December 19, 2025 - This chinese cafe is quaint but lively. It's kind of like a Chinese bar. The menu is gigantic, with so many different Asian options to choose from. The portions were also huge. I went with the happy meal with pork chop and grilled thin cut steak, with black pepper sauce and spaghetti and a Hong Kong milk tea. The plain spaghetti was nice and it soaked up the black pepper sauce very went. It also paired really well with the meats. We also got the wings special where we purchased a pitcher and got 20 pieces of fried chicken wings with gravy and French fries to split with the table. No complaints with the chicken or friends. Pretty standard fries and friend chicken wings. The chicken was nice and juicy. Overall, really good Asian comfort food. Easy to recommend.

3.5 stars. Come here only for wings, everything is mediocre. The HK style 20 wings for $20 a basket is a good deal and even better with a pitcher of beer, but I don't drink beer. The boys love eating the wings that comes with gravy and fries. We've been here twice and tried other stuff like satay beef in vermicelli and spaghetti with black pepper sauce with short ribs and steak. Both was okay, can't say it was amazing. The prices were decent and you can get a few meals for $50 with basket of wings. Next time we come, we'll probably just get wings.

Café Hollywood is an HK Café staple in the Markham area, a pillar of the community you could say. They've been around since 1993 and still very busy. I came here on a thursday evening for boys night, restaurant was packed, time was around 9PM. Ample parking spots in this plaza, the menu hasn't changed much over the years, the staples are all there. The beer and wings deal is the best bet as it has a wings special Wings Special - Purchase any pitcher of drinks at the price listed and get a wings basket for $9.99 (20 wings total with fries and gravy) Food: We ordered the above Wings Special - Purchase any pitcher of drinks at the price listed and get a wings basket for $9.99 (20 wings total with fries and gravy) - flavor choices are limited, when we got there the honey garlic bbq was sold out, so we opted for the honey garlic with a pitcher of Sapporo. Wings were crispy... could barely taste any garlic, honey was provided on the side as a dip (as they've been doing for a long time) Got a happy meal - chicken fillet with pork chop, black pepper sauce and spaghetti - dish was lacking flavor in general, missing msg, salt, something... a lot of things. portuguese style baked chicken on rice - same comments as the happy meal, just didn't hit the spot as it used to french toast with condensed milk and peanut butter - subpar compared to cha kee maybe it was because they were closing and staff were tired? last call was shortly after we came in, maybe 10pm or so, i dont know i was a little buzzed cause i aint eat nothing all day and was hoping for some blessed food at Cafe Hollywood I was wrong - food quality has gone downhill since i came 5-6 years ago, everything was mostly bland, elements of quality control are definitely lacking, maybe if i came earlier in the day it would be a different story but i dont know, i don't have intentions to go out of my way to eat here and if a friend suggested it to me i would rather just eat at the golden arches which even at 11pm doesn't disappoint me

Great prices for classic hk comfort food. I love coming here for the all day breakfast as it's just $10 with a noodle, eggs and ham, and a drink (hk milk tea or lemon tea is my fav). Most of all there known for the chicken wing basket so that's what I came for this time. I ordered a pitcher of the classic cold hk lemon tea and got the chilli pepper flavor for the wings it's basically garlic and black pepper. The fries are like Costco fries and the gravy matched great. Wings also was super crispy and the they tasted like it was cooked in new oil. The restaurant is in what I believe used to be a Burger King and they kept the drive thru window for take out. It has a lot of booths, and tables and wifi so perfect for groups. The lighting was great too only thing lacking with the waiters checking in to see if things are good or if you're missing anything.

Still a great staple HK cafe in this area. We came a bit after usual lunch hours and it wasn't too crowded. Service was quick and efficient, as many HK cafes are like. The menu has all your classic HK staples and the portion sizes are pretty generous. We were very surprised at the quality of the "Happy Meal" combo's grilled chicken! It was such a large piece of chicken and it was perfectly moist. The steak was just okay, very typical HK cafe style thin steak. The wings special also looked pretty interesting, although we didn't order it. It's $9.99 for 20pc wings with the purchase of any pitcher. They have a huge variety of pitchers available, including pitchers of HK milk tea, lemons tea, ciders, etc. This would be a great late night deal with some friends!

there are better options out there. I came here in a party of 5 and we each got baked rice and spaghetti. We hated them in different ways. Don't be fooled by the price please! Portuguese chicken baked rice - dry and no flavour. The meat was more shredded than usual. It is the worst one I've had Fried pork cutlet baked rice - the pork cutlet batter was so thick and not crispy. I can easily fry a better one at home. Fish filet white sauce spaghetti - The sauce was so thick and gooey. This place has gone downhill to the point that I regret coming here. The service was average. The restaurant was very loud with music and people.

Cheap wing baskets + drinks! I think like most people that come, they come for one thing only - cheap WINGS & DRINKS! That was the exact reason why I came as well! The basket of wings come with gravy and fries. And always - ALWAYS get the pitcher of drink that goes with the wings. 1, because it's very cheap. 2, because you need a drink anyway! Got three baskets for sharing. First flavour was honey garlic. Super sticky thick honey garlic sauce, making the crispy wings super saucey and sweet! YUM. Second flavour was curry. They actually got our order wrong and had to bring the curry sauce on the side. Which wasn't too bad, just needed to dunk the wings into the curry. It was an interesting combo. Imagine Malaysian curry with your deep fried wings. Didn't hate it but also didn't love it. Still good to try though. Third flavour was HK style. This is a classic and a must get! Crispy wings fried to perfection. Their menu changed lately. And any sauces for the wings are now an additional $1 (use to be free). But no complaints since it's still tasty and worth it for the price point. Come with friends to share your basket. So worth it and so tasty!!

Pros: + Quick efficient service. + Large variety of items. + Super cheap. + Food is decent and not too salty. I like that it's not as over seasoned as other places. Cons: - Quality isn't the best but honestly for the price I can't complain.

Despite being a ChaChaanTeng (HK style diner), its decor is nothing like those in HK at all. Instead it gives a fancy yet chill vibe. Service was alright on the day I visited. It's a ChaChaanTeng, so I don't expect much from them. I ordered curry garoupa with rice and HK style milk tea. Food was served really fast, like just within 5 minutes after I placed an order. It's pretty obvious that fish wasn't cooked to order, but it's hot when it's served. I'd say the portion was alright. Sadly the sauce was a turnoff for me. It's too salty but not spicy at all, and obviously not HK style curry. I was disappointed. On the other hand, HK style milk tea was quite impressive. Nice and smooth.

Cafe Hollywood - HK cafe exterior near Pacific Mall, adorned by Oscar statues to fit the theme

On the lookout for another decent HK cafe: Cafe Hollywood caught my eye, with a number of good nominations. Like a seasoned actor, it has been around since 1994. And like a keen moviegoer, I had such high hopes upon seeing Oscar statues adorning its gate. The cavernous cafe interior resembled a sports bar. Individual tables were well-spaced with safe dividers. We seated immediately, which was a nice change from waitlists for smaller cafes nearby. The simple menu had an assortment of all day breakfasts & combos. The wings appeared front & centre on the menu. We ordered a sampling of 3 items which was more than enough for our dinner. French Toast was served as a huge cube, with doughy bread inside. It was still fairly plain despite adding syrup + butter on top. On the other hand, Portuguese Style Baked Chicken with rice came smothered in a rich coconut curry sauce. The huge plate of rice was enough for two meals but mishap occurred with the chicken baked dry. The chipped plate had also seen better days. The accompanied milk tea was a typical steeped version. When intro dishes didn't wow us, I reminded my wife that the HK-style Wing Basket was next to arrive. We saw many such baskets out of the kitchen. It was anti-climatic when it was brought forth to our table; 20 chicken wings were crispy with egg batter yet also slightly dry. It was only a notch better than those at Asian groceries. I'd add pepper chili if I were to try it next time. Lightly seasoned fries under the wings definitely relied on the gravy. So is Cafe Hollywood deserving of our award? Friendly service & spacious environment but no dish for the highlight reel. It was a bit of a flop for us to be honest, and isn't going on our A-list of recommended options. Other upstart HK cafes surpass it in creativity & flavour.

This is my second visit, since Phoenix near me closed, I'm trying to find a new HK breakfast spot. This place is okay. Not exactly what I'm looking for, but, it's ooookay. Soup noodles comes in a plastic bowl, not porcelain. Strike 1. Meat in soup is iffy-soso. Strike 2. Lots of food for $10. Recouped a strike. Cheap normal menu for non soup noodle ppl. Recouped a strike. So, with that data, I'm giving it a solid 3 stars. Will I come again? Yes. Will I love it? No.

    Hainan chicken rice

Haven't been to Cafe Hollywood since it moved from the Market Village location, but since we were looking for a quick meal after a shopping trip at Pacific Mall, we decided to try it out. They have a drive thru for takeout orders, which is quite convenient. We ordered the Hainan chicken rice and seafood casserole on pasta, which comes with a drink (choice of hot coffee or tea). For an extra fee of $3.5 we got the matcha red bean bubble tea off their Presotea menu. Loved that this was an option! There were plenty of bubble tea flavours to choose from as well. The Hainan chicken rice tasted decent, but tasted more like a Cantonese style poached chicken. As for the seafood casserole, this tasted okay too, but I think the cream sauce was a tad too thick. Overall, I think the food was average, but this a good spot here to catch up with friends and watch sports at a Hong Kong style cafe.
