I ordered from Caribbean Touch through Uber Eats while traveling for work. I ordered oxtails with rice and peas, but instead received jerk chicken -- a dish I cannot eat due to health reasons. Here's what went wrong: * The restaurant admitted their mistake (the owner confirmed I was given someone else's order) but refused to make it right, offering no solution and even allowing an employee to treat me rudely when I followed up. * Uber Eats' app promised I'd get an immediate call from the driver to resolve the issue -- but no call ever came. * I submitted a ticket right away, but Uber didn't reply until the next day. By then, it was too late. Bottom line: The restaurant showed no accountability, with zero consideration to even allow a local taxi or employee to quickly deliver to me the correct meal and Uber Eats failed to provide timely or meaningful support. I was left without a meal and without proper resolution. As someone who travels frequently for work and relies on food delivery, this was a deeply frustrating experience. read more

One of our favorite lunch take-out options. Extremely filling and savory. Make sure to call about 20 min ahead so that the order will be ready. Highly recommend the chicken stew or oxtail. This was my first time go to this establishment. I live very close, however unfortunately every time I drove by it was closed. Today I got lucky and decided to give it a try. There are a couple of high stools and tables to sit at but mainly a pick up and go spot. For this encounter I got the Chicken Roti, Jerk chicken, Stewed chicken, and Chicken Patty. The Roti was on point - 4 stars The Stew chicken was good - 4 stars The Jerk chicken was good/ok - 2.5 - 3 stars And the Chicken patty was ... ummmm 1 star I prefer a deeper heat with my Jerk chicken and the sauce they provided with the meal tasted like honey mustard. The chicken patty's dough was not good and tasted undercooked. Overall nice atmosphere and decor and the people were very nice. Their prices are higher then most Caribbean spots I go to, especially for the quantity they give. Final word: I would and have returned but only for the Roti. read more

With the limited amount of Caribbean restaurants in Montclair, Caribbean Touch may be one that I can genuinely say that I enjoyed. In most most Caribbean restaurants the cashier staff - eh hem dem rude wit de face push up, hav no mannas but the staff here was cordial enough to take my order without issues. I had oxtails, rice and peas and a separate order of whiting and fries. Can I mention the fries were super addictive. The oxtails were savory and not overwhelmed with scotch bonnet pepper. Everything was delicious, the price point was moderate however the portion sizes were smallll. Both plates of food felt like a snack and left me feeling slightly unsatisfied. Some Caribbean restaurants can be unfriendly for whatever reason, because they do not value customer service however, this was not the case here. Was waiting for my food when a lady walked in and ordered, 3 dinners who was a regular customer Well she left with her 3 dinners while I continued to wait for my 1. My family and I have been looking for a place like this for years! So happy with the quality and selection of the food here. We ordered the oxtail, jerk chicken and stewed chicken. All were plentiful, flavorful, and just the right amount of spice in each one. The mac and cheese was also amazing. My wife said the cabbage was also excellent. The food is delicious here, but the service I received today was absolute trash. As I'm writing this, I still haven't received my order in almost two hours. When I called the restaurant, I was told that there was a delay and it would be another 15 minutes or so. 45 minutes later and that turns out to not be the case. The woman I spoke with on the phone apologized, but she was very condescending about it. It took so long that two different dashers canceled on me, because they didn't want to wait any longer. I'm surprised this take out only Caribbean restaurant isn't even on Yelp, but given that it was cash only and doesn't even have a print menu, I guess it makes sense. I live nearby and have to say this is by far the best bang for your buck you'll get from Caribbean food in Montclair. Most large enters under $15 and definitely homemade. There are both small and large (dinner) portions, and the dinner size comes with a choice of rice (white or with beans) and cabbage/spinach/mac and cheese. They also have beef patties, but they are popular and sometimes not in stock at the end of the day. Their jerk meats (chicken, shrimp, etc.) are super good, sufficiently spicy, and they can also run out early. My personal favorite is the stew chicken - not spicy at all - but it is bone-in and sometimes bone fragments can break off. Just something to be aware of. We have never had an entree here that we didn't like. Get the rice and cabbages - awesome combination! Food was ready within 15 mins of calling. The woman we always order from is friendly. Ok, so I was looking for a nearby Caribbean spot to place a catering order for our office event and I found these guys via yelp. Before I ordered from them for catering I have to at least try the food. So I ordered an oxtail lunch. What a sticker shock! $12.25 for a small and $15+ for a large. DAMN! That's expensive. Also, they served the food in a Styrofoam container. Now if you love food you know Styrofoam ruins the taste. I do not like food in Styrofoam containers especially hot food. Styrofoam is poison. It leaks into the food and it's bad for the environment. Now the oxtails were good. The rice needed a little more salt. All and all the food wasn't bad. I did not do the catering with them. I found a much cheaper place. I wish these guys the best, though. read more

I have passed this place countless times driving to and from Montclair! Today my sister and I decided to stop into this establishment to add a little Carribean flavor to our palates. Truth be told, I would have passed it by again if my sister didn't suggest we go. I'm soooooo happy we came. EVERYTHING we ordered was delicious. I ordered a small to go order which proves to be plenty! The Mac and cheese (I'm picky about) was delicious! The cabbage was oozing with flavor! The jerk chicken was very spicy. The chicken patty was delicious! The curry chicken was good- not as flavorful as everything else I tried. The beef patty was also fresh and delicious. The food overall exceeded my expectations. I ordered their curry chicken and white rice for lunch at work and it was not good. The chicken and rice lacked any type of seasoning. I had to literally add salt and pepper to make it more appetizing. I eat Caribbean dishes all of the time and this was probably the worse curry chicken dish I ever had. Well... This place is a very pleasant surprise. The beef patties are awesome, there is a veggie pattie and a chicken pattie if beef isn't your thing. I highly recommend going with the beef though. It's spicy, but not too spicy, and crust is light and flaky. The ox tails are always on the menu, and are somehow better than my mother's ox tails. The rice and peas are great, and there is always a side of greens to go with your meal. Just a word of advice: this place is pretty much a take out spot. Oh, my! Partner received gift certificate to Carribean Touch and what a treat it turned out yo be. Today was our first visit but surely not the last. Haven't had a roti since our St. Maarten days. Their vegetable roti was large, flaky snd filled with veggies. Jerk chicken came with plantains, rice, black beans, and spinach, a delicious combination. Chicken was moist, not too spicy, just right! But the killer winner was their mac and cheese. Don't know how they do it but it was over-the-top outstanding! It's a dish I love, make it fairly often and have enjoyed it at restaurants all over the country. But partner and I agree Carribean Touch' s is the best ever. When I tell you this food is the real deal , it really is! Very flavorful and authentic. The service was pleasant as well. I got the oxtails and they were surprisingly excellent. If I could give this place zero stars I would, first I would like to address the nasty attitudes of the employees. When you walk in you are not greeted and it's almost like its a bother to place an order. For the length of time I waited for my food I expected it to be hot, food was room temp at best. Food was tasteless the macaroni and cheese tasted very bland almost like boxed Mac and cheese and the container smelled like soap. When giving me my change back the women tossed it on the counter in a rude manner. I've been to this establishment a few times and the attitudes have not changed I won't be returning.
