Iced Pirates' Chai (matcha based chai)
Drew J.

Stumbled across this really cool coffee shop in Venice, not far from the Canals. The place was super inviting, and the outdoor shaded patio is such a vibe -- loved the furniture and all the plants. I'm a big matcha and chai lover, so I tried the "Pirates Chai," and it was SO GOOD. I raved about this place to my friends, so we ended up stopping back by later. I ordered the breakfast burrito, and it did not disappoint! It was super filling and could totally be shared. I agree with the other person that said having some music in the background would be a nice added touch, but otherwise really awesome spot!

We hosted my husband's 40th at Alana's and couldn't have asked for a better experience! Chef Brandon and his team curated an incredible menu. Out guests are still raving about the food. The space is already so beautiful and needed minimal décor, and the team was wonderfully flexible in letting us add a few personal touches. It's a coffee shop by day and an amazing venue for hosting events after hours. Warm, welcoming, and effortlessly stylish. Highly recommend Alana's to anyone looking for a unique spot to celebrate something special!

Really cool inside and out all the drinks were yummy a little on the pricey side, but the area calls for it super friendly staff

This place is all about the vibe and location. Spacious patio...I occasionally spend an hour here working and get a straight-on view of the ocean. The coffee on the hand is not my cup of tea...it's not bad, but not to my taste either. The croissants are delicious and have enough consistency so as not to flake everywhere after a bite. However, all this comes at a premium price. $5 for a cappuccino and $6.5 for a Nutella croissant.

I always go to the Mar Vista location, but on a rainy day it was too packed to sit and get some work done, so I checked out this spot.

This place is for people who KNOW coffee. I brought my cousin here to try the coffee out! She looks…read morefor places that serve single origin. She got into a great conversation with the barista. The barista definitely knows his stuff. They were comparing different coffee shops and discussing the different notes in their beans. My cousin takes her coffee seriously and she was really impressed! I myself went with a flat white. You can definitely tell that their coffee quality is top notch. What I really do appreciate is the fact that their baristas is so knowledgable and really does have a passion for coffee. My cousin said it's not very common to find in coffee shops. She gave me a whole ted talk on why the coffee here is really good. Definitely come here if you want some good quality coffee and a barista who is happy to chat about it!

I'd really wanna give this spot a 3 start but don't wanna bring this place down. I haven written a…read morereview in a while but after coming here I needed to share my frustration with the shop. The place is so beautiful and it's such a vibe to just be there. I am amazed at how much detail went to the shop. The couches are nice and the staff is friendly. My problem is with the coffee. I was left wanting a different flavor than I expected. For context it was a Sunday morning so it might've been busy. But I ordered a flat white and it tasted like filtered water with a dash of coffee. There was absolutely no flavor and could barely taste the coffee. Maybe I don't know coffee well but I've been to tons of coffee shops in the west side and this is for sure one of the ones I was disappointed by. I'm willing to give the place a second chance but not sure.

My fiancée and I were taking a drive around the neighborhood on a Saturday morning and saw a line…read moreout the door of PPC so we knew we had to try it out. The line goes quick! And Ryan at the register was knowledgeable and helpful, welcoming us to the shop with a warm smile. We went with the vanilla latte (silky smooth, 20/10) at his recommendation, and the mint mocha (hint of fresh mint flavor and deep mocha, 20/10) - both iced with almond milk. For pastries, I had the everything croissant with cream cheese (20/10) and she had the triple blueberry muffin (15/10). For full transparency, and a reflection of their dedication to customers, we had a slight hiccup with our order - in the busy morning rush, our coffee orders were accidentally forgotten. After a few minutes, I asked the baristas about this and Ryan was quick to rectify the situation, even offering a complimentary gift card for our next visit. As you can see, the friendly service, phenomenal drinks and pastries make this an easy recommendation! We will definitely be returning customers! Shout out to the team today for a great first visit!

One Star - Great coffee, but the attitude ruins it…read more I've been a regular at this coffee shop for a while because the coffee and pastries are genuinely good. Unfortunately, that's no longer enough to keep me coming back. Every single male employee I've encountered here is unfriendly, arrogant, and borderline rude. It feels like they know the place is popular, so they've decided they don't need to treat customers with basic courtesy or warmth. The "too cool for you" vibe is strong and consistent. Today was the last time I'll ever spend my money here. Life is too short to pay premium prices just to be treated with disdain. The quality of the drinks and food is solid, but it's simply not worth enduring the nasty attitude. There are plenty of other fantastic coffee shops in the area that offer both great products and pleasant service -- places like Grand Luxe and Lala Land come to mind. I won't be back.
