Very disappointing since I used to go here a lot when it first opened. Today the margarita pizza was very good. I ordered the Shrimp arrabiata and it was made with jalapeño peppers. Since when do Italians cook with jalapeño peppers. How about hot red chili peppers or even hot pepper from a jar. It through off the taste. Hello, I'm Italian . Have gone here several times. Lunch menus I find the salad very small and not enough for a meal but they have some tasty selections for lunch at great prices. For dinner nice selection, delicious big salads . I don't think their linguini with clam sauce very good . However, their veal dishes consistently delicious as was the grilled calamari. In a strip mall but pretty inside, very comfortable seating. Drinks usually good. Service fair. Be sure to ask how much specials are because sometimes those prices are through the roof. read more

Cafe Luna has the potential of getting 5 stars. The interior is stylish and much nicer than you'd expect from the outside. They have a very nice bar area. The staff is friendly. The food, for the most part, is rather good. But the place is noisy. Very noisy. We were there on a Friday night and we found it a strain to converse with the people at our table. If they add some sound control to soften the racket, and play softer music, I'd add a star right away. To get 5 stars they'd have to make their entree portions more equitable. Some dishes have rather ample portions, while some are skimpy. For example, I ordered veal pizzaola and my friend ordered the pork chop. He got 2 large chops and ended up taking one home, whereas my meat was 1/4 the size and I was still hungry afterwards. My wife had grilled shrimp. and our fiend had a red snapper dish. The snapper was huge, and the shrimp dish contained minuscule shrimp. read more

I am originally from Staten Island and was never disappointed at the other location. My brother and I took my parents, our wives and kids there for my mothers birthday. They seated us next to this large and really loud table. The waiter had to apologize multiple times for the loud table that was also cursing alot. The owner who was clearly friends with them made no attempt to quite them. They would not move us. The table of 2 next to us got up and left without ordering. I've been to this restaurant three times and every time is inconsistent. We had reservations and it seemed like everyone was getting seated before us because they knew the owner or the manager. There are better Italian restaurants around that are better prices with better consistent quality food. The staff is inconsistent also. The first time we had an awesome wauter, second time the waiter only came to out table maybe 3 times and we had to call over a waitress to serve our food and help us. There is a party room adjacent to the main dining area with a long window like opening in the wall. This sends noise directly into the main dining area. I have been to many Italian restaurants in my lifetime. This was absolutely the best. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and truly cared about your dining experience. The food was very fresh from the vegetables to the meat dishes. The presentation of each dish was a work of art. The music was at the right level and it was just right for the ambiance. This is a place for date night or good friends having a good time. It may not be the best place for young children--even teenagers. They just won't appreciate it and you would have wasted extra money. The outside marquee and the location in a strip mall reminds me of a New Jersey diner from the 70's and it could easily be bypassed. But don't let that fool you. This place is a winner. I expected great things from Cafe Luna after reading all the reviews here and on Yelp. I was also born and raised in NJ so I know what "Great" Italian food tastes like. I didn't get anything close from Cafe Luna. Here's what my family and I did get. We arrived at 8:30 very hungry after a long drive, we were seated right away and decided what we wanted quickly after looking at the menu. Our waiter was very nice and did everything he could to make us feel welcome. After taking our order he brought our drinks and their bread and butter quickly. He told us he put our order in and that it shouldn't take long and it shouldn't have. We ordered the shrimp cocktail to share, my husband ordered their Penne Siciliana, and I ordered their Fettuccine Alfredo. My husband and I were traveling with our 9 year old grandson who wasn't very hungry but would try some of ours. Cafe Luna closes at 10 pm on Tuesday but at 8:45 pm on this Tuesday there were still many diners and also luckily, many empty tables. While we were waiting for our food, we couldn't help hearing parts of a conversation four men at another table about 20- 25 feet from ours having about work or money. One man was clearly close to being drunk and started cursing very loudly. At first my husband and I tried to ignore it as did the couples on either side of our table, but after several minutes those couples left. For 30 minutes we waited for our food and for 30 minutes we listened to this man say (f?ck) loud enough for my 9 year old with headphones on to hear it my husband wanted to leave, but I was still hungry and I thought our food must be ready, so instead we asked our waiter to move us to another table. They did, but not far enough so 10 minutes later when our food still hadn't arrived we got up to leave. That's right we waited over 40 minutes, when we got up to leave the waiter arrived with the shrimp cocktail. When I saw what I waited 40 minutes for I couldn't believe it...4 shrimp on ice with a small saucer of cocktail sauce! As I ate my 4 shrimp which were hard and not completely deveined the man across the room was getting more drunk and louder at one point got so mad he stood up saying (f this) and walked out. Unfortunately one of the other men went out and brought him back, so we continued to hear (f?ck) from across the room. By now my husband is mad and as we get up to leave our waiter and the manager quickly come to apologize for the language being used saying to me, "I know what I'd like to say to them before I throw them, but what can I do". He apologized for the food being late and offered to move us again and stupidly we agreed! This time while we waited 10 more minutes for our Entrees to be served we got to hear the men across the room cursing but now we got to hear the people behind us denigrate every nationality they could think of only they were a bit quieter or maybe the men were louder? We also watched stunned when the manager went over to the men and apparently was invited to sit down, did so for several minutes. Finally after 50 minutes, it's almost 9:30 the waiter comes out with our food apologizing to us saying that the kitchen is "slammed", but the close in 30 min at 10:00. The reviews I'd read suggested the food is wonderful so as I started eating I expected it to be wonderful, however the homemade fettuccine wasn't, it was all stuck together like it hadn't been stirred while in the pot and the cream sauce had no flavor. It tasted like they forgot to add the Parmesan cheese, my husband said his Penne Siciliana could have been awesome if it had been hot. I do realize that a restaurant shouldn't be criticized for the people who dine there, but the manager could have and should has asked them to talk quieter, he could have told them guests were offended by their language, and after an hour he could have asked them to leave. He also could have and should have compensated us for making us wait an hour, for the lousy service, and/or for the lousy food, but he didn't. So we paid our bill which was almost $60.00 and vowed never to go back. We also vowed to warn others of our experience by writing an honest review. read more

we ate there most recently 2 weeks ago, food excellent as usual, comfort level and treatment by the wait staff, uncomfortable and indifferent , also as usual. AC system felt like we were in a winter storm , napkin around the bread basket actually flapping in the breeze, main meals actually became cold from the cold air blasting on the table. voiced our displeasure and the reaction was just complete avoidance , not even further eye contact from anyone who worked there. we did email through the website about the problem and we have received no response. the staff at the hostess table and the waiter who watched us walk out seemed to think it was all quite amusing. Maybe the owner was not present that night as this is certainly not what other people are saying, then again most of the praise is about the bar staff, Too bad as we really like the food but the lack of respect from the dining room leaves a really bad impression. read more

Went for lunch recently. Food & service were good very nice atmophere & decor. This place could probably be doing more business but it looks closed. If I hadnt actually openEd the door and looked in to see if there was anyone in the place, I would have assumed the place was closed. From the outside, it looks dark & empty.
