Cafe Bubamara delivers a warm, attentive dining experience with service that feels both welcoming and well-organized. Seating is first-come, first-served, and guests are placed based on availability, which keeps things fair and efficient even during busy times. The tables for two are intimate and cozy, perfect for conversation, though they can become a bit tight when ordering several dishes at once. That said, the staff was attentive and checked in often enough to clear plates and make room, which made the experience much more comfortable. The dessert menu is separate, allowing guests to enjoy their meal at an unhurried pace before deciding on something sweet. Their beverage offerings are thoughtfully presented. Herbal tea options include green tea, chamomile, and English tea (Stash), and the tea is served in a container that provides two full servings. The cappuccino is well made and served with a sugar crystal stick, adding a distinct old-world charm that enhances the café's European feel. I regret not asking for an additional order of Turkish coffee so that's a regret . What we ordered: * Greek Salad - $18.50 * Cappuccino - $6.80 * Herbal Tea - $6.00 * Uštipci - $17.25 * Musaka - $22.95 * Šnicla (Cutlet Sandwich) - $20.75 * 2 Diet Cokes - $8.00 The musaka is a baked dish and does take about 25 minutes to prepare, as it's made fresh with baked eggs, seasoned beef, and sliced potatoes layered on top. The wait is well worth it, resulting in a hearty, comforting dish that tastes authentically homemade. The Šnicla (cutlet sandwich) arrived beautifully presented on a wooden board, adding a rustic, elevated touch that matched the restaurant's aesthetic. Mom felt it lacked in seasoning but she Didnt leave any crumbs . The Uštipci were a standout--served with feta and honey, generously portioned, and so plentiful that we happily took some home. We were too full for dessert this time, but it's absolutely on the list for a return visit. Due to winter weather, we couldn't explore the back of the restaurant, but even from the main dining area, the decor is undeniably charming and full of character. Overall, Cafe Bubamara offers authentic flavors, generous portions, attentive service, and a cozy, old-world atmosphere that makes it a place worth revisiting.

I'm v adventurous w regard to food n like to try diff cuisines.when they had international day at work employees made different dishes from various countries. Macedonian cuisine caught my eye. Was delicious n different ever since then wanted to try other Macedonian food. A fellow employee recommended cafe bubamara n thought I'd try it w another friend for lunch, Cafe is in the heart of Clifton in botany village n I've never Been there. Cute restaurant. Under renovation so u had to go in thru side next to the pathed car. Very quaint. Decorated very nice. Friendly welcoming staff, We tried the veggie panini and mini burek- meat n spinach feta cheese. Thought was mini but they were quite big. Enjoyed the meat burek n a small piece of the spinach/ feta as my tummy was already full. Very nice flaky pastry n filling tasted yummy. The veggie panini was a generous portion w tomatoes roasted red peppers, olive tapenade n goat cheese. Tasted really good. Finished only half portion of it. Tx u for a great lunch, will be back again.

The plethora of fake flowers EVERYWHERE should have been the first red flag (at least they weren't dusty). Flowers even engulfed the flat screen TV. All the chicken based entrees and sandwiches had zero taste. Seasoning anyone? $4.00 for a teeny coke and no tap water available. Salads also were forgettable but the barak was tasty and with the right amount of flaky fluff. I say stick to the barak and perhaps grab a desert. This place maybe ok for a first date (cause it can be quite cozy) or just grab a desert after dinner elsewhere.

It's a cute restaurant with nice outdoor area which is nice when it's good weather. Tried their fresh lemonade, however I wasn't impressed and it's pricey. You have to add your own sugar in. But the fresh spinach and cheese burek was warm, crispy and delightful! It's one of the things they are known for so def try a burek. We also ordered the veggie pizza which was like upside down pizza made with fresh bread. We got the rafato cake for dessert to go and it was okay. The waiter was helpful in giving suggestions and letting us know what they are known for which is burek and beignets. As some of the items are made fresh it does take time to get your food once you order. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try and can't wait to go back to try other items along with the Turkish coffee. It's street parking and we were able to find spot easily.

What is a bubamara? Bubamara means ladybug in South Slavic languages! Loved finding the ladybugs throughout the stunningly beautiful Cafe Bubamara! Indoor and outdoor seating areas- every direction you look is scenic! Celebrated Father's Day! Brunch was amazingly delicious! Party of 4- we each othered entrees and shared! Loved all of them. MINI BUREK PIZZA BUREK HAM AND CHEESE OMEL CAPPUCCINO AMER COFFEE COFFEE LATTE TURKISH COFFEE ZELJANICA DOMACI DORUCAK FRSH SQUEEZE Orange Juice IN JAR The Turkish coffee had such a magnificent presentation! Hubby enjoyed the strong coffee! Orange juice was refreshing! Service was exceptional! Wished my latte was actually hotter, just warm. Definitely have to come to enjoy the amazing selections available! So excited to be there and spend time with my family- I forgot to check in!! Cafe Bubamara does not accept reservations. While looking for a brunch we saw the beautiful images of cafe Bubamara. Upon arrival we parked at the public parking lot, a block across the restaurant. The restaurant was pretty packed, but we were lucky to get a table right away. As we walked thru the restaurant, we got to see the gorgeous aesthetics of this place, filled with colors, flowers, and greenery. The menu had so many unique Turkish dishes I had never seen before. I started with the Turkish coffee, a hardcore black coffee that came in a small cute kettle pot which few sugar cubes in a bowl. The mini burek was a delicious bread filled with ground beef. Ustipci, that is like beignet, was full of fluffy soft yummy dough, with a bunch of cheese cubes. The domaci dorucak was a dish of three spicy beef sausages with side of bread, cheese and cucumber. The sausages were excellent. Our dishes were served in quick time. Service was amazing. Simply put we loved everything about this place, the food, the service, the ambience. We will be dining here more often now for sure.

Went here for a quick bite before heading to an event and it was a great experience. the backyard has a wonderful garden with luscious flowers and greenery. the food i got a chicken quesadilla and it came with salsa guacamole and sour cream. very flavorful and delicious. the front desk staff was condescending with an attitude but once we got to the garden the staff was very sweet and took care of my party. i'll totally go back here if im ever in the area!

Charming and lovely cafe at Clifton NJ. The decoration was beyond words. Flowers and antiques brought the ambiance to a different level. I like beef sausage links, very juicy and flavorful. Bread and pita are all toasted and buttered. Chicken sausages are a little dry. I don't like the ice tea. The iconic coffee is quite strong. It got really crowded for brunch / lunch. We went by 1130/12 and luckily got a table. The staff were friendly and attentive.

The atmosphere and garden are beautiful, if crowded and slightly claustrophobic. I had a couple of key issues. First, the breakfast platter with the beef sausage. My friend and I both got the same thing and both our eggs were cooked differently; hers were runny and mine were fully cooked. The sausage had an extremely gamey and meaty funk that made them hard to stomach. The bread did not come with butter or oil. The Turkish very coffee was good, however, and served in lovely cups. The restaurant also allows dogs in the outdoor area. Not sure if they're service animals only, but it was such a tight space that it made things uncomfortable. I would perhaps give this spot another chance to try the borek.

Listen- my friend and I didn't come nearly hungry enough so next time we go I'm trying more than just a salad and an app, but both were amazing!! We got coffee as well but it was fine- nothing special. They have a gorgeous outdoor patio that we missed because it was closed for the day for some reason, but the interior was very cozy so no complaints there. These little fried things were to diiiiie for, and eat them with the feta and honey and its chefs kiss! Will definitely be back :)

I am surprised I haven't reviewed Cafe Bubamara before because I thought I had. What an awesome spot, Turkish coffee was spot on with a Turkish delight treat on the side. Interesting and creative dishes to try here- anything in puff pastry was really tasty, delicious fillings. I've come here twice and would come again.

The burek - a filo-dough-type pastry filled with meat, potatoes, spinach, etc. is AMAZING. So flavorful and unlike anything I have eaten before. The Turkish coffee is strong and served beautifully on a tray with sugar and a little sweet. Service is attentive and fast. I highly recommend the spinach/feta burek - it is so large you could probably get a couple meals out of it too. read more

Was really shocked when stepping in this place - super cozy, amazing lovely decor ( felt like something out of NYC Greenwhich village, England ), superb menu, top notch service, fantastic pricing and fantastic outdoor seating ( during decent weather ). The only drawback was the street parking ( be sure to read the signs ). Was amazed to see such a top notch cafe in the area - lots of attention to detail ( i.e. plating / decor / menu ). Great place to spend time with friends over a cup of coffee and some yummy dessert. Will certainly go back & would highly recommend if you are in the area! read more

WOW! First time there and it's definetly a favorite. The food was incredible and the owner was super nice. He sat with us for a few and spoke about the culture behind the cafe. The food was amazing. I had the chicken sandwich but without the chicken or mozzarella(I'm vegan) and it was incredible. The special sauce was definetly the cherry on top. Great experience! The place is inexpensive and has a good selection. They have lots of cakes. They make food for all hours of the day. You want an omelette? Get an omelette. You want cake? Get cake. You wanna sandwich? Get a sandwich. It's small inside, but that's okay. You're there to eat. Not measure the place. The lady that helped me was nice. She helped me patiently while I decided what I wanted. She's explained anything I questioned on the menu. Her co-worker was funny, too. They kept me entertained. read more

I drove for an hour with my mom to get to this place on a Saturday afternoon and we were pretty excited to try the dishes from our country such as zucchini Burek, meet burek and banana and berry fruit cake. I must say the food did not disappoint. I taught the cake was pretty good, not too sweet and definitely fresh so I decided to take a piece of cake to go for my dad to try as well. Our waitress Ksnenija was very sweet and kept checking up and making sure were were ok. After a while we asked for some water and she asked us how many and I said 2 . Fifteen minutes later no water and we were pretty thirsty as their coffee was very acidic and tasted as it had been sitting for a while. My mom asked another lady who came to clean up our table who at the same time brought our check if we can get some water and she told us in a very arrogant tone "we don't serve water here and if you need water then you need to pay for a bottle. I just paid a check for over $40 and wasn't going to wait for a separate check for some water and I grabbed my bag and left. This experience left a very bitter taste in my mouth so most likely I will not be back. I understand that small business need to make their profit to stay in business but this lady just lost a paying customer over a free glass of "tap water" that wouldn't cost her a dime. All I have to say to this lady which I'm Not sure if she's just an employee or an actual owner is "good luck " with your business skills. read more

First time having anything Turkish. I was floored by how good the meat burek was. I prefer it over the pizza personally. The filling was juicy and flavorful, yet very simple. The coffee is very strong, not for me but I can see the appeal. The baklava was one of the best I've ever had. Tasted like there was a hint of lemon. Very intimate place so if anyone loud is there, you will hear their conversation. Don't come in starving - the bureks take time to cook as I'm sure they're baked. Took awhile to get our food but it was piping hot and fresh when we got it. I think there was only one served, and we didn't wait abnormally long but you could see a little struggle. read more

I can't rate the food because we never got seated. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait and patiently waited for 40 as we watched many groups of regulars get taken before us despite the no reservation policy. Then a man came and told us they were full and it would be another 30 minute wait...we left instead. read more

Stopped in for a casual dinner on a Sunday evening. We ate inside, but the patio also looked nice. I had the meat Burek - nice size, plenty to eat. It was perfectly done, flaky, with a good portion of the meat filling. Delicious and delightful. Others had different omelets - one normal and one Greek, served as a wrap. Both of those were very tasty, as well. Not really near my neighborhood, both worth the drive to get there. I'll go back! read more

Please visit here and eat! We were heading back to upstate New York and stopped for brunch. The cafe items were hot and bold , juice was fresh squeezed. Adorable 'Balkan' style cafe. The service was attentive & patient. I appreciated our server from Montenegro who generously gave us recommendations and background on each dish. We ordered a nutella crepe with strawberries and bananas and the 'sunka' calzone. Both were loaded with flavor. We also had the Turkish coffee which is much thicker than the coffee we are used to drinking. Turkish coffee is frequently accompanied with a cube of sugar which serves as a nice balance to the coffee. Overall this Eastern European cafe is rich in culture and exactly the type of place I want to stumble upon when visiting a new area. We will return. read more

What a gem of a place it came up on one of my dining apps as a place to try for brunch all I can say is good things. The place was packed with diners inside and out we got a small table on the street we enjoyed ethic music and were able to people watch while we waited for our food. I enjoyed Nutella and cherry crepes and my husband had the cafe club sandwich. Out food arrived hot and the presentation was charming. Delicious we ate every bite. Our waitress was lovely but a bit busy but we didn't mind because we enjoyed ourselves so much. We will be back. Check it out kinda cool place to bring a date. read more

i found this place on yelp for a quick spot to eat i was down to anything at that point but i got seated quick and food came right out within 10 min. but sand which i got was amazing especially with the chipotle sauce i believe it was . the bread was so crunchy, cheese was melted right. the picture doesn't do justice but that was all i got lol. would def come back to try different dishes (: read more

The food is excellent! It truly is. Well priced, too. Everything is served nicely as well, from main dishes to coffee. I wasn't a fan of our waitress. Young girl, you can tell she was very overwhelmed. Forgot our drink order multiple times. Kept speaking very loudly to her coworkers. The head of the restaurant came to check on us multiple times. He does a good job running the place.It's nice to see him so involved. They have a very large outdoor seating area. Very airy and nicely decorated. I did notice that a few lit their cigarettes so I guess smoking is allowed which I wasn't super happy about. All in all, I would definitely come back. I wish nothing but success for them. I just hope I wouldn't get the same waitress. :) read more

Favorite Slavic cafe in the area. Being from Slovakia I've always been wanting a place that gives me a feeling of home atleast somewhat. Great Turkish coffee and always always and I mean always get the Burek. Pizza Burek is my favorite. Keep up the great work read more

This is a little hidden gem, Balkan food at its finest. The Burke is my favorite and the desserts like Nutella crepes are amazing as well. Service is aLways friendly and attentive 10/10 recommend this place, also features an outdoor back patio with a huge flat screen for the sports fans. read more

I liked that it came with crispy pieces to add texture. The shish tawook surprised me as it didnt look super special, but it was actually very good! The chicken was juicy, fell apart easily, and had that nice grill flavor. It went well with the rice and vegetables. The yasmeen fries were hot and crispy, the garlic seasoning was a very nice touch. I would've liked if my mint lemonade had more mint flavor in it but perhaps that was my bad for not ordering the slush version. The portions were pretty generous, 19.95 is a fair price for all the food we received. Overall, we had a nice experience and am glad we got to try the place out.

Based on the very high ratings - we decided to give Cafe Bubamara a try. We came in for a quick lunch and were seated quickly. We sat in the inner room which affords a little more privacy - but is not as well serviced by the waiters. I decided to try the Burek (Spinach) and Yogurt. I also asked for ice water and was told it isn't available. You can only get bottled water. Is that even legal in NJ? We also got a Belgian waffle and shared both. The Burek was ok - Having had many Bureks in the past, this one seemed a little too tough on the outside (Nearly broke my tooth). The yogurt was also average - I like the more traditional "Ayran" which is more sour and yogurty. Finally - the Belgian waffle was a good one, very generous and freshly made. Service was spotty - which may be because we were in the back room, so I'd suggest getting a seat in the front room. Overall - seems the hype is way bigger than the actual quality of this place and the "No water" policy is just annoying. The cafe itself is absolutely beautiful.. thoughtfully designed, cozy, and inviting. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the ambiance and food. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel like a burden rather than welcomed guests. The place was nearly empty, yet we were told we couldn't sit at a table with four seats because there were only two of us. I would understand if the cafe had been busy, but with plenty of empty large tables, the policy felt unnecessarily rigid and unwelcoming. What made it worse was watching a woman with an infant in a stroller being hassled because the stroller was "slightly in the walkway," even though there was more than enough room for people to comfortably pass by. It just felt like the staff were more focused on enforcing arbitrary rules than creating a hospitable environment. The food was actually good, which makes the poor service even more disappointing. The menu at Cafe Bubamara has a variety of traditional Balkan dishes, my favorite being their burek. They also offer a variety of salads, sandwiches, and desserts. My favorite items to get from here is their burek, fried dough appetizer, which comes with honey and feta cheese, their savory crepes and their Turkish coffee or Nescafé. The atmosphere at Cafe Bubamara is cozy and inviting. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor seating area is a great place to enjoy a meal on a warm day. They also have space heaters for days when it's cold out. Overall, Cafe Bubamara is a great place to enjoy a delicious meal and a cup of coffee. The food is delicious, the coffee is excellent, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. I highly recommend Cafe Bubamara for breakfast or a date night. read more

We been going there for years every single Sunday after church. It was 90 degrees outside and I am pregnant and I have two year old daughter. The waitress takes my temp and tells me it's 95.5. Of course my temp will be high in this weather with no ac sweetheart and being pregnant and not having a zip of water since I woke up in order to take communion . Meanwhile I took my temp when I went to church and it was 98.5. Never ever gonna step a feet again neither my entire family that's been going there!! Oh and we own a restaurant too btw and we know how to stay clean.... we gave them so many chance and the waitresses are always rude. The only polite one is the hound waiter read more

I recently visited this restaurant and was extremely disappointed with the poor service and quality of food. My meal came out late and was cold, and when I brought it to the attention of the manager, he did not take any steps to correct the situation. All he offered was a half-hearted apology before walking away, leaving me feeling frustrated and ignored. To top it off, the total bill was not worth the price, even though the restaurant was cute and had a nice ambiance. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quality dining experience. read more

I come here regularly now for the bureks; goes great with yogurt to dip in which gives it a slightly sour taste. There is plenty of seating inside and outside but I do not recommend the yard on humid days when you're bound to get bitten by mosquitoes. They only sell pizza bureks as full size but they are well worth it! Also love the mushroom and spinach one!! read more

I went recently for the first time and had a spinach burek and turkish coffee. They were presented beautifully and both were absolutely amazing! The space is cute and cozy and the staff is extremely friendly and inviting. I will be coming back and highly recommend this to anyone in the area. read more

Cafe Bubamara is a great spot with a really nice ambiance and solid food. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful, and the vibe of the place makes it enjoyable to sit down and eat. The only downside is that it's a small space, so you do feel rushed at times to free up the table read more

Went there for brunch.. the decorations and the atomsphere is very friendly. Tried 2 different types of borek, the meat and spinach and cheese, the meat was amazing and the spinach was great.. the egg dishes are nothing special. Turkish coffee is a must. read more

Love the yummy cheese and spinach Burek, made from scratch, by authentic Balkan recipe. Good coffee too. We sat outside (so we could've with our dog), and we're given blankets to keep warm. We keep coming back to this joyful place. read more
