A friend and I were on our way to another popular brunch spot on N7, but we came across Cafe Colette and were instantly drawn in by the positive ambiance emanating from the happy people enjoying their meal outdoors. We decided to negate our plans and eat at Colette instead. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and everybody and their mother was getting their brunch on. Although the place was busy, but we didn't have to wait one minute to be served. It's one of those places that although it very busy with a lot of chatter, you don't have to yell or strain to hear someone sitting across the table from you. I enjoyed a delicious mimosa with the fish tacos. I was happy to find something gluten free on the menu, because most places I've noticed don't offer any gluten free options. It was my first time trying mahi-mahi, and I am a now a huge fan. I like the fact that although it was busy, we weren't rushed out as soon as the last crumb left out mouths. After my friend and I finished our meal, we decided to sit on the benches out side of the restaurant to plan our next destination. As we watched the passersby, we saw Jodie Foster and her wife walk by us into the cafe. An awesome brunch followed by celebrity sighting. On our way home from the city we wanted to stop by a cute, trendy, Williamsburg restaurant and we found Cafe Colette. Menu looked good and the restaurant itself was very cute. We order the burger, fish tacos and soup & grilled cheese sandwich. We asked for scones, but they were sold out :0( We waited awhile for our food but it wasn't a big deal bc we were with good company and in a good environment. Starving, we were excited for the food. Let's start with my plate: the grilled fish tacos 3 soft tacos with red cabbage, onions, a spicy mayonnaise, cilantro, and grilled fished. I listed the fish last BC there was barely any fish in the tacos. A mountain of cabbage and onions. Although there was barely any fish I STILL enjoyed them. They were really good and filling so I was ok with them. The second order was the burger: no complaints there. The third order: tomato soup and grilled cheese on sourdough bread. This is a tough one bc there was nothing good other then the toasted sourdough bread. The grilled cheese was made of some cheese and mustard. I say some cheese bc it wasn't listed in the menu what kind of cheese it was, which I think would've been very helpful. The tomato soup was nice and thick but had a sweet taste to it. Didn't really have "tomato" like taste to it but was sweet and slightly oily (layer of oil on top). Needless to say, not happy with that. No description but yet everything else on the menu had details. BUT I must say that when we told our waitress she was very nice about it asked if we would like something that else. We said no and she took it off the menu. Needless to say we weren't 100% satisfied, but would def go back and try other things on the menu! Thank you for being dog-friendly, allergy-friendly and smiley friendly! So nice to find a place in Nov to sit outside with my pup for dinner! And wonderful to not feel bad asking to make sure the menu item of choice was okay for me to eat. I've been here for brunch and dinner and the food is creative and delicious, the service wonderful, and the ambiance cozy and chic.

This new Cafe is doing it right. Great food, friendly and good service, and a charming space. I have eaten lunch here about 6 times and dinner once so here's what to get! For lunch, I have had the seared tuna with sesame noodles- amazing, tasty, light, has some light greens with it- love it. I had a kale caesar salad, healthy, hearty, delicious. I added chicken, this was no problem. For dinner I had ceviche- nice, firm, yummy although it could use some cilantro or pepper, and a steak sandwich which was one of the best steak sandwiches I ever had. Oh and a great cocktail with rosemary in it. AND they have awesome coffee, I believe it's Stumptown. And again, everyone is friendly, greets you, seems like a large staff for a smaller place, very accommodating. Bravo, one of the best places to eat in Williamsburg! read more

Went there on a saturday for brunch. The place was clean and so cute. Ordered the hamburger per the bartenders recommendation. It was pretty juicy however I couldn't finish the last half because of the overload of salt in the meat. The scone was good but not insanely delishious. The service was ok. read more

Get their french fries. Or anything they make with potatoes. The burger is astonishingly good, too. Portions are huge--we took food home and the french fries still tasted good, cold. I have never had french fries that tasted good cold ever before in my life! My companion had the fried chicken on salad greens. To die for. Fantastic. And dogs allowed on the terrace. You have to wait on weekends, because the food is great. Pass on the Stumptown coffee. Je regrette, Colette, but it was bitter. The admonition pre-printed on the bill to tip 20% is a little annoying--do they really get that many overseas tourists? We stumbled upon this place after visiting the Brooklyn Brewery. The ambience was as perfect as the delicious food. All of us had a cheeseburger and fries, without a single crumb left on any of our plates. Definitely worth a stop. read more

This place used to be great. Not sure what happened in the last year...perhaps change of chef/management? I would often frequent Collette when I first moved to Williamsburg a few years ago -- it was my go-to! After one bad experience that I chalked up to a fluke last year, I came by another three or four times and sadly I don't think I'll be coming back for more punishment. They screwed up my grilled cheese, twice. C'mon, how ya'll gonna botch a grilled cheese? A few other incidents I won't mention as well... I'll be rooting for these guys to make a comeback. For now, they got "Gordon Ramsay please come and rescue us" written all over 'em. read more

The food was varied and delicious. The service was not very attentive, although the guy tending bar was. The octupus was delicious, and the roasted beet ravioli was different and quite tasty. Dessert! We shared two. A chocolate tart which had a chocolate cookie crust with sea salt. The sea salt made it. The other was panne cotta with a fresh ginger honey. WOW!!! Didn't knock me out of the park. Bartender and staff are cool, but maybe a little too cool for my blood. Food was decent, but the menu is pretty limited and a little too much money for what it is: a cute cafe in brooklyn where you get to eat with lots of hipsters. Sarah, Anya and I had Sunday Brunch today at Cafe Colette. Was looking for a quick bite someplace before heading back into Manhattan. Anya's friend India recommended this place and I owe her a big thanks for it. What I liked about it first was the rustic, neighborhood old soda shop/ luncheonette feel to it. But that's where that ends. Instead if greasy burgers, eggs and hash being slung by a short order cook named Mel for older, middle American patrons, you have delicious and creatively constructed food being consumed by some very cool hipsters. Both Sarah and I had the fried egg sandwich, which totally took each of us by surprise. Do not expect your normally diner fried egg sandwich boys and girls; it's as different as a Quarter Pounder with Cheese from McDonalds can be from a delectable Shack Shack Burger. Anya had the French toast and a side of sausage patty, both of which were very good, or so I was told. A couple next to me had ordered Bloody Mary's which looked great and they seemed to enjoy greatly. Other patrons seemed to be enjoying their meals also, so thats always a good sign. Ohhh... My coffee Americano was just right and was able to drink it black, which I only do when coffee is that good. My only negative was what we felt was slow service in getting our meals. It is a truly pleasant atmosphere, so you wouldn't mind normally. But none of us had breakfast, so we were hungry, so it seemed like a long time. Otherwise, I think this place is great. A nice place to go if you want to avoid the crowd. Very laid back with solid things to eat.

I enjoy dining al fresco and Cafe Colette has very cute outdoor seating. There are highs and lows, the low being an oddly soggy, dare I say wet, baked french toast and the high being the most delicious plate of fries you have ever laid eyes on. The fries are piled gloriously high, crispy and browned to perfection, with fried rosemary and sage nestled in the pile of potato heaven. Cafe Colette, I forgive you for the french toast. read more

We felt gouged by the meal we ate here last night. The "local burrata with heirloom tomatoes" cost $16 and came as a plate of hard, unripe, flavorless tomatoes with one miniscule portion of burrata. The $19 house-made cavatelli pasta was tough and rubbery. On the plus side, the upscale 50's diner atmosphere is nicely done, and several of the wait staff were very nice. I live in the neighborhood and have had both dinner and brunch at Cafe Colette. I recently threw a surprise dinner party for my boyfriend here and the service was fantastic! If you're having a party, I suggest you book early and ask for the back/indoor garden space. The ambiance is lovely - beautiful decor and natural light in the day; soft lights and gorgeous scented candles in the evening. The cocktails and food are beautiful tasting. This place is aesthetically pleasing and super chill. It's overrated though. The menu is limited and frankly not that well executed. It's disappointing that they barely have healthy or vegetarian options being they're in Williamsburg. My mother ordered chicken once it came out raw. I've had strange dishes there I don't think the chef pairs items well. Overpriced for tiny portions also. Service not the best but they're friendly. I go here if I don't want so much or a good meal but a place to relax and read a book with some tea. read more

This place has bentwood barstools, shitty-ish service and good brunch in a room that looks like a greenhouse kinda. It's also nice at night!

3 to 3.5 stars overall. Ambiance - 4 stars. Reminds me of a high-end diner. Not very romantic but very eclectic. Tables are close together like manhattan. Food - just average. Nothing unique or delicious but staple food that is cooked well. Cavatelli - essentially melted ricotta with pasta. Tastes exactly as it sounds. Mussels - appetizer used as entree. Lots of jalapeño. Smashed fingerlings - roasted potatoes that have been slightly smushed but certainly not like mashed potatoes. Think like a small poke from a fork. $78 total bill for pasta, mussels, side, soda, cocktail. Definitely solid but not somewhere for a special meal. read more

Heard about this place on the news as they were raving about the grilled octopus and what do you know it was AMAZING!!..hubby and I decided to just do appetizers (octopus , kale salad and flat bread ) a bottle of wine and their AMAZING dessert Apple, Pear-Bread Pudding (guilty pleasure to the max). I've been here twice in the past week if that tells you anything. First for dinner. Kale salad and steak sandwich. Perfection. Second for Sunday brunch. Perfection again. The service has been consistently great - everyone is nice and pretty good looking. The food always comes out sooner than later and timed well. Drinks are also delicious. I live about 2 blocks from this place and have been 3 times or so, always for brunch. Great coffee, great hamburger (made rare which is tough to get sometimes) and good fresh vegetable omelettes. Probably on the pricey side but pretty standard prices for Williamsburg. The interior of the place has a bright french diner feel and is a nice break from the dark wood exposed brick of most places in this neighborhood. Good looking crowd too.
