10 out of 10 highly recommend! My husband and I visited this restaurant after deciding that we wanted some Mediterranean food. It was out of our way however we could not find anything else in the area that we wanted to eat. When we first arrived, we were seated within five minutes, and there was no long wait. The food was hot and plentiful! Definitely will return! read more

Ali Baba is a fantastic Middle Eastern restaurant. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is cool. There's usually some Persian music playing and drifts of hookah smoke in the evening. The meat is high quality, and the rice is cooked to perfection. The service is on point. When I eat there, I know I'll get a satisfying experience. The price is a bit high, but worth it when you have money to spare. Excellent restaurant. read more

This is one of those places that the more the merrier so bring a bunch of friends. We had the large vegetarian and the large grilled meat platter at a birthday party we were invited too. Lamb chops, shawarma, shishkabobs, kofta kabobs... ckicken grilled to perfection. I can't even tell you what. All the vegetable salads and dishes were. But they were all gone by the evening...so delicious. This is the real deal, very few people speak english in here. No alcohol, but the juices and teas are off the chart. If you know Mediterranean food, then this is the only place that will do... read more

Delicious, this place was recommended to us and it did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was bursting in so much flavor. The hummus, baba ghanoush, falafel and the pickles were delectable. The meat on all the plates were tender but the winner was the lamb chops, talk about the seasoning, the crisp and spices. Wow amazing. The service was top tier and our server took great care of us. The ambiance is very welcoming and definitely has a family vibe to it. I highly recommend this place, you will not leave disappointed. Also the portions are very generous you will be taking to go boxes! read more

Don't miss on the shwarma, both chicken & beef. Might be on of the best. The shawrmas are a generous size, chances are 1 is enough, along with appetizers. We tried the shwarma, kababs, kibbeh, beet salad and fatoush, everything was good. Place is nicely decorated, clean, and has plenty seats, and has a prayer room. Food came out in a timely manner Great halal spot, I'd recommend for sure. read more

This hit the spot! I was in the mood for some chicken shawarma and this was my first time checking this place out. They did not disappoint. The chicken was flavorful and very garlicky. The hummus is the smoothest and creamiest I've ever had and the pita was fresh. The service was friendly was fast and the overall feel of the restaurant was chill. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone in the mood for chicken shawarma or hummus. read more

I was really looking forward to trying this place. I walked in at 1:08 p.m. on a Friday and saw several people seated and dining. When the hostess approached me, I asked to place a takeout order. She informed me that they would not be open until after 2:00 p.m., which was confusing. I had already checked their hours of operation on multiple platforms, all of which stated they were open from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Fridays. I'm not sure if there was a private event or a temporary change in hours, but clearer communication would have been helpful. read more

Fresh food has the chicken prepared I believe two ways I believe the first chicken was a chicken Shawarma and a chicken wrap and then it was like a chicken kebab, but I got pictures of what actually got down for a warm tea instead of a cold iced tea. The warm tea was really nice. It was minty. It was full of flavor. I ordered that again. The service was good, it was a busy place were several birthday party so it was lively, lively environment. This was such a disappointment. I ordered a shawarma for pickup & was there 10 min later. The shawarma was cold , the bread , chicken everything. The flavor didn't even make up for it. The flavor was soooooo disappointing. If you were to blindfold someone and have them taste test it they probably couldn't even name the dish, might get it mistaken for just chicken wrapped in a hard tortilla. The bread was so hard you could probably knock on it lol. I can't even remember the last time I wrote a review but I decided to because establishments need to start carrying more pride to their paying customers. And have the mentality that every dish they send out is up for a review. read more

It's almost impossible not to make a stop at this place whenever I visit Memphis. My all time favorite is their Ali baba special mixed grill which is more than enough for 2-3 people. This time we tried their kabob combination platter which was as great. On top of high quality and delicious food, everything is so affordable and the staff are extra nice. The environment is so cozy and intimate. I continue visiting this place whenever I'm in Memphis!! read more

I celebrated one evening with a coworker was excellent food! The lamb chops in particular were amazing, we had the large platter for the table. I'm accustomed to typical southern cooking and was pleasantly surprised with the selection of delicious food. I enjoyed it and plan to return. Had the Mixed Grill. It had a nice sampling of the meats. All the cuts were delicious. The lamb chop was by far the best.

BEWARE: They have deceptive tipping policy to overcharge patrons! We went there on a recommendation and what we found was average food, bad service and deceptive tipping policy. when we arrived it took a while to get a table cleaned and once we were sat, getting the menu to getting the food took some time. We orders a small appetizer sampler (with good falafel) but they charged for pita (cold pita). for the main we ordered cucumber yogurt (big portion), kabob platter (big portion but bland) and the kabob sandwich (again decent portion but bland). overall the food was average/decent. we also ordered the arabic tea thinking it was authentic; it was just a tea bag. the deceptive process came in the end - we asked for the bill and they brought a machine which they held onto and only showed what you ordered (the total was hidden by the hand); that all looked correct so i said ok and then they asked for tip amount. i selected the amount and then the machine "ran out of paper" so i asked the receipt to be texted. when i saw the receipt it had two tips so i asked what that was about and they said "our policy is that a large group is 4+ which includes automatic tip". this information was never told nor informed and when i inquired further they said "oh i showed you the machine". it's a deceptive and bad way of getting more money out of the customer - the two tips equaled 25-30% of my bill! read more

Having a Mediterranean background, I find this cuisine to be some of the best in the city. The Shish kabob lamb is very tender and tasty as well as the chicken. The stuffed grape leaves, while vegetarian were bursting with flavor! Try it and you'll definitely be coming back for more. Ask for Hamza and you'll get great service. read more

The food is ALWAYS amazing! Great portions with great pricing! Very nice ambiance & great service! Recommend Ali Baba 100%!

This unassuming spot - serves up some of the best Middle Eastern food in the mid south. What started as a just trying something new has become a regular meal. Enjoy grilled lamb chops- the best! Grilled kebab in lamb and chicken, and the ground meat kebab in lamb and chicken. The rice is spiced with bay, cardamon and all spice. The falafel balls are light, vibrant green with a a full flavor. The added sesame seeds are excellent touch. I pair with garlic sauce. The tea is hot and infused with fresh mint! I love the kibeh and always add the salad with chunk of feta. All the desserts are delish and if they have the baklava with cheese center it is a must have addition. So I recommend getting out of the comfort zone and try it! The restaurant is Hala and the clientele is mostly middle eastern but I always feel welcome and treated like a regular. Lazheen is a sweet and always does her best to serve us. When the chef is in it is even better. read more

I stopped in today because it was close to where I was working and I've been craving good Mediterranean food. I ordered the Kebob Combination Platter. Generous portion, very flavorful food - and relatively quick. The service wasn't anything special - I sat myself and after dropping off my order the server didn't come back to ask if I needed anything. I went up to the cashier stand to get a to go box for my leftovers and lids for the sauce cups. The ambiance - the music was okay although it was a little loud for my taste with an empty res, the restaurant decor was older and there was a leak in the middle of the restaurant floor - likely from the storm prior to my arrival. The food was good - but there are equally tasty Mediterranean food options in the Memphis area for far cheaper. $30 (including tip) for an entree is a bit much. read more

Amazing middle-eastern food! The Ali Baba Special mixed platter is a must try; a variety of grilled meats, kabob, lamb kaftah skewers, chicken kaftah skewers, lamb chops, all deliciously seasoned, served on a bed of aromatic rice with some grilled veggies. The kibbeh and hummus are equally amazing! I extensively traveled the Middle-East, this is the real deal. Best accompanied with a mint tea pot, and some baklava or kanafeh for a spectacular ending. I have been here four times in two weeks and can't get enough of it! read more

I had heard about this restaurant for a while and finally had the opportunity to try it out. Walking into the restaurant immediately gives you authentic vibes. Food: i ordered the Ali Baba special mixed grill and lamb shwarma along with the tea. While the shish kabob was average, the lamb chops and the chicken kabob were perfectly seasoned and very tender. The rice was soft, buttery and paired well with the meat. Drink: I tried the mint tea, which was a great conclusion to the meal. Overall, would highly recommend trying out this gem!! read more

Truly a great lunch experience. Friendly service and very good food. I had the lamb shawarma wrap and a kibbeh. Both were good, though the kibbeh was a bit expensive at $2.49. The shawarma wrap was like seven dollars, a good price. I wish the menu offered a bit more variety, but what they do have is on point. If you find yourself in Memphis craving shawarma, this would be a great place to check out. read more

Lots of food for the price you pay so come hungry or you will have extra snack for later. We ate there Saturday 6/22/24. The food was excellent! The mixed grill was seasoned perfectly. I love the chargrilled flavor. The Mutabal Beets dish was a favorite at our table. The grape leaves are different from anything I've had and I'd order them again. Ready to go back to try other items! The service was very attentive but never overbearing. The restaurant was busy but never loud. read more

I have to start off with saying that the service was bad. I called in for my order, showed up 10 min past the estimated time, and found out my order hadn't even been started. The guy that took my order over the phone, greeted me at the door and said "Oh, you called like an hour ago, right?", went to check on the order and changed his story when he realized the order hadn't been started bc he came back stating I called maybe only 10-20 min ago. My phone log stated 40 min. I understand things get mixed up, but I don't like to be made a fool. The server should have just admitted his fault instead of alter the story. We waited another 20 minutes to have our food cooked. The food itself was OK. we ordered the mixed plate for two so we could try a little bit of everything. Portion was good and it packed a lot of flavor. The proteins were a bit on the dry side though. read more

I have reviewed this business before as a diner. I can now review as a catering customer. I could NOT have been more delighted with what they provided for my party. My guests enjoyed everything immensely. The manager was incredibly kind and helpful in advising me on quantities. It really made a perfect table for my party. Highly recommend the hummus, chicken shish tawook, stuffed grape leaves, moussaka. My vegetarian friends appreciated all the vegetarian options.
