i built my own "hot sandwich" at the bakery it was cold and not toasted the "maple ham" tasted horrible and there was some sort of tomato or pepper puree on my cheese and the cucumbers were dry also my "butter spread" looked and tasted nothing like butter my dad didn't like his ceaser salad either the rest of my family liked their blt's though don't recommend at all as a picky eater read more

This place has really gone downhill. They start closing down 30 minutes before the door is officially shut. Sometimes they won't even serve coffee at that point. Physical setup is not as nice as it used to be. No apparent management that cares how things are done. read more

If this place aimed to make you feel as unwelcome as humanly possible then it succeeded. The woman who served us literally was wearing a shirt that talked about having an attitude, so I guess she at least was aware of how unpleasantly she treats guests, but it was comically awful. The cupcake frosting tasted like it was made of soap. Even my 5 year old could f eat it. I mentioned it to them and they clearly couldn't care less. Terrible visit. Chaotic waiting area. Rude service. Before I stood in line I asked the staff if they had bread loaves and they said yes. After I finally got to the front of the "line" I paid for a loaf, a coffee, and a pastry. They took the loaf back from me and said they needed it for sandwiches. i went on a sunday around noon and ordered a vegetarian banh mi and chocolate pinwheel. it was VERY busy when i went and i had about a 45 minute wait. people who ordered after me got their food first, even though my sandwich was just vegetables (this is my reasoning for giving 4 instead of 5 stars). the food was REALLY good, with fresh vegetables and flavorful pickled vegetables. the bread was fresh and tasty. the chocolate pinwheel was also very good. if you're looking for a sit-down place, though, especially during the winter, maybe pick another place as they have limited indoor seating. overall i would definitely recommend going here, but maybe try to avoid popular times if you don't want to wait as long as i did. read more

If you come here prepare to wait a minimum of 30 minutes for your sandwich, no matter how crowded or long the line is. I went here when it was crowded and my friend waited an hour for a sandwich that never came. The staff is rude. All they serve for breakfast are paninis, which is just grocery store wheat bread with egg. It's horrible. Not even a decent panini. The pastries are always stale and they never have normal options in stock (like a croissant, chocolate croissant, or cinnamon roll). Everytime I go they only have weird pastries left, like orange, lemon, etc. Oh and the sweets are horrible. The macarons are a joke. They're not real macarons. These people don't know how to make a decent pastry. I hate this place lol. I have gone several times now due to the lack of options and trying to give it a decent shot but every time I am disappointed. Go to Middlebury bagels. It's 10000% better. Or Royal oak coffee. Pretty much every single thing I have tried here has been fantastic; from the otter paw, to the coffee, to the cookies. The employees are so nice and so friendly and ready to answer any questions you might have. The place is nice and clean, with tables throughout outside on different deck and porch areas. The staff will bring your goodies that they warm up out to you and do it with a smile. The only issue I had was with the ham and cheese croissant. The croissant was SO good (perfectly flakey and buttery and YUM), but there was zero cheese in it. It had all melted out. So, I had some warm ham in a croissant, which I don't find tasty at all. I gave it to a friend, so it was enjoyed. I would reccomend trying wrapping the ham around the cheese and seeing if maybe that would help? Another person in our group got the same thing and they had a little crust of cheese on one corner of their croissant, but that was it. But don't miss out on this spot, seriously. That's the only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars - it's definitely worth a stop in and enjoying the variety of scrumptious goodies they have! read more

Yummy pastries! It can get crowded sometimes inside but that's to be expected! The people who work here are incredibly rude and the food ... well, I got a tuna wrap and the wrap was so stale it was breaking apart. Crispy. Asked for a knife and fork to eat at least the inside and was directed to TINY plastic forks and knives that were useless. Was told that "real" silverware wasn't available to customers! Friendly employees and a huge selection of pastries and sandwiches. My boyfriend ordered coffee and a coffee cake, and we grabbed a puppy biscuit for our dog. I came back for lunch and ordered a vegetarian sandwich on sourdough, which I forgot to ask for toasted! Cold, it was mediocre/soggy and I only ate half. We were staying for the weekend on Lake Dunmore and it was my wife's birthday. Not a big fan of supermarket cakes. Maybe because of they have about 37 ingredients, one worse than the other. We stopped here on the way back from camping and it was just what we needed. Nestled in the tiniest little college area, this bakery had good breakfast sandwiches for us to eat and run. Had lunch here with my family on the advice of a local resident. The baked products looked good, although the breakfast pizza on display looked pretty skimpy and unappealing. If I had cooked that, I wouldn't be proud to display it. The selection of sandwiches was small, and the combinations were not always appealing. The bread in our sandwiches was good, but the young staffers did not have it together. An order for a salami sandwich was, first taken as "salmon" and, when it did come out, there wasn't much salami. When we complained, they fixed it, but how do you send out an order like that and expect a satisfied customer? More adult supervision seems called for. If cuteness is what you're looking for, maybe this place is for you. If you need a place that can reliably put out good food, skip it. read more

My bf and I entered, overwhelmed and excited by the selection. There were so many different pastries and we couldn't decide for a while but ended up getting some kind of tart, a bear claw kinda thing and an almond croissant (yeah, I feel fat just thinking about it, lol). I also got an iced americano and he got an iced chai. My americano was fine, not great, and disappointingly, his chai was just the tea bag variety, which was watery and not very flavorful. The pastries.. oh, the pastries. How can you go wrong? ..well, they did. Neither of them really tasted very good. Everything was very dry and even the tart didn't have a nice pastry cream but a very thin layer of what was supposed to be pastry cream, followed by a dense, brick of a tart. Super charming little bakery in the heart of this college town. Went twice with my friend, since their veggie sandwich were delicious. At lunch time they can get crowded, so be patient.
