cider. Really great, not overly sweet just very tasty. My husband loves craft beer and will always look for one with a high ABV. He went with the Voodoo Where our Secrets go Stout Imperial from Pennsylvania. It had a high ABV and was a dark beer, he really enjoyed it. Both times we sat outside. The second time we came over, was later in the evening and more full than the first time. They also had a musician singing, which made it extremely loud and very hard for our group to chat. Overall this is a great spot. If we lived closer I could see us coming here more frequently. We do not find ourselves visiting Sanford a lot but if we are in the area, we would for swing by again. If you live closer, I would highly recommend coming here for the vibes, the ambiance and the beers. You can also bring your dogs which is a nice touch. My only negative is there is not food to order. I would love some bar snacks or pub style food. You can bring your own food in but it would make this an A Plus if you they served food.

One of my favorite things about it is that it hasn't changed much over the years, but in the best way. It's family-run, the vibe is comfortable and familiar, and the staff has always been amazing. We've had countless dinners here with big groups (10+ people), and they deliver every single time. That kind of consistency is rare. What I order every single visit: Salad with house dressing, it's honestly one of my favorite dressings anywhere. Loaded Buckskins - You have to get these. Think a cross between a steak fry and a potato wedge, loaded with cheese and bacon, addictively good. Petite strip steak - Perfect portion, cooked and seasoned just right every time. Simple, consistent, and exactly what you want. They also bring out warm brown bread with your meal that just hits, and a side of applesauce that I've come to think of as the perfect little palate cleanser, such a simple touch, but it makes the experience feel even more classic. This is one of those places that feels like home. No frills, no trends, just really good food, great people, and decades of consistency. This will absolutely be a staple for me as long as I live in Sanford.

However, the restaurant was busy, families eating, people laughing, sometimes the locals know, it's one of the locally owned restaurants, not a chain. This is a good sign. I'm all in on the local, hole in the wall places. Our Server and our service was excellent.
