I experienced this food through a catering order at an event. It was so good that I asked for their info. I have since ordered the fish dinner several times via Uber Eats so I have no idea about the decor. The food is fully flavored, including the rice and the cabbage. The food was good, but I really don't like when my meal is mostly rice. At the prices they charge I should be getting a bit more protein, which is the best part. Tasted like the real deal to me. I had a chicken Patty and chicken roti. It's been hard to find roti, so I was particularly happy to see it on the menu. It didn't disappoint. I always have a great experience when I order. The owner is so nice and staff very friendly. I've been coming here for years and love it every single time I can't complain. Although I always take my food to go, o can't speak on the dining in aspect. I always order their beef patties and a large curry chicken platter. I would not recommend their Jerk chicken entree. It was excessively spicy to the point where it gave me stomach issues for nearly 2 days! I've been to other Caribbean restaurants & I've never had this issue. Monday at 7pm and sometimes you get an itch...a hankering...a crave. And last night it was for jerk chicken! We ordered the jerk chicken and oxtail platters, as well as cowfoot soup. Within minutes of ordering we got a call that they didn't have the soup, but offered us a replacement with the chicken soup. Arrived on time. Soup was hearty, good flavour chock full of veggie and dumplings. Oxtail and jerk flavours were all very familiar, rich and savory. Only reason why it's not getting 5 stars is because a couple of the oxtail pieces were rubbery (not stewed quite long enough) and cabbage side came with a lot of oil in the bottom of the platter. I visited this establishment looking for quality Jamaican food, and I was so disappointed with what I received. I ordered a large jerk chicken without sides for 15.00 (whether you accept the sides that come with the chicken or not, the price is the same), a large oxtail with sides (rice, plantain, cabbage), for 20.00, and two bottled drinks which cost 6.00. When I looked at the paper menu and what was showing on the tv screen, I noticed that the prices of the items were not at all what was quoted to me by the woman behind the counter. I don't know if the increased prices that I were charged were specific to me, or due to a recent increase, I have no way to tell. At any rate, when I received my food, I noticed the bag holding the items looked small but I figured everything was just packed in there. Well, lo and behold, I get to my car only to discover that I paid $15.00 to receive TWO PIECES of jerk chicken...TWO! Furthermore, the chicken was lukewarm which says to me that it was probably warmed up in the microwave prior to giving it to me, and had a strong vinegar taste to it. The oxtail meal only had FOUR PIECES in the meal AND it was burnt! I was so upset I couldn't even enjoy the meal knowing I spent $41.00 on it and barely got reasonable portions! I'm all for paying for good food, but I find it ridiculous what I received versus what I paid for! This is completely unacceptable! read more

So, I dislike leaving negative reviews on local businesses run by POC or WI. I try to support these business as much as I can. HOWEVER, I have to be honest with my review. The customer service was ok. I ordered a large Jerk and a medium oxtails. It was the WORST jerk chicken I have EVER tasted. It was basically dry chicken that was made to sit in a waterY vinegar flavor sauce. I truly have never tasted anything like it before. I was unable to finish most of it and had to throw it away. I do not know if it was a bad day for the cook or what.... but is was not good at all. The rice was dry as well, but the cabbage was good. It was the only think that I like. Let me also say that the oxtails according to the person who ate it, stated it was good, but they could have provided more than just three pieces with hardly any meat. He thought the rice was okay and that the cabbage was good. Normally I give establishments more then one chance and just order something different, but I don't think I can with this place. First I ordered for pickup, spoke to the lady and ordered a large and a medium. When I got there, they were both the same size, and I was told that they can only accept cash today. I was very surprised because I just spoke to you on the phone and you could have told me that. The store shows that it accepts many cards but only cash is accepeted today......So i had to take a walk to the nearest Atm to get cash. Montclair's Caribbean Grill has a confusing menu layout that does not make it clear what's available each day. There are two TV monitors that cycle through foods and drinks, and there is also an open faced letter board with dining options as well. Moreover, the prices for the same menu items vary from the monitors to the letter board. When the woman behind the counter asked me for my order, I did not quite no what to say. Eventually, she made some suggestions: some of which I do not think were on display. My buddy and I ordered jerk chicken and chicken curry. It took quite sometime for them to bring out the food, but dang, was it good. It came with a mixed veggie slaw, rice, and fried plantains. I have not had much Caribbean food in my time, but I thought it was great. But when we paid, I don't know why our food costed what it did. It all seemed very arbitrary. Which makes no sense to me so I asked about the potato roti, cabbage and potatoes. Fine I'll give it a try. I'm hungry and I'm here. The place is small with a few tables, and a display with what look to be imported Caribbean groceries. We walked in and were given an extremely friendly greeting by the owner (?). We placed our orders, and one of my friends began talking him up since he'd spent a good amount of time in the Caribbean. The owner stepped into the kitchen to start our orders, and came back with a wine jug full of homemade "sorrel" for us to try free of charge. We were sippin on that and trading stories til our food came out and let me say, it was delicious. All of us got jerk chicken with rice & beans, cabbage and plantain. We smothered it in the spicy sauce it came with, and then asked for more at which the owner was appalled that we could handle all the spice.
