Friendly, thoughtful service. I had a Greek Calzone which was absolute perfection. The crust was light, garlicky covering a mild cheesy garlic, , calamata olive pesto treat. I couldn't finish...could easily be shared for around $15. I thanked the chef, Jeff, who was kind and excited about food in Honoka'a and his restaurant. It was an enjoyable time. I hate to eat out, but this was the exception.

THE FOOD AND DRINKS WERE O.K. ============================ My sister and I received a recommendation to try this restaurant from a sales person at Bentley's Home Collection in Waimea. We then drove to Honokaa and stopped in for lunch on June 14, 2023. The menu was extremely limited with basically three kinds of pizza. It was a good thing we like pizza because we were hungry and tired. We ordered the veggie combo and a cocktail. I can't remember the name of the cocktail even after looking at the short list. It was good. Another thing that was strange is that they give you paper plates for the food. It really didn't blow our socks off, but it was acceptable.

This is a beautiful cafe with a welcoming atmosphere. The interior is nicely done in wood and stone tiles. The menu is varied with mainly Italian dishes. There are many entrees, and pizza , salads and sandwiches . There's a full bar and also desserts. The waitress was friendly and efficient. It's a comfortable place with great food. Recommended for lunch, dinner or a beer and pizza break.

Excellent food service and value. Worth every penny. I had Italian sausage calzone which is out of this world delicious. And my husband had spaghetti and meatballs and was raving about how delicious it was. Our server is very attentive. You do not want to miss these places

Waipio pizza, fresh vegetables, amazing crust. we also had a Greek Salad, but we inhaled it before I could snap a picture.

My family and I drove out to Honokaa for the day from Hilo. We hadn't eaten at Cafe il Mundo in years. We arrived at 12, and waited for our food for an hour. But totally worth the wait. Our server was very attentive. Always making sure that our water glasses were filled. Including my dog. Fresh salad, fantastic pizza with amazing crust. My friend asked for a specialty sandwich it was hot fresh and delicious. Over all food, service, and atmosphere was wonderful.

They surprised my friends with complimentary birthday desserts, which was a really nice touch. The house-made cannoli was definitely the standout as we all agreed. Yumm. Used to be consistently good, but three months ago and again yesterday--a Tuesday, not a weekend…read morenight, and early evening--there were many more diners than usual so they had to open up the room next door, a former art/antique gallery with 4-5 tables, rather dark and fusty, to seat everyone. One problem was there weren't nearly enough servers, and they hardly ever came into our room. So on our earlier visit, we were there for nearly three hours. There were two of us, both adults, with no special requests or concerns, and we shared a caprese salad, I had a glass of wine, and we each had a pasta entree. Neither of us eats really slowly. AND we had reservations. So...three hours? We sat at a bare table for half an hour before we even got silverware and napkins, but worse, although the salad was good, as usual, our entrees were uncharacteristically bad. In each each case, the pasta was ok, cooked to the right doneness, but the sauce on spaghetti bolognese" was a small amount of marinara sauce sprinkled with a few tablespoons of crumbled ground mystery meat that had no discernible seasoning, not even salt and pepper. We had noticed that the description on the menu had changed from meat sauce to marinara sauce and crumbled Italian sausage, but the meat didn't taste anything like Italian sausage. The spaghetti with meatballs was somewhat better, but the meatballs were overcooked and tough on the outside, and underseasoned. We were hoping for a better meal yesterday, and yes, we had reservations, but after being seated once again at a bare table in the auxiliary room, and waiting for 25 minutes, we were thinking we were going to get lousy service and bad food again, so we left. The only reason I'm giving the restaurant three stars is that in the past, on weekdays, when the restaurant was always, until last night, less crowded, with no overflow room required, the service and the food were much better, at least four stars. I hope the chef and other staff read this and it's a wakeup call...if you can't handle crowds, in the kitchen or in the dining rooms, limit your seating so you can do everything well, like you used to, or your regular customers like us are going to go away.

We ordered one small pizza to go and were happy to see how many options they had. Unfortunately for us, a lot of them included pork, which we don't eat. Still, I picked one pizza I was really curious about, and I was pleasantly surprised when they had no problem swapping pepperoni for chicken. That flexibility is always appreciated, and it never felt like we were limited just because we don't eat pork. We didn't dine in, but I noticed they have a really interesting cocktail menu, which fits the island vibe perfectly! To be honest, my husband wasn't expecting much, pizza isn't exactly what you come to Hawaii for, right? That's what we assumed. But wow, we were wrong. About 40 minutes later, back at our hotel (after a shower and everything), we finally sat down to eat, and the pizza was still amazing. Crunchy crust, great texture, and full, balanced flavors. We're no longer on vacation, but we still talk about this place and easily rank it in our top three food spots from our Big Island trip, which says a lot, because we're serious about pizza. If we ever come back to Hawaii (and I believe they have locations on other islands too), we will 100% be getting pizza from here again. Highly recommend giving it a try if you're visiting Hawaii
