I'm so thankful to the lovely lady who handed me a flyer for Sweet Jamaica Café -- what a gem! This spot is truly a hidden treasure in Montclair. I've had a lot of beef patties in my life, but this was hands down the best I've ever had. The staff was incredibly welcoming and offered great suggestions. I ended up ordering the beef patty with oxtail on cocoa bread, paired with their sweet jerk sauce on the side. Made me wanna hold up my lighter. I grabbed a classic Ting, but there's a whole selection of Caribbean drinks to choose from. The interior is simple, quaint, and clean -- a relaxing little spot to sit and enjoy your food. They also offer baked goods (the guava pastry looked yummy) and serve coffee too, which makes it a perfect anytime stop. I will definitely be back. I usually take better pictures, but I was eating in my car. Trust me, you won't regret it.

During my visit, I experience good customer service; employees are kind, helpful with navigating for a Vegan option, and seem to be well busy in the kitchen. The Vegetable Patty is sweeter than savory though not so sweet. The crust is far drier than the interior though tasty (though flaky-dry-crispy). The eatery has indoor seating. Chill vibes. The establishment takes different forms of payment.

It was the perfect size for two. The meat melted in your mouth, and the sauces were incredibly flavorful and not too spicy. We also split a very nice bread pudding for dessert. We liked the ambience and the music - nice for a date night, not too loud and not too soft. The chef Patrick was really hospitable and explained the different dishes to us. The prices were good and we left stuffed. A fantastic experience and I can't wait to come back.

It's in a dry town so they don't serve alcohol, but they allow you to BYOB. The service was really good. Friendly and efficient, and felt very homely. Even though we were a big group of like 15 and only one 2 gentlemen working, they were really efficient and on point. The food was really good! Everything came out hot and fresh and was seasoned to perfection. I tasted my friend's fried chicken and fell in love! So much so, I placed an order of just the chicken to go! I had: Jerk chicken tacos - 5/5 Crab fried rice - 4/5 Fried Chicken- 5/5 (amazing! Seasoned and fried perfectly) Definitely recommend this spot and would go back if I'm in the area!

The chef was very nice and accommodated one of our friends who is gluten free. He also enjoyed every thing that he ordered. At a Thai spot, I expect to see Thai people. At a Mexican spot, I expect to see Mexicans. You get the picture. So at this Haitian restaurant, there are always Haitians enjoying the food -- which tells you everything you need to know. If you're looking for an upscale yet still authentic Haitian restaurant, this is it. No matter what you order, they always start you off with a soup that's hot, rich, and flavorful. I usually begin with the Haitian caviar and smoked fish empanadas, then move on to either the Saveur Creole goat or the red snapper -- always with extra gravy, because I can't resist pouring it over their black rice (don't judge me). It's BYOB, so bring your drink of choice or grab something from the shop right next door. Another thing I love is that the owner, Robert, is usually there. He'll stop by your table, talk with you, and make the meal feel like a real experience. And if you admire the artwork on the walls -- he painted all of it himself. If you go, tell him I sent you... maybe then he'll finally sell me one.
