they were out of the only two food items my friend and i wanted to order and the cafe au lait is alright. they were also out of sweet milk for the sweet mocha frap so we got a mocha frap instead which was pretty good. but overall not the best experience read more

I'm not a fan of Venice Beach, but this place served one of the best coffee beverages I've ever had. The place was cute enough and the service was good. There weren't many people in there when we went in. I almost want to take off a star because they don't have a bathroom, but the Genoa, a chocolate raspberry delight of a drink straight up rocked my world and scrambled my brain to where I just can't give less than 5. High prices and average service. I ordered a toast on gluten free bread and they charged us $2.75 extra for two pieces of gluten free bread which didn't even come toasted. The staff could care less and it took forever to get our food. This place is busy because of their location. read more

The best thing about this place is the location. It can't get much better. Today a pigeon flew in the store and landed right near a good looking chick. Another pregnant women grabbed the bird and released it into the air while chanting....The food is pretty good. Fun spot. I am looking forward to going back. read more

Old stomping ground from way back in the day. I am really glad to see that they are still in business, although the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf that just opened kitty-corner from this Venice cafe is causing me to stress hard-core. There was nothing "wrong" with this place, per se, but it certainly wasn't as great as I was expecting it to be. It's got a cute feel and a great location. I had a smoothie that was alright, but it wasn't great. There weren't very many options for smoothies either and the tables were dirty. Service was fine, but again...not great. i don't think the girls behind the counters smiled once while they helped us. There was a line out the door when I was leaving though, so maybe their coffee is better than their smoothies! read more

THE WORST IN VENICE!!And here's why...First,the food is average..nothing exciting..nothing different...the prices are,well nearly $3.00 for a day-old bagel...no bathrooms available after a $60.00 bland meal?What a laugh...But the worst is about to come..The owner,named Steven Han,has taken the outside tables away..When asked why,he responded 'To get rid of the homeless'..this in Venice near the boardwalk,not on Montana in Brentwood!!He has denied service to paying brothers because they appeared homeless..When asked why,he responded with 'I do it because I can!'...I see...Well,I'll write this review because I can!THE WORST IN VENICE..The vibration in the blah food will make you feel sick!!Don't go,esp with all the choices surrounding Han's den of mean. read more

Homeless outside and vagrants inside make me avoid this place that charges $2.60 for a bagel with cream cheese. I live 2 blocks away, but avoid this joint. Go the extra mile to The Cow's End on Washington where there's a delightful crowd. Fantastic friendly owner and baristas with $1.50 bagels with cream cheese and a wide array of delicious sandwiches and breakfast treats. read more

I come here on my lunch break once a week and it's great. The prices are pretty cheap based on location and the food serving sizes are big. Definitely recommended the Greek salad or tuna sandwich! Food comes out quick and staff is friendly! read more

I've seen some reviews on here that frankly mystify me. So here's the point, short and sweet: I eat here every day. And have for almost two years. I know everyone by name and they know me, and I can tell you flat out that they make some of the best food in Venice. Other places around the area are fine, but this is the only place that offers consistent quality and excellent customer service. Eat here. Period. It's awesome. Faves: Ray's Breakfast Burrito, the bahn mi, and the green tea latte (or frappe - either/or). Badass. read more

Had a meeting in Venice and grabbed a little b-fast before it started at Cafe Collage. I ordered the Granola and Banana, which is way out of left field for me but it was really good and definitely hit the spot. The atmosphere is chill, good energy; people on laptops, people reading, visiting, etc. It's located in a cool area of Venice too --- great for people watching. What's up with people saying there's no WiFi? The cashier gave me the code (cafecollage) and I was surfing in no time flat. Perhaps something has changed or others weren't cool enough to get the code or maybe the cashier had a crush on me, haha. We'll never know for sure. read more

Of all the years I have spent in Venice I never chose to visit Cafe Collage. I have only had their iced coffee and I am hooked. For some reason there is something about it that tastes oh soo good. Its not your top notch $5 cup of coffee but its pretty great for $2.75! I have had a lot of coffee and this place satisfies my taste buds. Aftertaste is much better than that from Abbots Habit. I come here everyday I go to work. read more

This place is fantastic. I stayed for a while to get some studying done. The Spanish latte (espresso and condensed milk) was sweet but not too overwhelming. The soy chai latte was perfect. Because it's downtown SM, I was worried I'd end up paying $7 for a cup of coffee. That's not the case here, as everything was equal to or cheaper than Starbucks prices. I didn't get any of the pastries (it took all of my willpower), but just about every other customer did. Most importantly, the customer service is great, even with the high flow of customers. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

November 6,2016 Sunday morning me and my husband looking for a place to drink some coffee and I need some hot tea lol came to cafe collage because the other coffee shop was closed boo! But I'm glad they were or we would have never came to this place. It's GREAT!!! I order a English Breakfast latte delicious hit the spot! My husband ordered the Spanish latte ! Let me just tell you he LOVED!!!! It said it was great coffee. We also ordered bagels I it Nutella and banana bagel yum! Husband got a cream cheese bagel both were so good nice and crunchy not to soft or not to hard. Just perfect ! We will be back! We don't live in Venice but we will try to be regulars lol read more

The atmosphere is just as great as the coffee. There are games to play, cozy corners to hang out in, and little hidden gems throughout the shop if you're paying attention. It's the kind of place where you can grab a drink and end up staying way longer than you planned. A true Venice classic and still one of the best coffee spots I've ever been to. Staff is amazing and just feels just a community, they make the experience feel incredible for just getting a coffee

The staff are dressed in matching white t-shirts and pants, and the shirts say "All-Day Cafe." However, we walked in a little after 3:00 PM and found out we couldn't order smoothies (which end at 3:00) or breakfast items (which end much earlier at 11:00). For an "all-day cafe," that felt like a bit of a misrepresentation. Since it was very, very hot outside, I was disappointed that they were serving lukewarm water. Unfortunately, there was no vegan pizza on the menu, but our first waiter was very, very nice and friendly, and he had the kitchen accommodate us by omitting the cheese, substituting olive oil for chili oil, and adding spinach. The pizza turned out to be very thin, but yummy, and my party also enjoyed the ceviche. I had an iced coconut coffee that was absolutely delicious. After our first waiter ended his shift, our second waiter, Mike H., took over the table and never checked on us not even one single time after someone dropped off the food. When a small issue came up with one of the plates, he was just so nonchalant and dismissive, and Mike didn't add to the ambiance of the place at all. Fortunately, I believe it was a manager who then stepped in with a smile and addressed the issue, which was really nice. Aside from that unfortunate service experience, the food and drinks were tasty, but the misleading menu hours, lukewarm water on a hot day, and inattentive waiter definitely left room for improvement.

The more expensive the sandwich, the more irritated I get when it instantly turns into soup upon holding it for a bite. I like Gjelina for other items on the menu. Service is good. Location is nice for Venice. But I'll never order a sandwich here again until they toast the bread or use thicker slices to maintain sandwich firmness.

Having grown up around venice, I have tried several little cafes and restaurants all around, and this is one of my favorite places to grab a bite before I go the beach. Its funky and fun to sit inside or out- some good people watching. My favorite is the tuna sandwhich that comes with the mango chutney. MYYY GOOOODNESS, it is so delisious, such a good combination! Folks here at Cafe Collage are genuinely rad. The customer service is on point, and the service is fast. They have daily breakfast specials, and the price point is definitely for everyone. It is the only joint in Venice Beach that is still run by a family. They are pro-locals and pro-customers. Support this business rather than those big, commercialized cafes. Oh! I wish I could give this place 0 stars! I ordered an omelette sandwich and I watched their cook make it in the microwave. Then I watched as he made other people's food in the microwave. I don't think they have a stove. The bagel I ordered my omelette on was hard, ROCK HARD. My boyfriend ordered a croissant and it was the most stale pastry we've ever had. Whatever you do, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT order their acai bowls. They may look appealing because of the fruit they put on top, but the acai sorbet itself is hard. I couldn't even scoop it and they only give you a very thin layer. Go down the street to the little trailer Neighborhood Bru for your acai bowls!!! So salt, so seasoning on it whatsoever. The other ingredients were the same. The olives were clearly just some basic sliced olives from a cheap can. Not the kind required for a salad. The grape tomatoes and side of dressing were the only elements that I enjoyed. It domes with some butterless toasted bread (like - toasted til it's tears came out dry and crunchy) and a side of decent hummus. The hummus was good, but I didn't want to eat it with the dry bread. Lucky for me I wasn't really hungry. My take is this is a great option if you stick to what the cashier says they do well. I vouch 100% for the açaí bowi! Also side note, it's not eco friendly and you won't get insta worthy pics of the food. It's all served in to-go containers.
