Great specialty donut shop hidden in the suburb of Champlin. Seriously, they need to do more advertising as I've lived in the area for two years and didn't know they existed. Cookies and cream donut was so tasty. The fruity pebbles one seemed a little stale as far the crunch of the actual cereal, but I'd imagine it's a tough thing to keep fresh. They are all considered regular donuts which you can get a dozen for just $10! The fancy donuts were off to the side behind the register. The cashier was patient with us as we tried to decide which ones we wanted and very helpful in helping us pick. The have iced and hot coffee, a 12oz is just $1.29. Not sure what happened to this place. We haven't gone in some time, but spent $10 on a half dozen donuts for Mother's Day. As others have mentioned, they must have changed the recipes and ingredients. The oils taste old and the cream fillings are almost absent. I really like this place - better than Dunkin Donuts, in my option. It's a dollar a donut, or 12 for $10, so I think it only makes sense to get 12. The only thing that sucks about Cafe Donuts is sometimes they don't have the donuts I want (Chocolate Vanilla Cream) and depending on what time you go - I've gone around noon on a Saturday and around 3pm on another Saturday - they didn't have a good selection and they don't tell you if they're making any more. But most of the time, they usually have all or most of the selections out. Great location that easy to get to (but can be confusing for someone new). Close to 169, but not super visible. Wide variety of donuts. I've had some amazing fresh donuts, but I've also had some stale ones. Wide variety of flavoring going from maple frosted donuts, to double chocolate, strawberry frosting, blueberry cake donuts, and apple filled donuts. They also have a variety of ice cream that's not boring either. Being a chocolate lover, i LOVE me some Michigan pot hole. My boyfriend loved the raspberry cheesecake with cheesecake ice cream, not just chunks of cheesecake. We got often for ice cream and/or donuts. I love the cherry and blueberry donuts but the kiddos gotta have their chocolate sprinkles donuts I never had any bad experiences here, customer service was always nice! The place is clean. They have coffee and bagels here too and ice cream. They also do birthday cakes but i haven't tried it yet. I did get an ice cream cake and... it's just an ice cream cake. Closest chain to a dunkin' donuts if you like that style. It's half donuts half ice cream shop tucked in a small strip mall off a small road near my house. Stumbled upon it one day two years ago when my husband stopped by Fantastic Sam's for a haircut. Don't expect fancy gourmet donuts like some of the newer more hip shops but you get a good donut and variety for the price. Check in through Yelp! and get 10% off a dozen. Favorites are the French crullers and apple cinnamon filled donuts. 7.99 for a dozen is decent priced and the size and taste of the donut is pretty good. They cater and offer coffee drinks as well. We have tried the ice cream as well and my son loves the mint chocolate chip and cookies and cream flavors. Not gourmet or unique but good ice cream and kids really don't care for fancy things just good tasting flavors! read more

A very happy first time customer! Great service and donuts, was not disappointed at all. Got discounts for being a first time customer and free a donut hole glaze for my little girl. A very sweet kind lady help us decide and took our order. We felt bad that we didn't get the chance to ask or look at her name tag for reference. All we knew is she made us feel super welcome and a happy customer walking out the door. Nonetheless the donuts are out of this world good! I expected this to be more of a mom & pop donut shop. Instead I walked into a corporate chain layout with enough bright colors to make a Pokemon blush. LED TV's to display the menu? Seriously? The donuts were ok - reminiscent of Mr Donut or Dunkin Donuts. The staff were quick and friendly. They also serve ice cream here. KaleidoScoops is okay... This review is primarily for the KALEIDOSCOOPS ICE CREAM half of this business. This is my third attempt to find a good ice-creamy-type of place in the NW burbs. We already tried Cherry Berry and Cold Stone Creamery. In my humble opinion, this is the best of the three we've tried so far. It isn't worth a special trip, but I recommend it if you're driving by on Highway 169. It reminds me a lot of some of the shops in California that combine an ice cream shop with some other sort of food--like hoagies. The design is a little too corporate and slick for my taste. But the ice cream is good. As a side note, can any of the these places hire at least one mature adult to work with the public, especially during the busy season--like it is NOW?! I'm getting a little tired of being served by pimple faced kids, with no one else around, that seem super bored and that are pretty unprofessional. The second time I pre-ordered 2 dozen donuts 2 days before Fathers Day.I arrived as scheduled to the store in Maple Grove to pick up my order. Guess what? THEY didn't have my donuts, nor any donuts in the store. I was told I could travel to the Champlin store to get donuts, but they couldn't guarantee they had what I pre- ordered. If I could give ZERO stars I would. Bought a Groupon before the COVID quarantine. I had heard so many good things about Cafe Donuts, so thought what better way to give them a try. Unfortunately my Groupon expired during the quarantine and they were closed. When businesses started to reopen, I called TWO times to ask if Groupon would be honored. I NEVER received a manager call back. Went in person this morning and was told all they could do was give me 10% off. That would mean I would be paying TWICE. Fresh donuts. Every small town in America needs one of these shops to satisfy your guilty pleasures when you are trying to eat such a healthy diet all of the time. And this one combines two of those guilty pleasures into one - donuts and ice cream. The donuts are always fresh tasting and the staff is friendly. I have been waiting for one of these to open. I used to have to go to Anoka to get donuts (sorry Cub) but that shop was on the verge of closing for a long time and finally someone put the old smoke filled unpainted dingy place out of its misery. I took my grandson into get a donut with chocolate covered frosting and colored sprinkles on it. He ate the frosting and that was good enough for him. The rest of it was a waste of calories. Champlain location: The sign on the door reads 'OPEN EVERYDAY!' - this is a lie. When it was on Highway 65, it was indeed open EVERY day, including holidays, but apparently after they moved to Champlain, they decided to keep the tag line but be closed on holidays, or random Sundays, or pretty much every time we make it up to Champlain specifically to go there. There'll be a printed out sign on the door reading 'Closed' right above the sign painted on the door that says 'Open Everyday!' Either fix your sign or fix your hours, Cafe Donuts. Until you do, I'm done wasting gas money on you. I'd rather drive an hour and a half down to Rochester and hit Dunks because at least they're open when they say they are. read more

Best donut shop in town. It used to be a Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin Robbins, but when DD went out of business in Minnesota it became this place. Expect high quality pastry at Cafe Donuts. I've never had a cruller quite like here. The buttermilk and filled donuts are also fantastic. Not that dried out chain garbage with flavored goo in the middle. Donuts made with care instead of on an assembly line. Watch for specials after 2pm. The coffee is okay and I have not tried the ice creams. read more
