Lunch time. Ordered Philly cheesesteak a large sandwich, hearty but added house hot sauce for more flavor. Lamb shish kabob was overcooked-so well done making meat chewy. Rice was bland and dry. It maybe on the menu somewhere but a three percent surcharge fee added on final bill. I would have paid cash if known in advance. Waitress was ok dropped off food and returned at bill payment. read more

Spanakopita was not as good as the first time I had it. The phyllo was black on three sides. Had the mixed Shawarma. Chicken, Beef and Lamb. Dry as bones. No sauce at all. More rice than anything. And potatoes too. Basically a carbohydrate dish. Two little cups of what looked like Thousand Island salad dressing. The lighter colored one was very spicy - too much for me to add it to the dish. The darker one was also very spicy - just in a different way. Didn't add that to the dish either. First time I went there the service was so slow we couldn't stay for a whole meal. Had our drinks, appetizers and left. This time I ordered for pickup. The diet soda was cold. The food was barely lukewarm. It's pretty inside. The porch is large, attractively furnished. But unless there's something that they put up to keep the sun from beating down on the porch, I'll never eat outside. Very disappointed. read more

Welcome to this authentic Mediterranean haunt. This place is smallish but beautifully decorated with middle-eastern tapestries and there is not an American to be seen in the waitstaff so you know it will be good. I am especially fond of their kibbeh and shawarma but their tea and coffees are especially delicious. (Most folks quiver at the thought of kibbeh because it is so hard to master but here it is done right) Everything is delightful so get in the car and give it a try! You won't believe how awesome it is~ read more

The food here is consistently delicious. I like the renovations, though I think the new cite menu needs some work. We had cookie lattes that didn't really taste like cookie at all. Service was solid, especially since we had to move inside with our toddler when he got too interested in the stairs. read more

Casablanca - Falafel - Middle Eastern Near Me - Memphis, Tennessee

I recently went to Casablanca I had high expectations but with a party of ten the service was slow ,. We waited forever for drinks and our meals came out at completely different times. So I'll give them a pass on service. , I did not like the seating arrangements; we were crammed in tight seating. Finally, I found the food itself was not appealing. With the poor service, uncomfortable seating, and unappealing food, I most likely will not be going back. read more

This place is always top notch. My go to is anything to do with shawarma whether it be the plate, sandwich, or salad. The "best tea in Memphis" is as advertised. I'd go there just for the tea but the food is great so win/win. Staff has always been super friendly and accommodating as well. One day I'll remember to take photos before I devour the food. read more

I came halfway to closing on a light rainy Thursday so it was barely many people there. The server was nice. I was looking forward to the lamb kebab dish, but they didn't have any lamb supposedly. That's was disappointing because that is what I came there for so I had to change my dinner to chicken kebab. It tasted good, the salad I had tasted fresh and their Iced tea was superb. I would come back as long they have the lamb in stock. read more

The service and food was spot on. I love this style of cooking and the flavor was incredible! Nothing I ate was bad.

Love this Memphis restaurant... I was early for lunch so I had the whole place to myself, and the server was so welcoming. Delicious lentil soup and tabouli! read more

I love the food here! The hummus with shawarma is my favorite dish. I also like their hot tea when it's cold outside. I'll definitely be returning! read more

So glad I tried this place, the food was delicious. Started with the small mezze plate as an appetizer, hummus, baba ganush and falafel. All excellent. For dinner I had the beef and lamb shawarma and my friend had the lamb shank and the cous cous. The lamb shank was delicious, made perfectly and fell off the bone. They have a spicy sauce which was delicious and actually spicy and mild sauce but I'm a spice girl lol. Excellent service, so glad we came. If you're looking for a break from Bbq this is a great option. read more

Went for the first time after the renovation. The inside is completely different and it's white and less of a vibe. Food is still good but not the same atmosphere at all. Sadness. read more

Always delicious food and great service. The jalapeño sauce is so good, we even bought some to go

Disappointed this time. I ordered the mixed shawarma platter. When I got home and opened the platter it was all chicken. I called them. They told me to come back. When I brought it back they offered to replace it. After waiting 15-20 minutes another patron also brought his food back. When I received my correct order the quality was bad. The meat was dry and the carrots were over cooked. I ate about 1/3 of my order then threw the rest out. A complete waste of time and money. Btw, the shawarma platter does not come with pita or lettuce, tomato or pickles. The sauces were good though. See photos read more

So this place was good and my coworkers absolutely loved it. The portions they got were insane and honestly I don't know how they walked after. Sadly my experience was different. I had chicken kabobs. They were ok but took way longer. They were also nearly $20. I cannot suggest going that route. I would be willing to give it a try again but just didn't have the best experience on my first try. read more

We all know Memphis is know for its barbeque. Well did you know courtesy of Casablanca Restaurant, its also know for some great Moroccan food. This has to be some of the best Moroccan food I have had hand down. The service was top notch and it was good to see a place in the South that had halal food and Muslims working in the restaurant and not just owning it. It is located in a descent/ good area of Midtown based on the surrounding houses in the neighborhood. There is street parking, but the restaurant has a parking lot directly behind it . From the owner jokingly telling us we owed him a parking fee for parking on his lot to the wonderful service we received, it was one of the most memorable highlights of my trip. And now on to the food: I ordered lentil soup ( it was hot well seasoned and fulling), tabbouleh ( it was fresh spring tasting oooh how I love great tabbouleh) and lamb and beef shawarma with rice and potato ( the shawarma was hot and tender, the rice and potato were soft not and not mushy. The tea was good. It would have been great if I would have asked for more ice in it. Our host was excellent, as there were 5 people in my party and she remembered each one of our orders. The price to portion was well worth it. They give you so much great food. My group is still talking about this place, so I know I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Memphis TN. Oh yeah if you love hot sauce make sure to try it and if you love sweet sauce make sure to try it. ....You can even combine both sauces for the best of both worlds. FYI , they also sell the sauces to go !!! read more

You already know what's up. Casablanca! Look here. If I could pick up this entire restaurant and take it back to Nashville, I would. I thought you were tripping at first when you said your tea was the best in town. I decided try it out. The tea was amazing. The tea has a perfect balance of sweetness and flavor. Ever since I watched the Avengers mid-credit scene, I've had the urge to eat Shawarma every time I see it. Well every time I'm in Memphis, I will stop here to eat. Make sure you do the same. read more

The restaurant gave comforting vibes on a rainy Saturday evening. There weren't many people in the place. Our waitress seemed very distracted and didn't give us good service. I tried getting her attention several times, but she never looked our way. There was a young male server who finally came over to help us. The food was absolutely delicious and they were huge portions. When paying the bill I gave the waitress cash, and she shorted me $10. I would definitely go back for the food, though. read more

First time my group (of 4) ever tried Mediterranean and I'm glad we went here. The food was all great! I wish I had gotten pictures, but we got the appetizer that had all the spreads and comes with pita bread. I'm not a hummus fan, but clearly it was because I've never tried REAL hummus. All the spreads were all so flavorful. Our server was nice and helpful. My only complaint was that the heat was on in there (it was in the high 60s that day) and it made us uncomfortable. We will be back though. read more

Completely remodeled from the pictures on yelp, this Midtown Mediterranean gem is welcoming. The music is genuine arabic, until they switched it to Michael McDonald yacht rock. We immediately had they switch it back to arabic music, because when in Morocco. The dinner was legit. Please taste the lentil soup. The Greek Salad was so yummmmy. Love feta cheese. (I didn't eat the olives. I don't like olives :) We split all the courses which was a perfect amount of food. The salmon entree did not disappoint. Our server Miriam was a delight to talk to. I think she was actually from Morocco, so she was legit. BTW, it was pouring out this night here in Memphis. So the hot tea was warm, inviting and delissssshhhhh. Sometimes its nice to make friends with the server. She blessed us with free chocolate mouse dessert. YUMMMM! Five stars! Thank you Crystal and Miriam! read more

This Midtown Mediterranean gem is just the kind of place that is perfect for a weeknight dinner when you are work traveling through Memphis. I came here on a recommendation from one of my coworkers who lives here and it was just a perfect as I imagined from the pictures and his description of the excellent food here! I came in around 6pm and there were a few other tables of four and two already seated and a few pick up orders. The outside sign is easily visible at night from the street. The Google/Apple directions are exact as well (just past Marco Pizza on the right side of the street). There is street parking alongside the road or you can take a couple of right turns and park in a small lot. The entrance is warm, cozy and inviting up the stairs and the traditional decor. I started with the Best Tea in Memphis, and house made hummus and the pita bread. I mean just look at the pictures, you can taste it with your eyes first! It was sooooo good, I could have licked that plate clean but I have manned so I scraped as much as I could and took half of it to-go once my main entrée came out. I asked my server for recommendations for plant based diet and he told me the falafel sandwich but I am not too keen on falafel (it's a hit or miss- sometimes too salty, too crunchy, etc.) so I asked about the vegetarian platter and the vegetarian couscous. I ended up with the couscous plate after looking at the photos of it and it was just enough food for me to finish the plate. Very tasty. Full of flavors. Just the right balance of sauces to wet the couscous and vegetables on top. And there's no way I was skipping out on dessert so I saved just enough room for me wearing my tight jeans to savor the chocolate mousse. They made it so good!! And the tea!! The tea!! I asked my server if I could have a to-go cup of it and he gave me the large cup! Bless him!! You must try this place! The food is good excellent, the servers are very attentive and friendly and the atmosphere is quiet and cozy. I felt welcome and relaxed here in visiting a new city. read more

I recently went to this location within the last week with a close female friend. The owner was very accommodating to make sure we had a safe place to park. Food was good and their tea was great. BUT our server CHANGED THE TIP on BOTH of our credit card receipts. My tip turned into more than my actual meal! This is stealing and credit card fraud. I will not be returning unfortunately due to our female server's actions. read more

Cant miss with their falafel and baba ganoush. Feel like the shawarma has fallen off a bit but maybe it was a bad day

This used to be my favorite restaurant. They closed for renovation and just reopened. I am SO disappointed. They took out all the character and it could really be anywhere. I just ordered to go food and while it was close to the old recipe, the portion was significantly smaller. I'm hoping they will still sell jars of their tea. I will try them one more time dining in because I really loved the old place, but I'm afraid I will be disappointed again. read more

ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Amazing!!!! Okay let me back up a few steps, or like 45 minutes. I was skeptical that I would find anything good other than fried chicken in Memphis. But I love Greek food and a Sun Studio worker recommended this place based on its authenticity. So, we came and it did not disappoint! I've been to Greece and live in Glendale, CA, maybe the largest most prominent Armenian community in the US, so I know good Mediterranean cuisine when I try it. This fits the bill. The Moraccan soup, the falafel (this will make you fall in love with falafel) and the shawarma all seriously killed it. And the chocolate mousse desert... OMG! Wow....I'd have taken pictures but the food didn't last long enough lol. Here's one of the carnage-- on second thought no that's gross. Here's a picture of inside read more

This used to be one of my favorite places. It's been a couple of years since I had been back so my sister in law and I decided to meet there for lunch. We sat down and the young lady who was the hostess also came over and took our order. I won't even begin with the fact that she was wearing a sleep bonnet. Yes, yes, I know it's a thing now and if she was just walking around hanging out with friends I would have nothing to say. Excuse me if I don't want the person serving my food to look like they just got out of bed. The young lady took our order and the meal came out almost immediately. (I should have left at that point). We immediately were swarmed by and had to fight gnats. After taking a look around, you could see them all over the walls!! (Video provided) (My fault for not paying closer attention when I sat down). All I can say is completely disgusted! I will NEVER come back to this place. read more

The food is wonderful. I enjoy the lunch menu for dine in or take out. The remodeling is beautiful. Bright and inviting.

We ordered takeout. Food was ready in time. Everything was delicious. The hummus was wonderful and the lamb shawarma was absolutely perfect.

Incredible experience here! Our waiter was so kind and gave us recommendations for what we should order. My partner and I had the mint tea and shared the hummus with chicken shawarma (#36) and it was fantastic! Best shawarma hummus we've ever had. They have the best falafel I have ever had. Soft and flavorful on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside. I have eaten a lot of their menu items over the years and never been disappointed. Their tea is delicious. It has hints of mint and sage and is honey sweetened. They serve it hot or cold and they are both great. My favorite Mediterranean restaurant in Memphis. read more

I can't even tell you how disappointed we were here. The restaurant itself looks cute from the outside. Inside is got a good little ambiance. And there actually was a lot on the menu. We ordered the lentil soup, which was alright. Probably the better of what we ate. Then we got chicken schwarma. That chicken was so gross. It tasted nothing like any chicken schwarma I've ever eaten. It was slimy and just weird. The rice had vegetables piled in the middle of it. Who does that. The waitress never came to check on us. We actually had to find someone else to get our check. We spend about 60 bucks on dinner and left super hungry. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant really. Not if you are use to good Mediterranean food. read more

Once in a while my husband and I will talk about select restaurants with longing, and Casablanca is one of those places. We were in town for a quick overnighter and stumbled upon this place on Yelp. We are big fans of Mediterranean food and were eager to try a new place out. Sitting on their outdoor patio during golden hour was the best way to start our dinner. We really love dining outside when we can. Their indoor seating was charming and well decorated too. To start, their "Best Tea in Memphis" is really just that. I have never had such flavorful black tea besides chai. The ginger, sage, mint and honey was the most amazing combination I've ever had. It's tastier than southern sweet tea! Enjoy it hot or iced. For our meal we shared the "Sultan Mezza Combo" because we enjoy sampling many items. It was generous for two people, and would no doubt get you full. It came with hummus, baba ghanoush, falafel, grape leaves, tabbouleh and pita. We also each added a cup of "Moroccan Soup." I'm really impressed with their array of menu choices. All kinds of meat served like lamb, chicken, fish, beef, and decent vegetarian options as well. We treated ourself to homemade chocolate mousse for dessert and it was rich decadent goodness. Wish I would have bought a bottle of their olive oil made by the owner's father in Jerusalem. Luckily, I plan on being back sooner than later. read more

Love Casablanca. If it's your first time, the SHAWERMA PLATE is the first entree you need to try here. Other good choices are the lamb kebab plate or pita sandwiches. The portions here are HUGE and this is the main reason why I love coming to Casablanca beside the fact that the food is amazing too. Fresh ingredients, great flavor (the sauce they provide with for the meats is delicious), and perfectly cooked rice and veggies. Also, you will never go wrong with their tea. So good. free refills too. I'm pretty eager to try the moussaka and moroccan soup next time! I usually order to go at this location and parking on the street is super easy (parallel, but plenty of space). I'm in and out within a few minutes, but sometimes do have to find a waiter to get my order. read more

This is literally some of the tastiest food I've had in Memphis, and the ambiance is amazing! I got the Chicken Shawarma with hummus. I didn't want to eat the pita slices because I'm trying to lower my carb intake and they were kind enough to bring me cucumber slices. The vegetables were extremely fresh. The meal was absolutely divine! The layout and interior design make you feel like you've been transported all the way to Morocco. I love restaurants that make you feel like you're on vacation. They also have an incredible deck that has ample seating. Our meal was about $15 per person. The only challenge can be parking. I suggest you park on Madison Avenue. I have BIG plans to return on a regular basis and make my way through the menu. read more

The service was not great. I called my order in so I cannot say I expected great service. I ordered the salmon with rice and extra rice and the rice was dry and the salmon was overcooked. I also ordered drinks, and the order was repeated back to me, yet no drinks were received nor on the check.
