Nice Tex-mex spot. Close to the Omni if you want to walk over. Loved the chicken fajitas!

Solid tex-mex food. My wife and I enjoyed our meals (shrimp and nopales fajitas) but honestly, they were not the higher level restaurant we would normally associate with an Omni location. The server did mess up our drink order but that isn't uncommon. I'm particular about my bourbon and how I like it and I would say that at least half of the time it comes out incorrectly. read more

It was an ok dinner. Drinks were overpriced for the size you got. Red sauce was amazing and a must with the chips. read more

It's rare that I come in to downtown Dallas for any type of business...but, I had to attend this robotic competition that my son was taking part in at the Convention Center which is right across the restaurant. During the lunch hour I decided to eat Tex-Mex since it's rare for me to eat this style of food since I am married to a Mexican woman...I eat the best Mexican and Tex-Mex dishes at home. :) Well, I was totally taken by surprise and as a Vegetarian,...I opted for the Portobello Fajitas just to play it safe. Let me tell y'all, it was the BOMB!!! Wow!!! I've had veggie fajitas at other restaurants which are very basic and the flavors are at times just plain or blah and to make it up, you have to add lots of sour cream or salsa to give it taste. Man, these are far one of the best ones I've had...when I added sour cream on my taco I had created...it was not to add flavor...but to compliment it. I think I found a new place to get my portobello fajitas fix. They ROCK!!! In addition, the visit to this cool restaurant was complimented with many Tequila shots. That there made my visit near perfect! LOL!!! :) read more

Very bad Mexican food. The service is good but the food is not authentic . Ambiance is nice by the Omni hotel read more

Wouldn't recommend coming here. The service is very slow and the place is super understaffed. Food is alright.

My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary at the Omni and she loves Mexican food. We came over to Cafe Herrera and had a superb experience. Carlos helped us and I would highly recommend management there get him in queue for a promotion. He was polite, attentive, and responsive to anything that came up. Carlos-Thank you for making a meal memorable for my wife and I on our anniversary meal. We will come back for the food and your assistance. read more

The hotel deserves a four star for its location. It is conveniently located near the convention center. The food is not special. I have had better in San Antonio. Price was good for the food. Other than that it is just ordinary Mexican food read more

Food was good, but service was not. Our waiter was talking to other waitstaff instead of taking our order for a long time.

Had luncheon while attending a convention. The restaurant is actually part of the Omni Hotel in Dallas but accessible from the street. The menu selections were not numerous but appetizing. I had enchiladas with beans and rice. Very well seasoned. There are vegetarian options , appetizers, and bar drinks. Price was reasonable. Can be a wait to get in. read more

My friends, and I came with our daughters after a cheer competition. First of all, the male host was inappropriately staring at our young daughters with their cheer uniforms on. Whenever we were ready to order we asked if there was a children's A-Le-Carte taco option and they said "of course," we asked for one order with rice and one with out, and they gave us both rice so I ended up paying an extra 6 dollars for rice that I never asked for. Then, they charged us for every single topping, tomatoes, cheese, and lettuce. What kind of taco comes with just meat? The food was average, but extremely expensive, and the service subpar at best. I wouldn't recommend coming here, save your money. read more

Food was gross, service was terrible. Definitely expected more from an Omni restaurant. Would not go back or recommend.

I had the queso blanco and verdes enchiladas. The queso blanco lacked flavor, I was a bit disappointed. The food isn't true Mexican or even Tex-Mex. The prices weren't bad for the area. read more

I was walking down the street when I noticed a strip of different restaurants beside the Omni Hotel. I was in between the Sports Grill & this restaurant, but glad this was my choice. The ambience was welcoming & the service was quick. After a long day of travel, I was very satisfied with the food quality & how quickly it arrived to our table. read more

Service was great food was Tex Mex. I ordered the enchiladas meal. The Queso tasted like a store bought White Queso dip in a glass jar poured over cheddar cheese rolled in corn tortillas. The beef taco was ground beef that tasted like cumin flavored with a hint a sugar. The beans tasted like they were made with chorizo. I would say the beans, rice and chips with salsa were the best tasting. read more

This restaurant sits on the out parcel of Omni and bar is understaffed with bartenders who have no idea what order they serve in so people consistently walked up treated them poorly and they rewarded the behavior by serving them rather than others like me waiting patiently. When I did ask for help finally I was rudely told she was helping others - yes I know I've been here watching for 20 minutes Only two bartenders working. Crowd was huge. Shame on management read more

Still being new to Dallas, I ask people for food recommendations... when I realized it was in front of the Omni, I thought it was an odd rec because maybe it was a "tourist spot." I was able to find the first spot on the street with meters, so I cannot comment on the parking/valet because I may have gotten lucky. The restaurant was open and clean. We showed up right in the middle of the Mexico-Germany World Cup game, so it was busy but we were still able to get a table right away. Service (considering we were alllll focused on the game) was decent. I asked for the make your own Bloody Mary bar option and was served a normal, already made, Bloody Mary and did have to wait a tad to get the waiters attention so that I could get the correct order... but even with the mistake/time, I will say the make your own bloody mar bar was awesome!!! So many options from mixes, to hot sauces, pickled vegetables, two types of bacon (thick and normal), avocados, and even little cocktail shrimp! Food came out quick, hot, and correct. Not too "touristy," overall good food/service, and awesome make your own Bloody Mary bar! read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch meeting after a conference. Pescado Tulum - Halibut with sautéed veggies. Flavors we decent, but the fish itself was way overcooked. Rubbery in a way that you almost needed a knife to cut it. I won't oder this again. Another note, maybe it's the open kitchen coupled with a high exposure to sun from all the windows... this place heats up quickly inside, even during November.... I wouldn't recommend this spot, although it was my first and only time - I feel you have access to better options within walking distance. Just my opinion is all. Veggies were solid. read more

Hello from Downtown Dallas. Cafe Herrera is located in the downtown Omni Hotel complex. Arrived, seated, and had to wait several minutes for someone to wait on us. Finally got someone's attention who waited on us. So the food was good. The chips and salsa were excellent. Prices were not bad. I would say give it a try. I definitely would go back for the chips and salsa. Enjoy!! read more

Had some chips, enchiladas, and 2 Margaritas here with a couple of friends from Thunder from down under. Terra gave us some extra special attention, she does a great job at making the place cool and comfortable. Great place to have a business meeting read more

Came in and had the fajita lunch buffet. Not sure if it's a daily buffet or was a one time deal because of the convention I was at. Food was good, as most meals at Herrera's are. Asked for chips and salsa from the waitress. Never got them. She was rather rude the entire time. Besides the service, it was great. I can't say I will come back to this location just because it's not the closest to home. read more

I really enjoyed it here. I had the shrimp enchiladas. It had a spicy green sauce. The rice and beans were also very good. My wife had the chimichanga which came with shredded beef. It too was very good. Service was adequate but nothing to write home about. The restaurant is located between the convention center and the Omni hotel so it is a great location if you are downtown. My only real complaint is that the air conditioner blew directly on the tables and cooled the food down quickly. This is a place I would recommend. read more

This place was able to accommodate my large party of 20 on a Saturday evening. This place has one of the best chips and salsa in downtown Dallas. The chips were not greasy or over salted. The food was good. I would have given 5 stars, but I ordered the shrimp fajita platter & there were only 8 medium size shrimp on my hot plate. The staff was friendly & welcoming. The manager checked on our table to make sure we did not need anything, which I always appreciate. read more

We were in town for a large convention (80k people) and stayed at the Omni. Tried to eat here for dinner but they had a long wait and weren't allowing people to wait in their lobby. It was 20 degrees outside so we left. Went back for lunch the next day and they had a limited menu. The salad I ordered was ok, salsa was really good. Guac was just ok. Limited menu was kind of boring. They didn't have normal service, you had to order at the bar and they bring it to you, but I was pleasantly surprised, the service was pretty good. read more

Attention manager BRYAN!!!!! Please read this! The food was EXCELLENT! But service was a little off on this evening... but... then we met TOSHA! So we wanted to sit outside and the hostess told us there was only one server outside (weird but whatever) she said order from the bar and take it outside. Well we did. The bartender was so slammed however that we couldn't even get chips. So me sitting around waiting at the bar Tosha, not even a server mind you (she needs to be a server, you don't have someone on your staff this great and not have her serving people!) saw me looking lost and a little frustrated and took it on her self to help us out and get us chips, refills and also did everything she could to change this 2 star to a 5 star! She was AMAZING AND TRULY CARED when she didn't need to AT ALL! Also Brian the manager stopped us on the way out and apologized and informed us that is not how his restaurant is suppose to be run. He made it right by covering our meal and making it more than right. Good man good people, it's nice when people care to make it right. read more

Food is bland, no flavor at all. Very disappointing! The waitresses seem more interested in watching TV by the bar than working and the manager ( bald guy) seems to think it's ok to eat by the booths while standing in front of people. We lucked up and got a nice waiter so there is hope! read more

Cannot review this one, because we stood at the hostess stand for ten minutes and nobody came to seat us or even see us. Several servers saw us and just stood there without taking any action. We waved our hands to signal that there were several folks in line to be seated, so after 10 minutes we said goodbye to the cooks that were hard at work in the open kitchen. If this business does not want customers, they would be better of closing the doors. Good luck in the future. read more

I only read 1 review before my wife and I went here for lunch. And it was spot on! The wait staff took the time to get to know us by first names. As well as we did them. Kelli & Jaime we're the best! We ordered the Mariposa & Maximo Margaritas along with Pescado Tulum and Bistec A La Mexicana. Both very good meals. Having the best experience was enhanced by the owners Caroline & John came to meet us and wish us a happy Anniversary. They were so nice! We'll be back next time we're in town for sure! read more

Good food! Enough to split with friends. I am also impressed that, despite this being part of the Omni, the prices are really fair!

This place is absolutely Delicious! The ambience is so trendy and hip during the day and at night somewhat romantic. Great location! They have underground parking and as long as you eat or drink in the restaurant they will validate your parking ticket so you park for free. I have only been during my lunch hour so I cannot review their bar or cocktails. The food is amazing. I love their cheese enchiladas, tacos, and tostadas. Their chips and salsa is good as well. They serve an avocado/tomatillo dip along with your salsa and chips that is awesome! Definitely worth giving this place a try. It will have you going back. read more

Great location next to The Omni and Dallas Convention Center. I'm sure they lure in out of towners like fish from an aquarium. We arrived Friday night on Dallas' biggest college football weekend of the year. There were 110-120 customers seated, most waiting for service. They had 5 cooks working the line, no problem, but they had ONE waitress and ONE bartender. What a disaster, it took 35 minutes to get my bottled domestic. Like a pro, I went ahead and ordered my next drink. The menu read like this was something special, but the food tasted like chain Tex-Mex. My dining partner, who can handled heat, claimed the carne asado was too spicy to be enjoyable. My enchilada plate was meh. A few plusses: My margarita, the one made with Texas pepper syrup was incredibly flavorful and all the mixed drinks were quite strong. The chips were addicting and the queso was ok. read more

It's an okay place. Decided to try it just because we were in the area and it was a hot and new status place. Enchiladas were good, drinks okay. I think it's more of the location that makes this place stick out. Not too impressed with the food for the price but like I said, location. Our server Diego was outstanding and the atmosphere was good. Probably wouldn't be my top place to go back to if wanting Tex Mex but might give it a try and order something different. read more

Food is 4 stars, service is 3. We popped in here after visiting the Reunion Tower since we were sticking around the area and needed some lunch to power through the remainder of the day. From the outside, the doors can be a bit confusing but once you figure it out, you're greeted by a bunch of seating and a nice bar area. The menu ranges from tacos to enchiladas, to margaritas. My enchiladas were good and plentiful. My friend's shrimp tacos looked outstanding. Our waiter, however, had a difficult time figuring out what exactly we were ordering even though we were pointing at the menu. At the end of our meal we requested separate checks. While the amounts were correct, it took our waiter AND a manager 10 minutes to process my credit card. My card was no declined, the system appeared to be working fine (I could see them doing their thing), but it still took a great amount of time to swipe and authorize the card. Honestly if the service improved, this place would be way better. read more

Very nice spot in Dallas downtown. It's right by the convention center & Omni hotel. The place is clean, no wait time to get in, and the staff are nice & friendly. Food was good too. Terrible experience at Cafe Herrera the other day. Terrible service, terrible food, long wait for our food, dirty utensils served with my food, and the list goes on. My wife and I were staying at the Omni Downtown and since we had reservations for dinner at Black Ship next door, we thought that we would grab a margarita here before. It was a good choice because the bartender was both engaging and also solid at putting together two good drinks. I had a regular margarita and my wife opted for one of the flavored ones that was a special on the menu because it won an award at a recent competition. The chips and salsa were also excellent. If we had not had dinner reservations, we would have stayed to try the food. It was a nice experience though and we would return. read more
