Compared to other places there were limited flavors and toppings for the shave ice. The acai bowl combinations sounded interesting. The reason I lean toward 3.5 stars for the shave ice is primarily because of the texture. It did not have the smooth creamy texture you expect in a true shave ice. It was more like what I can produce with my blender at home. We ordered the POG (Pineapple, Orange, Guava) with Mango Syrup as a topper. It was good but very sweet and a bit artificial tasting and the mango syrup was overkill. We enjoyed the quaint atmosphere and would consider returning to try the acai bowls or dirty sodas next time we are on the Big Island, but we will likely look elsewhere for shave ice.

My only small complaint is the extra charge for each topping. Paying $0.50 per topping can add up pretty quickly. A couple other minor things: the lights kept turning off because of the motion sensors, and the young lady at the counter didn't seem very enthusiastic about helping explain the ordering process after we mentioned it was our first time there. The interaction felt a little rushed. That said, the ice cream was definitely good enough for me to come back again while I'm on the island for the next few days.
