So disappointed. After being a customer for decades, I was told my egg and veggies (no cheese no meat) sandwich was considered specialty today (it wasn't yesterday or the day before‍) and would be $14 instead of the $6.50 I had been paying. So my 2 egg sandwiches were $28 because they had no meat or cheese but tomato and lettuce instead. When I refused, the woman in charge (did not recognize her) told her employees to never let me order again. Go elsewhere. The Vermont aspect is gone from this place. I miss Jamie's! read more

This place has great reviews and lives up to the hype!! The wife and I stopped in this place and we were blown away by how great everything tasted. Such a cute little shop too, and yes it's quite busy but don't worry, they are very fast and efficient. While you're waiting for your sandwich watch at how quickly the girl making those sandwiches works and be amazed. That BLT was amazing, the chicken salad was incredible but the soups were omg out of this world. We both finished every bit of our meal and we were lucky enough to get a patio seat on a nice, fall day too which made our lunch even better. And for better or worse we had absolutely no phone service at all in this location (we have AT&T) so our lunch was peaceful and quiet with no interruptions!! Highly recommend and definitely try one of the soups of the day!!! read more

The reviews for this are incredible, so I'm thinking we stopped here on a bad day...? Because our experience was not great! We waited forever for our takeout order despite there only being a couple other customers. They kept making orders for new customers but appeared to forget about ours from awhile. The "Vermont fog" coffee drink was delicious. My boyfriend had a standard sandwich that he reported was decent. I got a grilled cheese sandwich and somehow it was the worst grilled cheese I've ever had in my life. I don't even know how that's possible. It was almost impressive. read more

Beware of false advertising! The so-called "homemade" oatmeal is NOT more than rolled oats in hot water. Awful! Sticky like cement. Homemade makes it sound like it would at least be steel cut oats! The food and coffee were fine, but the staff seems to have wandered in off the street without any experience or enthusiasm. We waited 10 minutes for our order to find that the ticket was sitting there without anyone in the kitchen noticing it. Then when we got our coffee, the order was mixed up. A remarkable deli right on Main Street in Stowe, Cafe on Main was a convenient pit stop on our way home yesterday. We we're looking MF for a place where we could get a decent sandwich and get on our way quick, and this fit the bill perfectly. The sandwiches were excellent. Fresh breads, good produce, and quality meats make for a solid lunch on the go. Their chicken salad was really tasty and I really liked their house balsamic mustard. It was a small deli but there were some tables and a counter to sit at. Looked like it would be a great option for breakfast sandwiches, lunch, salads, soups, and baked goods. Their sandwiches are huge, but they also will make half sandwiches. Prices are what you would expect in Stowe, but warranted by the quality of what you are getting. Very good food! First time here and I got the bean burger and a side salad. The salad was fresh and I think the bean burger was homemade and it had a great chipotle mayo on it. The service was pretty good. The woman who took my order was nice and helpful but the younger woman at the register was a little surly. She tried giving me someone else's BLT instead of my bean burger and seemed irritated with me about her own mistake. The atmosphere was not great. We ended up at a larger table with other people and so it was difficult to have a conversation without being overheard. The food was really good so I'll definitely be back. read more

Great friendly place! Went at the end of June, so outdoor seating available. Reasonably priced for breakfast sandwiches and not too greasy. Got the cafe egg sandwich that comes with egg, bacon (or sausage) and white cheddar cheese. Comes with lots of egg and the bacon still holds it's crispy crunch. Would recommend if you wanted to take a quick bite on Main Street. Also got the maple walnut cookie which was delicious! read more

The soups are always amazing. The kids love the baked goods and the service cannot be beat. They have been super friendly to me and my children EVERY TIME we go. The chef is funny and knowledgeable and the ingredients are fresh and delicious. You should try all the soups before buying (probably all of) them. Seriously delicious. There is street parking in Main Street, and some more spots around the side of the building. While this place can get crowded and therefore the wait can be a little long (it's a small space with limited staff), I was very happy with the food I got (the chicken salad is especially good). But, when I was there, due to the crowd or new staff, a lot of orders were getting messed up (not mine, though). Some people were given extra sandwiches that belonged to another party; some people's food was just forgotten or the order was wrong. So just be vigilant when ordering and getting your food to go! read more

We had a great lunch. I had the soup and sandwich. The soup was chilled gaspachio and I had a half cranberry turkey toasted. My wife had the best chicken salad she has ever had. My soup and sandwich were also supurb. To top it off I had a macadamia nut and cranberry cookie which was also delicious. Their selection was outstanding and they had a huge variety of bottled drinks in addition to the usual fountain variety. The food was less than average. I got a grilled cheese that was literally black which they assumed was alright to serve to a customer without hesitation. It was disgusting - see picture. Low quality food, anger from a staff member because of a couple of questions solidifies the fact that we should have stayed in the 40-45 minute wait at Butler's Pantry instead. Pressed for time we tried this place, absolutely regret it and would advise others to stay away as well. We stopped in for a bite as it was the only lunch place open on the street. I ordered a gluten free sandwich and was asked if it was an allergy. I told the server yes and then watched her prepare my sandwich right on top of the crumbs from the previous sandwich, which immediately contaminated my meal. When asked to remake it, she said "well it didn't say gluten free on the order," despite being the one who asked me if it was an allergy. The sandwich was extremely dry and the service was so unfriendly it ruined any positive opinion I would've had about the meal. read more
