After a long drive from New Hampshire, having an "oh wow" lunch at the Minifactory was a pleasant surprise! The little citrus sparkling water drink I ordered was dressed up with mint leaves and orange slice, a nice touch. I ordered the misomusto sandwich and was not prepared for the mammoth mountain of goodness that arrived. Rarely does a vegetarian sandwich have the flavor and robustness of this one. I couldn't finish, as much as I tried. Service was quick and friendly. The sunlit space is very inviting and I love the mural on the wall. It's always nice to see a business keep the original tin ceiling tiles. I see some comments complaining about the price and maybe it's because I'm from the Seacoast region, where prices are comparable if not higher for the quality of the food. Food - all homemade, all delicious. I've never had a less than perfect dish. Service- good. It's the classic case of trying to balance paying for staff coverage but it's nearly impossible to predict how busy it will be. Lately (2025) the wait has been much shorter. Ambiance- cozy, friendly, welcoming. This IS my go-to place to meet friends or get a bite on the weekend. Love Mini!! read more

Bit pretentious, no warmth welcoming vibe one is used to in Vt, so I tend not to come in here unless I'm desperate and no one else is open. I could not love this place more. The care and thoughtfulness with which everything is prepared, the thoughtfulness and vision with which it was designed, the airiness of the interior, and most of all the food. It is truly remarkable the way they have blended the completely new and innovative while simultaneously fitting into the old Vermont neighborhood in which they are located. Some of the hardest working people I know in the restaurant business. And complementing it all, V's homemade jams, so deliciously and thoughtfully made, each with a truly unique taste and each so different than the other. Without taking anything away from their thoughtful and interesting meals, if it were possible to survive entirely on bread and jam, this is the place to do it! read more

This was a fun spot for quick lunch. The setting is bright and open with a modern feel. They have baked treats which looked good. We wanted a protein and salad so opted for the chicken salad and a salad. The food is very healthy and all ingredients fresh. I didn't love the chicken salad but for sure, it was healthy and well made. The salad itself was nice. Sitting by the window watching the activity at Bristol was fun. read more

Avoid at all costs. Long wait times and staff that treat you like you are bothering them. The location is beautiful and has great potential however the people working and the product ruin it. Used to be a place for everyone, now it is a pretentious and cold location. I have given it many tries in an attempt to buy local but just cannot support this business. read more

This exquisite new cafe and jam kitchen lights up the center of Bristol's Main St. with bright yellow chairs, wooden tables, expansive counter of delicious pastries, excellent espresso drinks, a grocery area full of fresh, local and rare ingredients for cooking as well as drinks and food-to-go. The ample, open space has long been a community gathering place known to locals as 'The Bakery' or 'Bristol Bakery', and V Smiley's update of it is so refreshing, thoughtful and uplifting. It functions as a cafe as well as the place where V Smiley's 'Good Food Award'-winning jams are made. The food is pretty exquisite...I loved my huge salad with freshly boiled egg and my friend had a generous bowl of yogurt and honey-sweetened apricot and raspberry. The menu seems to expand and change often, and they talked about adding a dinner service. Highly highly recommend. read more

Lovely bright space. We had high hopes. Weird systems for ordering, getting food, paying for food. Unusual mini Bloody Marys. Almost an hour to get cheese toast and meatball sandwich. Food wrapped up "to go" even though we had ordered it "for here". Cold meatballs. Returned sandwich with warmer meatballs with zero words from server from kitchen who had been seen sauntering around the place with no sense of urgency. Pretentious and overpriced. Service is absolutely awful as well. Food is mediocre. Bristol Cliffs was for everyone, this is for the elite.

This is a classic case of gentrification ripping the heart out of a community. The bakery had been a meeting place for generations of people who lived in the town & neighboring towns, and had always been welcoming to other folks just passing through. A diverse array of people stopped there to get a coffee on the way to work, meet friends, hold informal meetings, or get a bagel or bread on the way to ski. I could go in after having lived abroad for 20+ years and run into my 2nd grade teacher or a best friend's mom. Now, they serve oysters and expensive salads to people who use the area to collect photos for social media posts (and ruining the local swimming hole btw). This is not a bakery, nor a welcoming place for the working people who live here. Things change, yes of course. But why is it OK to commodify something that was truly special, that used to keep a genuine community together? Why not provide for the needs of people who actually live here? read more

Food isn't great, especially their ham and "egg" breakfast sandwich. Didn't taste like real eggs or ham and their sweet tomato concoction was terrible. It reminded me of some of the food you might find in the movie Vivarium. The menu isn't what you would expect to find in a town like Bristol, bold move on their part. The food continues to be absolutely fantastic. I don't know what they're doing back there, but magic is happening. That being said, I always have a peculiar experience when eating here. They never seem to know what kind of service they want to provide--table service? seat yourself? Is it a restaurant or cafe? The employees often seem confused themselves as they consistently forget where to deliver food or if the table who has been loitering in the corner even got food in the first place. Furthermore, while the food is indeed always delicious, it usually takes quite a long time to come out and I've had multiple experiences where it takes an hour+ to receive our food because they forgot we ordered anything. I think they might benefit from some sort of strict service structure because right now it's all over the place. To end on a high note, the space is lovely (don't get burned when it gets sunny outside!), the offered provisions are fresh and super natty organic, and I love their coffee and the vessels they come in. read more

I can't believe anyone would rate this restaurant as anything but a 5+. I've eaten here three time and each time has been truly sensational. The food is locally sourced and beautifully prepared. Every soup, salad, biscuit, sandwich, pastry and herbal tea I've tried has been outstanding. I also love that the owner has tried so hard to be ecologically responsible, using cloth napkins, avoiding plastic, and working to use organic and fair trade sourcing of products. The cinnamon buns are to die for. But if you want to watch your waistline, try one of their scrumptious salads or soups. This place is simply not to be missed.
