I am giving one star because I cannot give a 0. We visited this coffee shop at 6 30 pm where the closing was at 7 pm. We were deciding what to order when the guy at the store asked us if we were ordering coffee as they were shutting down the coffee machine. We ordered our coffee which was given to us in a take out cup without asking. We also ordered a pastry and insisted that we will be eating here. In few minutes the girl at the shop came and asked us if she can take the plate when we were still eating. This was 15 minutes before the shop closing. We have never seen such a rude behavior anywhere. Will not be visiting again. read more

Cafe Dolce was recommended to us by a friend. We will never go there again. We were there to buy a cake and have coffee - my wife, two adult children, and me. Paid about $50. After about 5-10 minutes, before my wife had finished her latte, the manager/owner came to our table and very loudly asked us if were were done and if he could get anything else for us. He took my empty cup and my daughter's and stood over us waiting for us to vacate the table and leave. The store was busy and he wanted our table for the next customers and was chasing us out. My wife quickly gulped down the rest of her latte and we got up to leave. People were staring. One woman came up to my daughter and commented on the fact that we had just received a public invitation to clear the table and get out. We were not loitering, nor loud, and were enjoying quiet conversation among ourselves while we sipped our coffee. The manager wanted to clear customers to make room for new customers. It was an ugly experience and he was a very rude man. If he did this to us, he does it to others and will do it to you. We will never go to Cafe Dolce again and advise all others to avoid the place or risk abusive behavior by the management if you dare to take a seat and not vacate it by the time your coffee cup has emptied. read more

I am sad to write this review. I thought this was the epitome of a 5 star establishment, but it is not so. I am a loyal customer; I have come 1-2 times a week for almost a year. I usually order a cappuccino and a pastry. Lately, the owner has been asking me if I am going to have lunch as well. I understood the passive-aggressiveness of this question because I do tend to stay for at least a few hours and they do get busy and the number of seats are limited, but I am a weekly customer and I don't believe it is proper customer service to do this. The last time I went I was asked the same question, but this time in the middle of my coffee and pastry the owner not only approached me, but another patron next to me and asked if we were going to order more food, and if not, to move from our table to the bar stool counter. Keep in mind, I was there not even 30 minutes at that point. This is a cafe, people come to cafe's to hang out or to do work and it made me uncomfortable to be treated like I was being intrusive. Slow service to get a to-go meal. Burrata salad had no seasoning, not enough basil, tomato slices were cut too thick, bread was stale and untoasted. The container it was put in leaked oil because the seal is cheap. I ordered a matcha drink and it had powdery bits all over that tasted super bitter. One of the best chocolate croissants I've ever had. I went in around 7:15am for a to-go coffee before work and couldn't resist the still warm from the oven pastry. It was filled with lots of yummy chocolate and my iced latte was delicious too. It wasn't very sweet, which was a nice change from an iced latte from somewhere like Starbucks that is usually loaded with sugary syrup. I'll definitely go back, especially for fresh, warm chocolate croissants. read more

One of the awesome croissants, recommended by Lauren, friendly cashier, was delicious. Flaky, coated with slivered almonds, and filled with a tasty almond paste; can't recommend it enough. I liked the coffee, very good. I had a latte. The place is nice looking, and an appealing place to hang out. The only thing that got to me was the noise. Of course, this is a problem in all coffee places that are running espresso machines, but I wish someone could figure it out, how to cut down on noise of those coffee machines. I graduated from the CIA in the mid 1970's and worked in French restaurants afterwards. Back then very few Americans knew what a croissant was. I witnessed the rise and fall (no pun intended) of the American croissant. At first they were fine, then as they became ubiquitous (Burger King breakfast sandwiches etc.), and produced in massive quantities, quality suffered. A real croissant should have about a 50/50 butter to flour ratio. Because of the high cost of butter, big commercial bakeries gradually reduced the amount of butter down to 10 or 15%. They also started substituting other less expensive fats for butter like margarine and other hydrogenated, cheap oils. Today, real croissants are difficult to find. I was thrilled when I walked into Dolce Café and saw the counters full of freshly baked (laminated dough-not easy to make) breakfast items. I had an almond croissant and it was stellar! The coffee was also first rate. The person @ the register was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. The seating area was very attractive and comfortable and parking spaces are abundant. I have never left a review for any establishment on Yelp but I needed to go out of my way to do it for these lovely folks who went out of their way for me today. I go in here as often as I can because I love the place. The treats are delectable (breakfast crepes, pastries, all of it just delicious). I'm no connoisseur but even I know the coffee is fantastic. The service is also great, as is the ambiance and I am thrilled to see all the rave reviews and, more importantly, the people stopping in each day. We need to keep local places like these alive. I've been in foodservice and I get it...true labor of love. You don't do it to make a quick million. You do it because you like to serve people good food. Anyway, all of that deserves 5 stars but today when I ordered coffee and a croissant and then discovered that my debit card was lost, I was not a happy camper. I canceled my order and left, my mind on my own personal affairs. As I rummaged in my car hoping I had dropped my card in there, one of the owners (I think) came out, chatted with me briefly and had me go back in and get the items I had ordered.
