Came for the first time this past Friday and I'm glad that I did! I feel like not being from this area, if you blink you will miss this place! The music is loud and makes you feel at home. I ordered the Jerk Chicken Fried Rice which did not disappoint. The drinks are strong - I had the Rum punch but there is so much to choose from. Restaurant REUSES EATEN FOOD! Spend $100 for dinner for my family and received already eaten chicken pieces and bone! Who know maybe the rice is all from someone else's leftover! DISGUSTING! I know this wasn't an error because freshly cooked food wouldn't be anywhere near the trash where used leftover eaten food should be! This place needs to be SHUTDOWN!! When I walked in this restaurant, I was the only one there. This place seems to fully operate during the night hours, but they are open during the day and serve food from their menu. I ordered jerk chicken and bbq shrimp with fried rice. The jerk chicken had little to no sauce on it, but the bbq shrimp was really good. Both came to $30 and I couldn't believe it. There was one person working. The woman was online shopping when I came in and barely stopped for 2 secs to even look at me. I said, "hi" and received a small smirk in return. She placed the bill down and continued online shopping. I paid for my food then left. Nothing more to share here, this place doesn't know hospitality or customer service at all and for $30 worth of food, I would've at least expected a hello read more

RUDE & GREEDY MANAGEMENT !! My cousin and I went for some drinks and food, knowing the food is always good! We got wings and fries with 2 rum punches ! We took a seat outside on there patio, where we watched another server attend to another gentlemen outside and walked straight pass our table maybe 3 times. Mind you we took one sip of the punch and pushed the cups to the edge of the table, it was TOOO SWEET!!! I had to go up to the bar now and ask to exchange or replace the drinks I was told we waited too long! We couldn't get a cheaper drink in place of the dissatisfied drink not even 2 can of soda she offered to replace it with because we took too long to "notify" someone. The manager/owner is TERRIBLE!!! Customer service is what keeps a business and we clearly see what's happening here ! Other than us there were 8 people in the place ... 2 can of soda verses 16$ for each rum punch ... where are we NYC?! The drink "the castaway" is rockin! The fried rice is good but the duck had waaaaaayy to many bones in it for me, made it uncomfortable to eat BUT I would most definitely eat here again. Maybe ill try the jerk shrimp.... I do however, enjoy the comedy shows they put on one Sunday a month. Most of the comedians are side splitting. Not a bad place... Food is decent. I didn't stick around to see how the crowd fills however seems like a lot of regulars come enjoy themselves and go home. Not bad. Music was good with live DJ. This place is really good , it makes me feel better to know it's kind of a Caribbean/Chinese cuisine spot. The place was not busy when I went as it was in the afternoon and a Wednesday. If you're trying to have some good eats and a good time this is the place you need to go to! The food is DELICIOUS ! It's a mix of Chinese and Jamaican food, that may sound a bit weird but the dishes are quite flavorful. So are the drinks one cup will have you feeling good and ready to vibe. The only downside to this place is that sometimes they temporarily close but it doesn't show on the website or on their social media . Three stars only...the menu is super simple but works for them. We ordered the jerk lamb for cutters and a BBQ Chicken fried rice. The pepper sauce was really good. The service was awesome. We waited around until almost closing as we usually go into NY for food and dancing but was really excited to find somewhere within 30 mins from home. This DJ was the absolute worse. $10 pp cover charge makes no damn sense but after the crowd came in i can see why they charge. I never seen a DJ play one song for almost 2 mins. Total vibe killer. The alcohol is not of quality but it is to be expected for an indo west indian spot. We know as we are business owners and run bars ourselves. What they are doing works for them. We will order food but definitely not chill here. Not worth the time or cover charge. read more

I sent Saturday night, to see how this local spot was and get something to eat. I'm always adventurous with food, so I got the BBQ duck. It was the First time I've had duck at a restaurant with bones in it. This made eating not enjoyable, also some pieces of the meat were burnt or their BBQ sauce was not mix correctly, some pieces had a slight sweetness and others had a more soy taste, I'm assuming some Asian type BBQ, I would never order it again, thank goodness I had my Heineken to enjoy. My friends got the chicken and fried rice dishes, seems like they like it. The music was too loud, for no reason, no one was dancing anyway. I'm jamaican, but seemed to be typical West Indian ( New Jersey ) crowd standing around and posing. I also thought the DJ would mix the music up more, I'm Jamaica but I would have liked to hear some soca or some chutney at least to mix it up, not just reggae. Our waitress was nice though read more

Have been frequenting Castaways for a few months now and have only once been disappointed, by a dish someone ELSE ordered (goat rotti). The Shrimp Rotti is a for sure go-to that has never failed me, on take-out nor in-house. I LOVE this dish and highly recommend. This is a local hidden gem in Orange! My husband is somewhat of a regular and always talks about the food. It's a hybrid of Chinese and carribean (Jamaican) food. I had garlic shrimp. The shrimp were lightly breaded and covered in garlic sauce. I also had pork fried rice. The fried rice is amazing. Instead of tiny pieces of pork, you get pork medallions on top of your right. Maybe it was the time of the day I went. But I ordered fried rice and shrimp. It didnt even taste like Guyanase Chinese. Flavorless, and the shrimp wasn't even cooked. It's like they heated up rice from a regular chinese spot, got some baby shrimp, and threw it in the rice. I knew something was off from the moment I placed the order and didnt smell any type of armona of cooking. As a first time customer, this was a horrible impression. Very nice place to get a drink and relax, good food, good music. Went on a Friday night and had a few drinks and then people started coming in, weekends are party time and lots of people came in that Friday night.....but we stayed and enjoyed ourselves overall very nice place and great service from the lady. This review is solely on the night club. I come here Friday nights. The vibe is always good, drinks are always on point and music makes my booty move uncontrollably. On a more serious note, this place gets super crowded. If you're not into the crowded scene, this is not the scene for you. The male bar tender is super cute and eye candy is not lacking in here. No pictures because we ate them immediately. Pan fried dumpling. 9 of them. That's a big portion. And it was like 9-10 bucks? They make their own dumpling wrappers, their own dipping sauces. Dumplings were very good. You could really taste the vegetables. Focused on the quality of the ingredients. My wife had the hand pulled noodles in hot oil. Marked spicy it was American spicy. Did not blow your head off. O enjoyed them. They give you a pair of scissors. Because it's one long noodle. Do not use them on your birthday. More on that later. I had the aforementioned cumin lamb and pulled noodles. I liked it but it was overwhelmingly cumin flavored which obviously is the point of cumin lamb. I'm not saying over seasoned I'm just saying it announced itself as this is cumin lamb. Period. We also had bubble tea! How fun is that? My wife had taro which they made with non dairy milk for her. I had pomegranate with exploding bubbles. Never had those before. Also super fun. They did not explode in an American way or even a Chinese way as both countries let's face it are pretty well known for making things explode. No in a pleasant way. Waitress was delightful we had obviously a long conversation about the food and the restaurant. The scissors are for Americans who share their food. In China you would eat the noodles slurp them without cutting them because eating long noodles especially on your birthday is supposed to promote a long life. We did not learn this until after cutting my wife's noodles. It was her birthday. I will miss her but also look forward to meat based appetizers. One door closes and all that. The dumplings were flavorful, hot, and perfectly steamed. They were definitely the highlight of our meal. Next came the beef pancake which was crunchy, chewy, had excellent flavor, but slightly heavy on the sauce. Lastly, was the braised beef noodle soup. The broth's flavor was on the mild side, whilst relying on the spice's heat to shine as the primary flavor. The beef was also mild, but especially tender. There was also a good amount of proteins in the soup and the hand pulled noodles were perfectly thick and chewy. Overall it was a great dish for a chilly night out.
