Outstanding! My mother is visiting in town and we tried out Cafe Coda for the first time. All I can say is that the food is delicious, the service warm an friendly, and the atmosphere was comfortable and casual. We split the Coda Benedict and an order of apple oatmeal pancakes. We both agreed that they are the best Eggs Benedict we've ever had. The herb potatoes it comes with are delicious too. My absolute favorite breakfast spot in Chico! I have never left here disappointed, and the only complaint I really have is there is almost always a wait. From the coffee to the ambiance this place is amazing. I have only had their lunch once, a chicken and Brie sandwich with soup which were both delicious. The chiliquiles, Lemon Poppyseed pancakes, and Eggs Florentine are my favorites, along with their grapefruit mimosa. Yummy food! The service was alright. Also, there was a sign that said seat yourself. But they insisted on seating us anyway. Slightly awkward as we were choosing a table and they directed us elsewhere. I had the banana nut bread pancakes with cinnamon butter. I've never seen pancakes come without a side though. Service is good, very friendly. I always get the Fat Boy and am never disappointed, I look forward to weekend brunches when I can go to Coda. The only thing that could be improved is the wait time, there is always at least a 30 minute wait on the weekends and some of the rooms are blocked off which doesn't make sense. This is one of my favorite places. It's a great place to meet with my friends. I also enjoying stopping by on my own for a quiet cup of coffee and a bite to eat. The people who create the meals and serve the food are genuine and kind. Oh and I almost forgot the music! Cafe Coda often has live music. AMAZING. Amazing. Sorry, did you miss that? Amazing. I went here for brunch over the weekend with some friends, and Café Coda was everything I wanted and more. I was torn between a benedict (which they are known for) and the chilaquiles, and our waiter, James, helped me decide on the chilaquiles. Wow. Just wow. If I lived in Chico, I would eat those chilaquiles every single day. Granted I'd be bigger than a hot air balloon, but it might just be worth it. My friend got the strawberry Nutella French toast, and another friend got the Fat Boy....shocker, both amazing. To top it all off, bottomless mimosas were something like $8?! New to Chico, my hubby and I and our son had breakfast there and the food was delicious, service was impeccable and we definitely put this as one of our top breakfast destinations. It was a busy Sunday morning so we opted to sit at the "counter" instead of waiting for a table. Best decision ever as the owner waited on us and was utterly charming. A terrific breakfast joint that's quirky, delicious, and serves beer? Hell yes. Ambiance is very nice; there is a giant bar to sit at if you're a lone wolf, or lots of little two-person tables if you're having a rom-fast. Eggs benedict were spot-on; perfect hollandaise sauce and plenty of food with the included fried 'taters. French press of coffee was delicious (not for coffee wimps - it's strong), and there was enough in there to fill my mug with breakfast and my thermos for lunch. The staff was young, friendly, and pretty damn energetic for 8:00am on a Sunday morning. If you're looking for breakfast in Chico, do it! You'll be stoked. read more

The Pesto eggs were FAB! The kids menu is wonderful and they have an option of grilled cheese which was great for my youngest son! We try to stop by everytime we are in Chico . Definitely a favorite for breakfast! Even if I didn't live so close, I would chose Cafe Coda most times that I wanted something better than a simple diner breakfast. At one time or other, I've had each of the pancake/french toast type dishes, all of the scrambles and Benedicts. All are great! My favorites are the Apple Oatmeal or Banana Walnut pancakes, the Applewood Hash scramble and the Coda Benedict. My friend's son got the yogurt granola parfait, which I tasted. Also very good! Love that the coffee is served in French Presses! I was impressed with the flavor. Ordered the Coda Benedict. The foccacia it comes on is fantastic. The potatoes could have been crisped up a little more, they were different shapes and sizes so some were perfect and others a little under done. My biggest gripe though is that they put a bechamel on top of the benedict (WTF!? Now that's just lazy.) instead of the more traditional hollandaise. The Benedict would have been better if the ratio of meat to bread increased or else use less bread. Overall good flavors, presentation good, the ratios of ingredients on the plate just needs to be tweaked. read more
