Another coffee shop!? I went from complaining that Downey had no coffee shops from having too many. Some claiming they are specialty coffee shops like this one. Yeah I guess it's a specialty coffee shop. This establishment is on the corner of fifth Street and Paramount Boulevard. It's inside a Medical plaza on the first floor. Parking is a little tight but managed to find a spot. I didn't have high expectations since I didn't see my usual espresso machine or a cortado on the menu. I ordered my usual hot oat milk latte no flavoring. And I was pleasantly surprised, the coffee beans didn't taste burnt, and the temperature of the coffee was just right. Of course I wanted to try a delicious pastries, but I can't have sugar for breakfast. Maybe some other time that cinnamon roll will make it in my pansa. Came in earlier this morning. I have had good experience the past two times I came but unfortunately this morning's experience was not up to par. I ordered an oreo cookie as I had it last time and it was so good, only to be given a cold cookie whereas the previous time it was warm, soft, and marshmallows were nice & melted over the cookie (which makes it so delicious). Unfortunately today, our cookie was barely warm and when I asked politely if they could warm it up for a little bit longer, one of the girl's told me "was it not warm enough?". She took it back and warmed it up again but still it came out with the middle cold and marshmallows not melted even in the slightest. Wish service was just a bit more consistent but I know its a newer spot as well so we will see. read more

While I was on my daily walk, I noticed a new coffee shop opening! I was very lucky today because they are open! I got a Spanish latte which has condensed milk, and cinnamon! To my surprise, the coffee was very fresh and smooth! I am very lucky. It is a five minute walk from my house, so I will be coming back more often! I'm The staff was very friendly and let me know the coffee grounds were freshly grounded this week! If you wanted to sit and enjoy your coffee, they have plenty of seats! read more

The quality of the matcha was quite good and with the balance of sweet from real fruit, my Strawberry Matcha was delicious. The only suggestion I have here would be to provide boba-sized straws since the strawberry chunks sometimes got stuck in my straw. The desserts all looked good. My 9-year old daughter is always asking me to bring home goodies for her so, for this selection, I chose a Mallow Cookie, Oreo Cookie, Pistachio Banana Bread, and Ube Bread. My husband and daughter devoured the cookies and the Ube bread was my favorite from the lot. I had brief encounters with a few different employees and all were very pleasant. The Strawberry Matcha defaults to oat milk and the staff checked to make sure that option was good for me while ordering. They were busy but everything was prepared in a decent time frame. The cafe has a nice atmosphere with cute decorations, background music playing, and good AC which is so important in the summer heat. Unfortunately, I don't live locally but will be making an effort to come back when I'm in town to visit my family. read more

I live in Vegas but was in town for the weekend and decided to stop by Mallow, and I'm so glad I did! The atmosphere was really nice, and the staff greeted me right when I walked in. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. I got the strawberry matcha, and Marie mentioned that the purée was homemade, which honestly made it even better because it was delicious! She also offered me different milk alternatives and was really sweet and attentive while taking my order. I also noticed Danny making sure everything was running smoothly, keeping the place clean, and checking that everyone was happy with their orders. It was nice to see the staff actually paying attention to the little things. Overall, I had a really good experience. I saw that they had cold brew einspanner but no regular cold brew. I asked for just a regular one and they said oh we can take out the cream and foam (whatever they put on top) and she was going to charge me the same price. Wtf? So I asked for just an ice americano and she asked me if I wanted hot or iced. Smfh. Got the iced "americano" and got coffee tea water. Hardly any espresso in it. Maybe they only put one shot of espresso in it? Either way I took one sip and tossed it. Maybe their lattes are better? Won't be coming back to try. Plenty of parking though. read more

We stopped by during Cafe Mallow's soft launch and were excited to try the coffee. unfortunately it was disappointing. We ordered an iced Spanish latte and a Biscoff latte with no modifications, and both tasted like mostly milk with very little coffee flavor or sweetness. One thing that also stood out was that my drink was only about half full. When we asked about it, we were told that's how it measured out. While I understand a soft launch can be busy, I still expect a coffee shop's coffee to be the highlight. I wanted to love it, especially with all the hype but I left feeling underwhelmed. Finally the wait is over! Our neighborhood coffee shop finally opened and it did not disappoint. My family and I visited on 7/15 around 8:45am. I was surprised it wasn't busier given that the location is in a medical building but I wasn't complaining. I glanced over their delicious looking cookies and decided on the Oreo one. We had the chance to try the Biscoff Cookie Latte which was amazing! Bold, yet sweet but not overly sweet, creamy, and had all the Biscoff flavors- yum! My husband tried the Sea Salt Caramel Latte and it was delicious as well. The cookie was a hit with my 5 year old too. The place is very spacious with plenty of seating which I loved. A perfect place to get some work done when I need an escape from my home office. The only thing I would've liked would have been a little more friendliness and enthusiasm from their staff. There were about 5 workers that day but I can't say that I felt a super warm welcome. Given that it's a new place that just opened, I would be greeting all customers with the upmost enthusiasm and friendliness but didn't really feel that way. As I mentioned, I live in the neighborhood and plan to visit here often but if I am greeted coldly or indifferently every time, then I'll just go to Starbucks. Other than that, I look forward to giving this place another try since I live across the street and hope their customer engagement improves a bit. The cafe was lowkey disappointing. I had seen it all over instagram and I was excited to try their matchas they looked really good. But I got the double matcha and literally had no matcha taste which is sad considering it's literally supposed to be double matcha even the matcha foam color looked off too I really wanted to like it but as someone who always drinks matcha and makes it at home this wasn't good quality matcha that they are using. I hope they change their matcha powder that they use to a better quality one because I would love to come back and be able to actually enjoy a matcha here! Im a chocolate addict and let me tell you the chocolate banana bread did not disappoint it was SUPER chocolatey, definitely satisfied my craving. I ordered the matcha cloud foam and biscoff latte and honestly it was good but needs improvement. All staff were really nice but it's ALWAYS crowded and a/c was a bit less than ok. There r places to sit but they were taken and thats what happened to me. I often drive by and notice that it's packed every time. Over all, I would give it five but the matcha needs a little work cuz it's a bit too sweet. Same with the biscoff too, needs to be more balanced. (I got a cookie and it was good btw) read more
