I've been to this location four times -- once on a date, once on another date (lol), once with younger family members on a holiday, and another time with my girlfriends. Every single time, it did not disappoint. What I love about this place is that it has the decor and vibe of a trendy Manhattan spot, but the manager and even the girls at the front are super sweet and welcoming. It has an upscale vibe, but still feels warm and approachable. The food is fantastic, the service is wonderful, the drinks are great, and the decor is beautiful. I haven't experienced the live music yet, but a couple of times I went on the weekends it had a fun party vibe with great music. If you're going on a date and want it a little quieter, I'd suggest going earlier in the evening. I also think there are certain days with live music and others that are more low-key. An expensive lesson in overhyped venues...Let me start positive. The service and attention was the best you could ask for. That being said, the $35 Chicken Parm is so fantastic you have to pay extra for the pasta. I was afraid to ask what the $235 Tomahawk Steak didn't come with. The meal is presented fabulously in 2D. The small portions are spread sparingly across the nice big long plates with a colorful manage of sauces framing your meal, giving the illusion that the serving is generous and worthy of celebration. The event ends long before your palette is quenched and you find yourself calculating that the experience may not be worth the cost. A notion confirmed upon receiving the check. The pretentious "social club" in title leads those blindly paying almost $20 for a cocktail in the expectation that not only their thirst will be satiated but their hearts as well. For if one is willing and has the means to afford such gifts for themselves, surely they can be persuaded to share their wealth. The attempt to combine a non traditional Italian restaurant with a privileged to enter social club becomes the pinnacle of indigestion as the shared sound system between the two venues is raised to a volume around sunset making it difficult to finish a discussion that started two minutes ago and impossible to start any new meaningful interlude. All this experience overload (and expense overload) comes with a real sense of regret when you realize upon leaving, that which seemed curious to you when you entered....I'm in a strip mall off Route 9 in central Jersey. Do yourself a favor, save your money and goto any number of the cool good time venues located in or around Old Bridge, NJ where the beers are still $5, the drinks are $10 and the cool vibes are free of regrets. read more

After moving from Virginia to New Jersey last August, we have tried several good restaurants, but none captured the vibrant atmosphere of a New York City--or even Jersey City--restaurant until we celebrated my birthday dinner at Madison Modern Social. From the moment we walked in and were greeted by the friendly hostesses, we knew this would be a different experience. The large bar, spacious dining room, and live band setup immediately created a lively and welcoming vibe. Our server, Adam, was exceptional--one of the best we have experienced anywhere, domestically or internationally. He was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and made sure everyone in our group--including our grandson--felt taken care of. He even helped take family photos and surprised me with a birthday dessert. The menu and wine list are extensive. Our appetizers--calamari, nuggets, and ribs--were delicious, and the main courses, including sushi, eggplant, and branzino, were excellent. The live band was fantastic and kept our grandson entertained throughout the evening. Before leaving, we made a point to let the manager know how outstanding Adam and the entire experience were. Delicious food! I loved the shrimp tacos and the whipped ricotta app was amazing. For dessert, we got the lava explosion. It was super rich and sweet and perfect for sharing among the table. Would highly recommend making a resy ahead of time as they tend to book up quick! Service is top notch, they check on you often and clear the table quickly. I didn't know such a venue existed! The parking lot is huge, and the store has valet services. As soon as you walk in you're greeted by a welcoming, well designed bar, and several seating arrangements surrounding it. The service was also exceptional. I felt as though I had to fight to keep my plate haha - Caesar Salad with Chicken, (3.8/5): I've been on a big Caesar salad kick. It was nicely seasoned and the veggies tasted fresh. The chicken however was very dry and had a burnt taste. The boiled egg tasted like it was left in the fridge for too long. It was a big portion which I liked - Ricotta bread, (4/5): we split this amongst 4 of us. We each got 2 pieces of bread and got to spread delicious cheese, berries and honey. Great as an appetizer - Calamari, (4/5): soft and tender pieces with a great crunch. The spicy mayo was a great touch. You are definitely coming here for the ambiance rather than the food. Came here for my birthday the other night. We walked in not expecting anything. The hostess opened this massive door (gorgeous door btw and both hostesses were duper nicer nice) to beautiful space! The restaurants decor is very modern, sexy, and eye catching. It wasn't too filled since we dined early and it was a Sunday. Literally everything on the menu sounded great! Ultimately, we chose Calamari and the whipped ricotta cheese with fig for an app. Entrees I got the halibut Andy hubs got the last beef Wellington. Just an FYI - Beef Wellies are 1st come 1st serve, they only make a certain amount a day. Our dinner was 6:30, so yeah! Come early if you want a beef wellie. For sides we got the cauliflower gratin, whipped potatoes, and the Brussels sprouts. For drinks my husband got an old fashion and I got a mocktail Tea Thyme. For dessert my husband got churros and I got the lava cake. Everything was absolutely FANTASTIC and made us go WOW! The food was cooked to perfection, they were decadent, and tantalizing. Went to celebrate my daughter's birthday with my wife. My wife has gone a couple times but this was my first. Had a great experience. We ordered a bunch of items to share. Wife got the Chefs Crudo and she loved it. We then ordered the Madison Caesar, Short Rib Quesadilla, Calamari, Crispy Brussels Sprouts, and a Skirt Steak Frites. The Caesar, Calamari and Steak Fries were our favorites and would order them again right away. The Brussel Sprouts were very interesting. Wasn't expecting the sweet initial taste, but grew to really enjoy it. If I had to get a side dish, I may choose a different side to try but it was definitely a pleasant experience. The quesadilla was probably the one dish we probably wouldn't order again, though I enjoyed it. Waiter was amazing and the ambience was really nice. It's located on Route nine in the Old Bridge strip mall plenty of parking but it's nice that they offer valet and it's digital valet so when you want your car, you go through the app that was a nice touch. When we walked in we were greeted reservations are definitely recommended because the place was packed. Our reservations were honored and we were seated right away unfortunately it was just me and my husband so we had a table for two parallel to the bar, which is gorgeous, but it was by a window that was very drafty. I mean it was 5° last night so the draft was pretty bad I was server. Brandon was excellent. He went over all of the specials, the drink menu, and the main menu it's very extensive menu. We didn't order any sushi, which I would probably do next time. The decor is beautiful the entire place is dark and decorated beautifully. It can get very loud because it's very crowded. The bar was standing room only to circular bar. That's absolutely stunning now onto the food.; Appetizer: We did the bread, butter tasting. This was absolutely delicious. There's three types of butter sadly I don't remember which ones they were all three with fantastic. And then we did a wedge salad, which was delicious. Main course: I ordered the lamb chop special which was delicious. I didn't want any sides because I was getting full. My husband got the New York strip with garlic mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious. He even sliced the steak for us. And then, because it was my birthday, they brought out I want to say for dessert. It was a banana bread. It was out of this world. I had a really great time at this stunning restaurant. The bar is just beautiful, I don't think there's anything else like it in NJ. Our group of 7 sat at a large table with a lazy Susan in the middle which was great for sharing plates. We were out celebrating my friend's birthday and MMS was perfect for the occasion. Everything was 5 stars - the drinks, the atmosphere, the service - except the food. Everything we tried was good enough, but nothing to write home about. The appetizers came out quickly, but all room temperature/borderline cold. We tried the clams casino, octopus, arancini, and the whipped ricotta (my favorite out of the appetizers). I ordered the lemon linguine for my entree, and again, it was good, but didn't "wow" me. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of lump crab meat and shrimp in the dish. We ordered the chocolate Dubai dessert at the end of the night which was just straight up disappointing. It could have accurately been described as the tiniest chocolate Swiss roll you've ever seen with some phyllo dough inside (no pistachio in sight). The drinks were phenomenal. I ordered 2 rounds of the "like it dirty", which is essentially a dirty martini with white truffle oil, and would have ordered another if I didn't have to drive. As a dirty martini AND truffle lover, it was simply addicting. I will probably dream of this specific drink any time I have an original dirty martini from here on out. I would definitely recommend MMS for large parties and celebrations. The DJ playing that night was tasteful and made for an overall fun experience. We attempted to split the check at the end of the night amongst 5 cards, and somehow the transactions got totally botched (all different amounts, some getting charged less and some getting charged more). Next they take you through the massive entry door for the grand reveal of the actual restaurant. The restaurant has 3 sections... Main bar area: This is where the band sets up on Tuesday nights. The DJ booth is here and huge booths line the walls. A few tables as well. Dining room: This is where most of the dining tables are as well as a smaller bar. We were seated in a very comfortable corner table. Very intimate. (I think they have 2 of these if you'd like to request it) Dim lighting when window shades are down. Back dining room: This separate dining room is very nice with beautiful chandeliers. Much brighter in this area if the dining room is too dark for you. Also seems like this room can be blocked off for private parties. The menu has variety for all from chicken nuggets to caviar. The sushi was fresh and delicious. The lemon linguine was amazing. They make all pasta in-house. For cocktails, I was impressed with the Smoke & Mirrors. Vanilla gelato was exceptional. Service also was top tier. Great job James! The trio band perfected the mood with smooth sounds. Even though we couldn't see them from our table, we heard them just fine. When they took breaks, the vibe continued. We were seated immediately, definitely wasn't super packed, but lively. I think this is a great spot for girls brunch/night out, date night, or a private event. Alexis was our server and she was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I ordered the eggplant bruschetta, which was tasty enough, definitely didn't blow my mind or make me want to order it again. Plus is that it was fresh and light... needed seasoning and was just a bit underwhelming. But, believe it or not, the star of my meal was my side of fries lol. They were delicious.. shoestring, perfectly salted and crispy.. Yummy! I appreciated that they had mocktails on the menu, and I thoroughly enjoyed my Madison Lemonade (blueberry, honey, lemon, and lime) perfectly balanced drink that was not too sweet. We followed the GPS to this restaurant but was so surprised when it led us to The Shoppes at Old Bridge! The restaurant has a NYC vibe and the ambiance is energetic. Our waiter was attentive and good. Food was beautifully presented and delicious. My husband and I ordered 3 apps (because everything sounded unique and good) in addition to our 2 entrees. We had to wrap our entrees to go because we couldn't eat anymore! For apps, we ordered: - bread: this was soft, warm and slightly sweet, like a large loaf of Hawaiian bread. It came with soft butter, soft honey butter and another spread that looks like butter seasoned with an herb. It was delicious but to me, bread service should be complimentary rather than purchases as an app! - shrimp tacos: this came with 2 soft tacos loaded with fried shrimp and a slaw of some kind. Hubby ate this and he really liked it. This could easily have been an entree for me -wagyu bacon: wow! This was so good! To be honest, I don't know if it was actually wagyu because you can't get true wagyu in the US but, the flavor of this beef was phenomenal! The beef is sliced thin and has a crispy, crunchy, charred exterior coupled with juicy soft meat, definitely give this a try at least once! For my entree, I ordered the bolognese pasta. All of their pastas are house made fresh. The sauce could have used a little more salt or seasoning but otherwise, it was good, hearty and fresh. Hubby ordered the pork chop. Modern Social is a hip, contemporary spot in Old Bridge that makes you feel like you accidentally drove into Hoboken, Jersey City, or NYC. Did the owners double-check that lease? Because it feels like this place missed the memo that it's in a quiet Jersey suburb--and I mean that in the best way. My friends and I grabbed a 6:30 reservation last night for a birthday dinner, and from the second we stepped inside, the vibe was on point. The 360 revolving door near the entrance was a fun, immersive touch--suddenly, we weren't in a strip mall anymore but walking into a sleek, not-so-speakeasy bar. Between the six of us, we ordered a spread of small plates, individual entrees, and a borderline irresponsible number of cocktails. The results? Mostly hits, a few misses, and some very quick hot takes: Fried Rice Arancini - The sleeper hit of the night. Crispy outside, soft and fluffy inside, and packed with that craveable umami punch. Short Rib Quesadilla - Hearty, juicy, and well-seasoned. A comfort-food classic leveled up. Steak Tartare - Great to see it on the menu (a rare find in NJ), but the execution missed. While the portion was generous, the actual steak got lost under the latke and cream. Tasty, sure--but more Hanukkah appetizer than raw meat showcase. Spicy Crab Salad - Real crab, real heat. A little too spicy for me, but the rest of the table was into it. Definitely not your average kani salad. Chicken Skewers - The peanut satay sauce slapped. The chicken itself was just okay, but the flavors transported me straight back to Malaysia/Singapore street food stalls. Piri-Piri Grilled Shrimp - Good size, well-cooked, but flavor-wise? Meh. Needed more punch. When it came to mains, things got a little uneven. We ordered six different entrees spanning the globe, and while the ambition was clear, the results were mixed. The pasta dishes, especially the Lobster Gnocchi, were standouts. Pillow-soft gnocchi in a rich lobster sauce--worth the $40 price tag, and dare I say, a bargain compared to the rest of the menu. Then came the Beef Wellington. Visually stunning and well-executed puff pastry, but with a stingy amount of steak inside. At $80, you're basically paying for presentation and a buttery shell. Not a total flop--but definitely not $80 of satisfaction either. Cocktails? No notes. Every drink was beautifully crafted and delicious, if a bit pricey at $18 a pop. That didn't stop us from ordering round after round, of course. Final thoughts: Modern Social is ambitious, stylish, and already doing a lot right--but the menu could use some editing. The pricing is inconsistent (e.g., $20 tartare that could make a whole meal vs. $16 for two chicken skewers), and the global mishmash of offerings--from sushi rolls to quesadillas to mashed potatoes--feels like it's trying to be everything to everyone. Tighter curation (Asian fusion or Italian/steakhouse vibes) would help the kitchen focus and the concept really shine. That said, will we be back? Absolutely. Just maybe not for the Wellington. Super deceiving from the outside it is absolutely gorgeous & feels incredibly high end. From the moment you walk in you are treated with the utmost amount of care & the service is just as incredible. Our server, Brandon, was very attentive to allergies that we had and made sure to explain each part of every menu (they have so many menus and each has such great options). Mocktails were amazing and very flavorful. The pretzels were absolutely divine as well as the mozzarella & crispy rice with spicy tuna. One of my favorite things we ate was the truffle parm fries -- absolutely delicious. I would eat them everyday if I could! Such a heaping serving of truffle and parm. The Madison Naruto roll was also delicious and as I said previously, presentation was a 10/10! Went here recently for a friend's birthday celebration. I've been here for drinks and apps a few times but this was my first time for dinner. Rianna our server was phenomenal and had great recommendations. Ambiance is loud with club music playing most of the time. Not exactly conducive to conversation but we managed. Food ranged from good to very good. One great item was the burger I had. Apps we ordered were fried calamari, tuna tartare, wagyu beef bacon, wedge salad and the Madison Caesar. Entrees were filet mignon, beef wellington, the burger I had and two people split one of the sushi rolls. Everyone was happy with their meals. Debating whether to go back for dinner mostly because of the loudness of the place. Its one thing to spend an hour or so having drinks and apps in that environment but it's an entirely different thing when you're there for three hours during dinner amidst that noise. I know Im sounding like the old man yelling to get off my grass but Im at the point where I don't want to have to struggle to hear my dinner companions. Overall we had a good time. There was a jazz band which was a nice plus but not if u sitting right next to them. We asked to move and thank goodness it was possible. We ate at the big booths for 8 of us roomy with a lazy Susan. My drink was a Blackpearl no jalapeño nice. Prices are on the high side. Three types of bread and we had them all. The pretzel one was fabulous and made in house. I personally had a sushi roll and shortrib quesadilla which were wonderful. My husband had the shortrib Wellington which was VERY expensive so it should come with 1 side at least and be for 2 people. Birthday girl had chicken parm with no side either. Hubby had the banana bread for dessert that I took a few bites of it was fabulous best I have ever had. We took home the rest. I had a piece of his Wellington today for lunch I can honestly say one of the best things I have eaten better than Hell's Kitchen in Vegas. I would definitely go back just for those two things. I've been wanting to come here since they opened. Figured it was a good time to try for my birthday. This sits in a shopping center, but once you're inside, you would never know. There is a grand door that opens upon checking in that takes you into a sexy, lounge type establishment. We got seated right away. Our server was really nice but unfortunately, the recommendations she made, we didn't love. We figured since we've never been here, it would be best to try a bunch of things and split everything amongst us. I started off with a drink that was recommended, but honestly, I hated it. Thankfully they allowed me to send it back but the pear drink was way too overpowered by the lemon and not well balanced. I ended up just getting a traditional lychee martini, which was safe. For the food: -we got the honey lemon ricotta -very good but they give 3 pieces of bread with a much larger serving of ricotta, so we asked for more. -surf and turf sushi roll-extremely underwhelming for $30 and the coconut shrimp which was very bland -the halibut special wasn't bad but my friends didn't like it -the branzino we liked the crisp to it, very very simple flavor -the Mac and cheese had almost no flavor -cauliflower also no flavor -mashed potatoes were drenched in a puddle of oil with multiple cloves of garlic we couldn't even eat it -lava cake for birthday dessert was very dry and more cake than lava. Also strangely decorated with green icing it kind of looked like a mini donut The majority of the food items were just awfully bland and we didn't enjoy them. They take your order for the food all together but bring it out at separate times. Apparently, there was an issue where all of our food came out at once. The manager came over, it wasn't that big of a deal, but there was so much food on our table all at once. I appreciate the intention of what this restaurant is trying to be, but at this price point, they missed the mark with several things. **FOOD POISONING** I will start off by saying the place was wonderful. The staff, the decor and the vibes were all immaculate. The drinks were outstanding and we had the Branzino which was pretty good and the beef Wellington which was actually amazing- loved every single bite. Unfortunately about 4 hours after the meal my wife and I fell very ill. Vomitting and liquid diarrhea all night long, what a shame really had a great date here and the cost was 300$. Wish that didn't happen as we were planning to tell everyone what a nice time we had and actually wanted to come back asap with more couples. Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and it was pretty good. I was surprised to pull up and find out it was located in a strip mall, but between the valet service and inside decor, you forget as soon as you are inside. They have dim lighting and curtains, that transform the place to have an NYC type ambience. We had a reso and were quickly sat and between the bread service, and rice balls and shrimp taco appetizers (all of which were amazing), we were already pretty full. For entrees, my friend had the Coconut Shrimp Roll and I had the Volcano Roll. Both were extremely flavorful, but I found $32 for 6 rolls to be a little pricey. For dessert, we opted for the churro bites, again, $16 for "bites" is extreme, but hey, I guess it's part of the experience. We tried a few of their specialty drinks: The Golden Goose, Smoke & Mirrors, and Water Your Flowers. All very creative and with cute garnish. The service was great too, as our server was very helpful and attentive. However, I did find it odd they have a rule you have to order all your food (apps and entrees) at once. Apps still come out first, unless you specify to bring it together, but I found that strange and never got a chance to ask the server why. Overall, I can't say I'd definitely come back, as it was almost $300 for not a ton of food, but we did leave full and satisfied. I WAS SERVED A LIVE CRAB. Came here for dinner last night. We ordered a round of drinks along with multiple small plates, appetizers, and entrees for our party, including oysters. After eating the oysters, I looked down and found a LIVE CRAB on my plate. I notified our server, who brought over a manager. The first manager simply said sorry and told me I would not have to pay for that dish. Another manager then came over, pulled up a search about crabs in oysters and said "that in some places this is considered a delicacy." The owner also came by and tried to encourage us to order more food and drinks, saying at least we knew "the seafood was fresh." I politely declined and left without eating. The managers lacked service recovery and customer service skills, and while the owner was friendly, it felt more like sweet talking than addressing the issue. The only person who seemed genuinely apologetic was our server. Needless to say, I will not be returning. read more

First I made a reservation 2 weeks ago for 2 when I arrived they were putting us in a table by a pole that was big enough for one my girlfriend complained and they moved us to a real table . We ordered I got skirt steak under cooked small but covered by plenty of fries she ordered chicken parm dry as a bone and it did not come with any side had to order a side for 14.00 no bread on the table i wanted water they gave me a small glass and no ice. Madison Modern Social is a fairly new restaurant in Old Bridge. It's nestled in the back of The Shoppes at Old Bridge. At first the entry way seems ordinary until the staff opens the large door that takes you into an oasis. The space seems fairly large with two large bars, multiple tables, and private event areas. The staff is attentive and are willing to provide recommendations. The calamari dish is a large portion and is pretty good. I enjoyed their mocktails and cocktails which seem to be one of their core competencies. However, dinner just wasn't a hit for me. It was good but wasn't anything spectacular for the price. The Wellington had loose layers and wasn't tightly wrapped. The short rib was tender and I can see why they opted for short rib instead of a tenderloin but the short rib lacked flavor. The bone marrow bordelaise added the flavor. The mashed potatoes were solid. Although I thought dinner was a little flat, I think this place has a lot of potential. read more
