Had dinner here tonight and wanted to share. Friendly staff, delicious food and vacation atmosphere (you really will feel like you are in a different place.) We had jerk chicken wings (huge and delicious), Mango shrimp with a tasty salsa, amazing oxtail and jerk pork with callaloo and plantains. We left stuffed and impressed and will return for sure. Went there with my daughter we Shared the hush puppies which were very good. Then she got the fried chicken with mac and cheese and fried plantains. I got the traditional jerked chicken with coconut rice and collards very tasty the chicken was a little heavy on the salt but the other spices excellent would def go back to try the plates. The food was very, VERY bland and dry. They put almost no gravy on my order of oxtails and curry goat. The oxtails are the most bland oxtails I've ever had. The reviews are misleading. This doesn't taste anywhere near authentic Caribbean food. Also the Mac and cheese is very ordinary, almost bland. The food is soooooo over priced for such a small portion of flavorless food. I ordered today with coworkers. I have to say this was the best Stewed Chicken meal that i ever had. The Stewed Chicken and Gravy was full of flavor. The takeout from this spot is so good I hate to even tell you about it. The lovely chef inadvertently left out one dish, the fried chicken. The rest of the food was delicious: oxtail stew, salmon, mac and cheese. The chef added a bottle of mango carrot juice on the house which was very refreshing. Let me start out by saying I purchased a Groupon and once I got to the location I wasn't able to use it. I have never experienced this before with any of my groupon purchases. There was signs posted with no real explanation as to why it couldn't be used. I still decided to support the restaurant. Food was delicious staff was friendly however I am now out of $15 as Groupon won't refund me and this establishment wont give a real reason as to why they wont accept the Groupon. I just think as a new business owner this is an unfair way to treat your customers. You should at least let them apply the $15 towards their meal just my opinion.It makes me not want to support your establishment anymore. read more

This place is amazing! I was driving by and noticed the grand opening sign. I was actually on my way to another Jamaican place but decided to to try this spot on a whim. We had the oxtails and curry goat. One of the girls in my office is Jamaican and tried my rice and peas with the oxtail. She literally got teary eyed because it transported her home. The curry goat seasoning and tenderness was pure heaven. Even the rice and peas were terrific! I also recommend the fresh mango punch, it's an island vacation in a cup. Decent jamaican food at a steeper orice than usual. You can usually get tgis kind of food at half the price.

My one complaint about this area since moving out here from the city is that there is no good caribbean food. I'm used to having a plethora of options, so, when I saw the Jamaican flavored menu at Cafe MoBay, I got excited. My wife and I picked up from here last night. We had a jerk pork sandwich, fried chicken sandwich, beef patty, and sweet plantains. Everything was delicious. In fact, I might go back tonight to try some other items. Found this place while searching yelp for resaurants near me. I was excited to visit as my husband and I are always in search of good Jamaican food in New Jersey . I really wanted to like this place but left slightly disappointed. Atmosphere was small and a bit cold- even though there is an automatic heater that seems to blow every 15-20 minutes. Staff was friendly but inexperienced. Wait time was also a bit long and we were only one of five tables. Okay, the food...uuumm- what I will say is that being a Jamaican from a line of great cooks, and living many years in Brooklyn, New York with a variety of Jamaican restaurants, I was not impressed. My husband -an American that loves our food was also not impressed. He ordered curry shrimp with cabbage and white rice and I had the jerk pork. I was not aware that it would not be served with any rice and was glad I ordered the side of Mac and cheese. Also, another dissapointment was the carrot juice I ordered. Thinking it was authentic Jamaican style carrot juice, I got a guava-carrot drink instead. I know they are fairly new and need time to grow and make improvements but for now I give them 2 stars. We will possibly patronize again in a few months as I heard there's a live reggae band once a month. Hopefully I can give a better review. read more

I did not even get to taste the food here. This review is about the horrendous customer service. I placed an order through seamless. Got a confirmation that my food would be delivered after the original time window I received. However, I was willing to look past that because my sister told me how great the food was. Fast forward over an hour later and beyond my promised time window, I notice a missed call on my phone. There's no message so I call back. Goes right to a generic voicemail. I get a call from that same number a few minutes later and it's the restaurant saying they are out of one of the items I ordered. They claim to have been calling but I never got a message and the number they were calling from was not the number of the restaurant. I ask what happened to the rest of my order, they say..well we never confirmed it. But yes you did...I have a confirmation email and everything. So can I still get the rest of my order? Their response, well you would have to place another order. What?!?! I don't understand. Needless to say, I will never frequent this restaurant and I encourage you to stay far away. There are plenty of REALLY good West Indian restaurants in the area. The risk of such poor customer service at this one isn't worth it. read more

The restaurant decor was warm and welcoming and the chef and hostess were very sweet and friendly. They paid good attention to us and the other guests. It took a bit of time to get our food but everything was hot when it came to our table and delicious. I had the Jerk chicken with coconut rice and callaloo and my friends tried the Island jerk pork and the mac and cheese and the plantains and collard greens. Everyone loved their food. The portions were generous but I ate my entire plate without stopping and still felt great afterwards, without feeling bloated or sleepy. The chicken was flavorful, cooked well without being dry, and not oily or greasy. The amount of heat was perfect without being painfully spicy. The coconut rice was both sweet and savory without being too much of either and the callaloo was the perfect side to the chicken and rice, adding a different texture and flavor. It felt like someone had prepared me a home-cooked meal with healthy ingredients and I would come back again. One tip: come a bit earlier so you can wait while the food is prepared without being super hungry. The food is made fresh and I don't think they have a lot of staff yet so it takes time. Well worth it when it comes though. read more
