I've been eating at Gyro & Spice since they first opened, and for years I always ordered the gyro platter. It is, without question, the best gyro platter I've ever had--and I've traveled all over the world enjoying gyros, including places in the mid-east like Manama, Bahrain. Tonight, I ordered my usual: two gyro platters and two baklavas for the wife and I. The owner suggested I try their new chicken sandwich called the Zinger. I said yes, and now I'm upset... because how am I ever supposed to choose between these two incredible dishes? The gyro platter is amazing, but the Zinger chicken sandwich is absolutely outstanding--crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor that is perfectly on point. Every bite was fantastic. The chicken shawarma wrap was good but so small in size for price. The Philly cheese steak was very good and larger in size for a better tastier deal. Note: it seems like all the Mideastern & Indian restaurants now charge for water $1+ plastic bottles from Walmart or Kroger. read more

We ate here on a Saturday night. It was much classier inside than I expected. Great service. Friendly. Very clean. We were the only people dining in. (There were people getting orders to go.) it was on the pricier side. But we got an appetizer and mango lassi. One couid eat here at a reasonable cost. They do have cheeseburgers if you have a picky eater. My eldest got a cheeseburger and fries. I ordered the gyro entree. Very good. It isn't an enormous serving but it's plenty sufficient. read more

While I was out in Cordova, I came across Gyro & Spice and decided to stop in for dinner. After eating at a few places with more standard local options, this was a really nice change. The food was excellent. I had the Greek Gyro Salad, the Mix Combination Platter, and a Mango Lassi, and all of it was really good. The platter gave me a chance to try several different meats, and everything tasted fresh and well made. What makes this place stand out is the menu. They offer a mix of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and South Asian dishes, along with things like wings and boba. That's a pretty wide range, but it doesn't feel random. They do a good job with it. The simple ambience and strong service also left a good impression. Roger and Mohammed were friendly, welcoming, and happy to share a little about their background and the restaurant, which made the experience feel more personal. If you live in the Cordova area and want to try something different for dinner, this place is worth a stop. SOOOO YUMMY! We love the hummus and mixed meat platter! And the mango passion fruit juices were SO refreshing and fresh! We have been twice already and will keep coming back. We came at lunch on Friday and it was very upscale and quiet atmosphere. The staff were kind and helpful. The food was absolutely amazing. I forgot to take a picture but it was tasty. I got the gyro platter which has the gyro lamb meat and white sauce laid over a massive bed of rice and the lettuce, tomatoes onions are on the side in a raspberry vinaigrette? Sometime over the last couple of months, this little gem quietly open up in the Kroger shopping center on N Houston Levee. It has a warm ambiance, and the owners gave us such a personal experience on this, our first visit in. They have all the traditional Middle Eastern dishes - gyro, falafel, shawarma, but also wings and Bubble Tea. Everything was executed perfectly- straight up the best hummus and baba ghanoush I've ever had. My husband was excited to try their wings, as the owner declared them the best in Memphis. My husband said if the fryer temperature had been upped a notch, they would be. The samosas were great, as was the Boba tea. They have a diverse menu, and every thing was done deliciously and served with pride. Go check them out! read more

We had a large party for lunch on Sunday and it was an excellent experience! It took a bit to get all of the food out, but that's because it wasn't mass produced but made to order. Everything we tried was delicious, including the chicken shawarma wrap, chicken kabob plate, hummus, samosas, and the grape leaves! I'm pretty sure my husband will be have dreams of those grape leaves tonight! The staff was very friendly and helpful! For those of us who weren't as familiar with Mediterranean food, they were patient and kind as they explained the options. Looking forward to a return visit soon! read more

The service here was horrible! My husband and I entered the restaurant and there were two men behind the counter. We stood there for five minutes looking at the menu and then they told us to have a seat. So we picked a table we were the only people in the restaurant. The waiter came over and acted like he didn't have a clue what he was doing. He asked for our drink order and brought my husband's drink in a bottle and didn't bring a bottle top opener. So I asked for two glasses of ice and opener he just stood there looking at me like I was speaking a foreign language! He then brought one glass of ice so I said could I have a glass of ice too! Then I asked if the the gyro was on pita or a tortilla. He said I don't know. I said could you find out? He went to the kitchen and came back an said it was on a tortilla. So we ordered or meal with fries and had to ask him twice for the fries when he brought out the food. Each time he had the deer in headlights look. Then two ladies entered the restaurant and the other waiter was Johnny on them. He was grossly flirting with them which made both of us very uncomfortable. He gave them free drinks and food and then escorted outside when they were leaving It was obvious he was trying to get laid. The one girl asked our waiter if he had a Cash App. He looked clueless but said yes so she Cash App him money even though he didn't wait on her. The food was just ok. Usually, when I enter a restaurant that's empty, in this case, for Sunday lunch, I worry. In this case, after visits on consecutive Sundays, I can say that my concerns were unfounded. Gyro Spice is an outstanding option for Middle Eastern food In Memphis, and we need a lot more of places like this. For whatever reason, possibly due to the presence of the Memphis Islamic Center, there have been numerous "ethnic" restaurants/stores open up in the Macon-Houston-Levee area. We very much need as many "ethnic" places to open as possible in Memphis. Gyro Spice is a great example of exactly what we need more of in Memphis! read more

Calming ambience with prompt service.... We order the mixed platter, lamb chops and the beef gyro. All dishes hit on point with taste and presentation. We visited for a late lunch so restaurant was not busy. We will be back for more delicious food soon. read more

This restaurant is truly a hidden gem! I have eaten here several times with a friend and with my husband. The veggetarian food is very fresh and flavorful.
