Been far too long since I have stopped by. This is a hard to find gem with limited parking but well worth it. Greeted coming in the door. Fast, friendly, and smiling service. Many locals walk across from the area offices. I had the original gyro which is just one of many varieties they have. It is huge and delicious. Came with a pasta side or a side salad but as you can see I opted for the pasta. Then I washed it all down with their amazing spiced tea. Delicious!!!! To finish I got an order of their baklava. Devine. Local family owned business at the end of a crowded strip mall. The challenge of getting in is well worth it. They have updated the menu and broadened their offerings so if you have not been in in a while Like me swing by and see.

"A hole in the wall" and "hidden gem" is appropriate for this place. Without the reviews, I wouldn't have chosen to eat here. Delicious authentic Greek food. Cute place once you walk through the doors. Personable and friendly service. We had the special, Chicken Shawarma Wrap, spinach dip, cold pasta salad, and chicken Caesar salad. All was wonderful!

It says 2 stars, but truthfully I would do a 2.5 if I could. Starting with the positive, the place is nicely decorated, the ambiance is chill and the menu has good variety. The food came out fairly quickly, ingredients seemed fresh and the owner was pleasant. Unfortunately and despite all that, the experience was extremely underwhelming. We came in for lunch on a Thursday, place was fairly empty. The waitress seemed disengaged and only interacted with us to take the order and bring/take the plates. We ordered the chicken shawarma special ($14), the Vista gyro ($12) and a lentil soup appetizer ($7). The shawarma was very weird and unauthentic, basically grilled chicken with a lot of herbs added. Didn't taste bad, but did not taste like a shawarma and was very all over the place in flavor. The gyro meat was super flavorless and we were not given any sort of tzatziki sauce or something to help with it. The soup was the highlight, but I am not sure that a small cup like that should be worth $7. The side of pasta salad included was very hard and old, and honestly we tried it and left the rest in the plate. To add a bit of sourness to the situation, when you get up to pay you are greeted by several signs that say that a 3.9% charge will be made for using debit or credit cards. I get that times are tough for businesses, but this should be advertised before the meal or on their website, not when you are about to pay. Ultimately, this place is hardly the worse "mediterranean" restaurant in Memphis, but is a far cry from any authentic greek food or from any good value. It would do in a pinch for a quick lunch for the many offices nearby, but I personally wouldn't return.

A hidden gem in East Memphis! I've lived in the area since 2004 and (sadly) never stopped in until now. Had the Gyro Panino and it was fantastic! Service was great, with the owner stopping by to introduce himself and see how we were enjoying our meal. Their prices are very reasonable, as you can see from photos of their menu. Desert was the baklava, which was the best I've had. We're both looking forward to enjoying the rest of the menu on future visits!

I have encountered not only stellar food here, but also stellar human beings. The harmony in this place warmed my heart each time. It may be a small, sweet, clean, out of America feel kind of a place, which is how it struck me, since I'm not from here originally either. Healthy food, delicious on my taste buds, and made with a heart. I got attached to their salad...the best oil dressing I could not have created myself (order it separate and dip a fork in it and try the herbs at the bottom..a bit salty..delicious:), the tabouli (spelling), their chicken was great, the feta fantastic, their flat bread grilled or plain, their turkish coffee, their babaganush, the baklava and triamisu were fantastic! I really wanted to try out a place today as I had a doctor's appointment. I found this place which was just across the street from my appointment. I actually had seen the name as it was on the list of restaurants that offered discounts for Memphis teachers. Since businesses are in hard times right now I decided not to ask about the teacher discount. I decided to go for the Hero Gyro and an order of baklava. They said it would be ready in 5 minutes and once I parked it was ready! I'm pretty sure everything had been prepped and they just needed to stuff the pita and grill it. Glows: The pita was stuffed and meat was falling out as I bit into the pita. The pita was thin, crispy, and surprisingly sturdy for all of the filling. The side pasta was cooked al dente and it just had a light herb dressing. It was a welcome palate cleanser for the spicy sauce. The baklava wasn't overly sweet, which was perfect for me. The menu has a lot of different sort of pitas, wraps and sandwiches which would appeal to a lot of people's tastes. Grows: The feta small was definitely the first smell that hit my nose and I didn't realize it came with olives. I picked those out so that everything was right it with the world for me. Usually, I feel like restaurant in Memphis cater more to the American palate so I didn't actually think the spicy sauce would be spicy. It definitely was spicy enough to where I needed to cool down my mouth with the side pasta. The baklava was a tad bit small for me. It was basically $1.50 per square so one order comes with 2 small squares. Overall, it was a great meal. I definitely have enough food to make it last 2 meals which is always great for value. The pita was great but next time I will ask more questions to make sure that I like all of the ingredients first before ordering. Nothing wrong with the cooking of any food item, just that I'm picky about certain ingredients. If I am in the area again, I will definitely try more menu items.

Good, quick service. Not the standard Mediterranean food, but their take on it. As others have mentioned, and as I've experienced twice now, the pasta (salad) is undercooked, so the noodles are on the hard side. I'll request a different side next time (I think a green salad is an option). I ordered the Yanni (had the Jerusalem last time - which is misspelled on the menu); the pita, babaganoush, and gyro meat were good, but the tabouleh was cooked with the meat - which totally changed the flavor of the tabouleh - instead of added to the gyro cold. It was bitter and I had to scrape it off, which was very messy. With that said, I suggest asking how menu items are made so you're not surprised vs. assuming it's typical Greek fare. Next time I'll be sure to have them put the tabouleh on the side so I can add it myself to the sandwich.

Another great lunch at Cafe Med! With a great range of healthy Mediterranean appetizers and entrees, from hummus and dips to steamed and grilled Pitas, and Greek gyros, Club Med never disappoints us. I would absolutely give it 5 stars out of 5. Reasonably priced, with convenient parking right our front, and cheerful waitresses and waiters, Cafe Med is centrally located in Memphis, TN, right off of Poplar and Kirby Parkway, and it's open for lunch every day, and for dinner Thursday to Saturday until 8:00 PM. Best gyro in Memphis. I had a Spartan gyro with cucumber sauce in the side. Just as the menu says, the giardinier mix is spicy, but I just added a little cucumber sauce to balance it out. Delicious. The steamed pita bread has a wonderful chewy texture that really makes it. The opaa dip is a must have if you are dining with others. And of course the homemade baklava was superb. read more

We found Cafe Med on Yelp, and we're so glad we did! My husband and I ordered gyros and a dip sampler, and we were really wowed by the flavors. The babaghanoush was absolutely the best I've ever had, and the Opaa dip blew us both away! The gyros and pasta also tasted fantastic and were more food than we could eat in one sitting. The owner, Nadeem, came and spoke to us and was incredibly friendly, and it was obvious that he took a lot of pride in his business. He even offered us some baklava, which was also the very best I've ever eaten, both in its flavor and consistency. My husband and I were both thrilled with our visit, and we can't wait to come back with friends! read more

This was by far my worst food experience Memphis!!! The spinach dip was so bland we had to send it back, chips were good though, the humus seemed to be watered down, and the yani gyro looked so good in the picture that I told me wife I was just sure this dish couldn't be messed up since it looked so good in the pics and it had so many fresh veges............???????????......wrong again the veges were a little old, bland, mushy and flavorless. The lamb was a lamb and beef mixture, per the guys in. The kitchen???? But again flavors absent from the dish..... I should have ran when I saw the level of authenticity this place had. Save your money on this one and just go eat a dry cold hamburger from mcdonalds you will get way.......more flavor than this spot has to offer. I would encourage t::ae guys to take a trip to little rock and eat at Layla's they could teach you a thing or two! Just my humble opinion!!! /! Peace read more

We would really miss this place if we ever moved away!!!!! It is a gem! We frequent this Mediterranean restaurant regularly. The food is fresh, tastes really, really good, but is also healthy. The paninis and pitas (all of which I like) come with a green salad and pasta with pesto and are under $10. The atmosphere is relaxed and the owner is on site (often serving) and is very friendly and modest. We bring friends and family who come to Memphis here routinely and make plans around eating here. This place is absolutely amazing!! I had the original Gyro and past salad with Tea and a Baklava. Everything was superb, but especially the Baklava..The tea had herbs in it I'd never tasted before, and my favorite tea ever!! a secret recipe. We were looking for a non-chain restaurant near our hotel and Cafe Med looked cute, clean and like it had some healthy offerings. We were more than satisfied with our selection. A party of three, we had the Yanni Gyro, the Tuscan Deluxe Hero, and the Deluxe Turkey Hero. All were fresh, tasty and served by a super-friendly server! The restaurant also has wireless internet for those interested in lingering while catching up on email and such. If I lived here I'd make it a regular place to visit. read more

Very very good food! I had the Chix Gone Wild sandwich and it was awesome. So good that I'd drive across Memphis to get it again. They don't have a kids menu, but they'll make anything they can to cater to little mouths. Think, new twist on grilled cheese! The people there are really nice. Wow, at the risk of sounding like a broken record (that's a statement only my cohorts would understand), I must rave about the food AND the owner at Cafe Med. First timer - had the best tabbouleh ever - there are as many spellings of the word as there are recipes, many of which just don't do the trick for me at other restaurants. This was so delicious that I tried to have it again today but was late to the party. They close at 3:00 on Sundays but are open until 8:00 some other days. Also had Chicken Tuscano grilled pita sandwich - mozzarella, oven-roasted chicken slices, basil pesto, sundried tomatoes, marinated artichoke hearts, roasted sweet red & sliced mild banana peppers. Grilled to perfection with just the right balance of flavors. Will be there tomorrow. read more

Best Greek food in Memphis! My husband and I went for the first time and we loved the food. For an appetizer, we had the Opaa and Yassou dip with Pita chips. I had the Greek Salad and the Aleppo Gyro for the main course. My husband had the Apollo Gryo. The Gryo meat was seasoned perfectly. The Baklava for dessert was delicious. To top it off the owner is such a sweet man and provided the best service ever. Will definitely be back! read more

A little inconspicuous, Cafe Med specializes (as its name indicates) in Mediterranean cuisine, with a strong emphasis on gyros (the menu lists more than a dozen variations). My favorite offering is the falafel pita sandwich--fairly light and full of flavor. Babaghanouj and hummus are also very tasty. Great spot for a better than average lunch! read more

We have been coming to Cafe Med for several years now. We keep coming back for three reasons: First, because of the delicious food, second, because of the great service and staff and third, because the prices are great. We have gone to many of the Mediterranean restaurants in Memphis over the years, but none of them have the food and provide the dining experience of Cafe Med in Germantown, TN. Tonight we started with the Yassou Dip, then I had the Hero Gyro and my wife had the Rodos Gyro (which she often orders). I usually order the Andalucian Gyro, but I saw the Hero Gyro and had to try it because I wanted to try something new, and I'm so glad I did. It was great. The meat is so tender and the sandwich was spicy. I usually take pictures to post, but it was gone before I realized I needed a picture for this post. No problem though - I will have another chance since I will return to Cafe Med in Germantown soon. I recommend you do the same. Thanks, Cafe Med. read more

being from the Detroit area, I agree with the other review that it is not true middle eastern food. HOWEVER, I personally enjoy the flavors. The menu is creatively put together and the food is flavorful, something I enjoy. Most everything has cheese in it, so if you don't eat dairy, it is probably not the place for you. They provide a good, filling meal at a reasonable price. Service is always fast and friendly. I always leave satisfied. read more

I eat at Cafe Med for lunch with some regularity. The food is always delicious and fresh and there are plenty of items on the menu to choose from. I've had their paninis a couple of times but my go-to item is their falafel pita sandwich. The chickpea patties are always cooked just right, the greens are crisp and fresh, and the tahini sauce they use is excellent. The staff is very friendly and the food comes out quickly whether you're dining in or getting take away. If I have one complaint it is that they tend to use just a little too much oil on the panini sandwiches. Otherwise Cafe Med is a better-than-average lunch for a fairly average price. read more

I ordered the Original Gyro, and my-oh-my was it delicious! They have different types of Mediterranean food, and I decided that I wanted to try one of their steamed gyros. It came with a side of noodles, and because I purchased a sweet tea, it came with a bag of chips for only a penny extra. The taste is flavorful! They have fresh ingredients, as well! Try this place out for a taste of the Mediterranean in Memphis unlike no other! read more

Discovered Cafe Med accidentally one day and I'm impressed. Great gyros and salads. I've only tried the soups one time -- lentil. It was delicious. For a very reasonable price, you are served generous portions -- the gyro sub sandwich is bigger than my abnormally large head, for $6. Everything is always fresh. This has become a popular lunch spot for the businesses surrounding it, so service can be a bit slow during the day. read more

I live in the neighborhood. This is my favorite small cafe. Great fresh mediterranean food. I usually get the Greek salad and a Cafe Med grilled pita (add chicken). The owners are the ones doing the cooking and serving the customers. They are very friendly and welcoming. Stop by and you will see that the food is tremendous! Great local hidden treasure. read more

Cafe Med is a sandwich restaurant that does some Greek dishes. I had the olympian gyros sandwich yesterday and the chix salad today. I like the food here, it is fresh and simple. Service is good and very helpful. Babaghanouj and hummus are very tasty, especially with big garlic pieces. Great lunch spot, reasonable prices, lot of parking options. The gyros is a bit too salty for my taste, if they were to used real chix instead of the processed chix bologna, the salad would be perfect and I would give this restaurant a five star! read more

The smoothie bowl was melted, the fresh juice was pre juiced and poured in to a cup, and the zucchini noodle bowl was just... bleh. In this economy to toss a plate due to undercooked sweet potato and over cooked zucchini noodles as well as lack of flavor is sad, but expected. My advice to this establishment would be; plant based does not mean lack of flavor. Nor does it mean lack of presentation bc my food looked like it was thrown into a box. Very unappealing. Cashew ranch is impressive! Hence my two stars. Would not recommend and won't be coming back.

Maybe that's too strong of an emotion but I really wanted to enjoy this. Maybe this was a bad night. Absolutely delicious! Gyro was amazing and pita seems to be made in house. Oopa feta cheese dip is SO yummy! We will be regulars. Can't wait to try their falafel as they were SOLD OUT @ 2pm which tells me they mist be good! Do yourself a favor and check this place out. Oh, and the customer service is wonderful. Very friendly and you can tell they take lots of pride in making customer's experience a good one. read more

Fantastic Greek gyros & Italian Panini! We enjoyed an Italian Bella Donna Salad and Original Gyro for dinner one Saturday night. The owner is very warm and welcoming. He gave us a Baklava and hospitality beyond most restaurants. This is not fine dining, but fantastic family evening style dining. read more
