Came here after a birthday event in the City and we had a group of 7. Name was "called" or so they say bcus we never heard them call out the name we put down, so they moved on to the next big party. We then had to put our name down AGAIN and wait about an hour for a table. Food - no complaints here. Food always hits! Just sad they didn't tell us that they were out of sisig and mango juice until we were almost done eating. The one negative thing was Nilagang took FOREVER to get to the table. I had to remind a server about it. Server - not attentive, could have been better. As we were paying the bill, I put down "CASH" on the tip line on the receipt bcus we were gonna give a cash tip. The server came and rudely was like "gratuity is not included" and points at the section of the receipt that shows you how much 15% - 20% tip is and the total it'd be. I was annoyed and honestly didn't wanna tip her anymore after that comment. I told her "IF YOU CAN SEE THERE *POINTS AT TIP LINE* I WAS GOING TO GIVE YOU CASH". About 1/2 block from the Olivet chapel, on Hillside Blvd. part of the cypress lawn cemetery . ( 2 miles from the cypress lawn mortuary main office on El Camino Rd. ( closed one to two hours each day to clean the kitchen ) I would call and ask their cleaning schedule , cleaning hours varies depending on how busy the cafe is that day . We came in after 8:30 pm party of 18 ( we didn't make reservations) after my mother in law's viewing service at Olivet chapel . We add our name to the waiting list , they seated us 35 minutes after and they were able to sit us in the same vicinity. Our waiter Alma was amazing , she was friendly and attentive , she filled our water , drinks often and she noticed the kids table needed more napkins , Alma checked on them more frequently. Our food were cooked quickly . Menus had lots to choose from . Your choice of American food , pasta , steaks , salads , sandwiches or American breakfast served all day and many other dishes to choose from . Filipino food has quite a selections as well , Longsilog , tosilog, pork adobo and other variety of familiar Filipino dishes on the menu . Totally packed at 10PM on a Sunday night, the 24-hour place offers diner standards, Chinese food, and Filipino fare inside the Lucky Chance casino. We ordered kare kare (my first time having it with the shrimp paste - so good), wonton soup (next time, I'll get it without lettuce and noodles), and a Philly cheesesteak with onion rings (I had a craving). Standouts here are the Filipino dishes, and I felt quite envious as my eyes wandered over other tables' orders. Looks like crispy pata and silogs are the move here. First time coming to Cafe Colma located in the Lucky Chances Casino. The parking is a bit tight in the back. The cafe serves Filipino and Chinese food, and I was wondering how the food can be decent. They have both Filipino and Chinese chefs working. They serve Filipino, Chinese, and American food. Although not the best presentation of their dishes, it is understandable that it is a cafe and the food was better than average. The wonton noodle soup had nice size wontons and the right amount of noodles which was not soggy. My daughter liked the chicken adobo, and I enjoyed the tosilog with the garlic fried rice and sunny side up eggs. The customer service, by Karen, was excellent. I think it would've been that much better if they added more spice to the vinegar dipping sauce. For the appetizer we went with the fried calamari . I was actually surprised at how good it was . It tasted super fresh and it was cooked perfectly with just enough batter coating the squid. I also liked the jalapeños that went nicely with each bite. It gave it a little saltiness. Lechon kawali was my favorite !! It was fried to perfection with a perfectly crunchy skin . Loved deep fried pork belly. A must when you come here paired with the Mang Tomas sauce on the side. Pork bbq was very flavorful. It had a nice marinate and loved the grilled flavor. It was actually a good portion as well . Can't go wrong with this. For dessert we opted for the ube ice cream. It was the perfect way to end our late night cravings. One scoop was actually a hefty size and be shared among two people if you're not big on sweets. After being seated, our friendly and efficient server took our drink order and continued to set our table with water, menus, and utensils. Coffees served, our food order was in next. As our server made her way to the kitchen, I heard her (in Tagalog) ask the cooks if there was any eggplant. Thankfully there was because I was really looking forward to having my usual - the tortang talong (grilled eggplant omelet) - with a side of garlic fried rice. I'm not a vegetarian but this dish is savory and satisfying without any meat. Served with some banana ketchup, and I'm good to go! Kare Kare was the last dish my mom made us before she got really sick and passed away in 2020. It's my favorite dish. She had promised to show me how to make it when she got better. It took me almost a year to master her recipe on my own, and until today to finally find a restaurant that makes Kare Kare that tastes just like Mom's. It hits differently when someone makes a dish you love for you opposed to making it yourself. I had heard about a restaurant inside of the Lucky Chances Casino that had the best Kare Kare, and after almost 4 years of searching for the perfect Kare Kare, I think I finally found it at Cafe Colma. I'm a little upset that we didn't realize it sooner that Lucky Chances is located just a block from Olivet, where my in-laws niche is. We could have been eating this delicious Kare Kare a lot sooner had we known. Cafe Colma also boost a variety of chinese food, diner staples and of course, filipino favorites. Okay, made it back and still 4 stars for the food but service was slacking this visit. We ordered our usual: kaldareta, kare kare, and salt and pepper fish. We also ordered a bowl of arroz caldo. The bowl is huge and perfect for like 4-5 people depending on what else you're eating. However, our arroz caldo didn't come. We had to remind the waitress again. It came pretty quickly after we reminded her but damn this caldo was thiccccccc. They usually use chicken thigh but for some reason they used chicken breast, so that was dry. In addition, they didn't add patis and lemon wedges on the side like they normally would. We've ordered this before so we're aware of how it's served. We saw another table order the arroz caldo and it was served properly with all the fixins, so not sure what happened with ours. The flavor was just okay, could be more chicken-y. I like mine with a lot of black pepper but didn't want to bother to ask as we didn't have any on our table. If you need extra condiments, they'll give you packets (Tabasco, sriracha, soy sauce, ketchup). In addition, we ordered a bowl of sinigang broth and that took forever to come. We actually couldn't get anyone's attention for several minutes so finally one of us eventually got up to hunt a waitress down. It took a few min for the broth to come but when it did, dang that thing was hot. TBH their broth is hellaaa oily. It's decent in flavor, lightly sour, but way too oily. The busser actually cleared our table BEFORE we could even get a check lol a little backwards yea? And then we got the check, we had the CC ready and no one came to get it... so we also had to run that up to the cashier. All in all, we just had really bad service. They automatically include gratuity for parties 5+ and its 18% FYI. So maybe that's why they didn't care to earn their tip, they knew they were gonna get it anyways. Such a bummer. Will I come back? I asked for medium rare and lo-and-behold, actually got what I asked for. The meat was cooked perfectly, decently-sized, and it was juicy and tender. The veggies on the side were nothing to write home about, but hey, you can't have everything in life. Definitely worth it. The food here is pretty hit or miss. Sometimes it can be extremely good and sometimes it tastes completely different and will be made different. Come here with friends all the time but the service is really bad. Manager ladies are very rude and don't have any respect for customers. Servers won't write your order down at all and then will come back 3 times to ask again. Once in a while after coming here I'll proceed to throw up or sh*t my living brains out and me and my friend have both thrown up in the bathroom there from the food. Perfect for Filipino food any time of the day. I'm sure we all spent a lot of our early 20s here late at night. Me and some friends were really craving arroz Caldo on a cold Sunday evening and this was one of the only places left open. They also have silog plates and I heard their kare kare (ox tail peanut butter curry) and Filipino spaghetti are really good. We got a tocilog (tocino/sweet pork), garlic fried rice, with a sunny side egg-- pairs really good with vinegar. Chicken arroz Caldo (chicken and ginger porridge), and sisig bangus (grilled milkfish with onions, peppers, sometimes egg). All really good and we were stuffed! Special shout-out to our server Ate Dia!! The staff are really friendly and quick, we didn't have to wait to be seated. As for parking, there's not much parking in front of the casino but there is an underground parking garage that has plenty of parking.
