Local Bbq Salmon with veggy and Willow Creek Corn Pico de Gallo: the BEST !! SO SO fresh and original and good.I watched the others: Eel River skirt Steak Frites.Holy Moly!! Next Summer Agnolotti: local veggies plus ricotta mini raviolis. I stole one.Amazing!! Two folks had Beef Burgundy that is such a beautiful dish with lovely piped in potatoes and its in a piping hot crockdish.Fantastic. and one happy guest (well we were ALL happy guests!) made the appetizer Caprese a dinner:local Heirloom Tomatoes, fresh Moz.local basil and olive oil. Excellent cup of pour over blue bottle coffee. They know how to brew a cup and it is worth the wait.

This place stinks. You cannot even enter and if you do you need to get out quickly. A mixture of hot butter and burnt cheese and stuffy. We tried to wait for a few minutes and get something and leave, but all of us were hand to nose and in convulsion. I recommend an air purifier or a stronger kitchen hood. read more

If I could give this place ten stars I would, but five will have to suffice. I absolutely love Brio. It is BY FAR my most visited restaurant in town. The quality of their food is head and shoulders above all of the other coffee places around here. Their pastries are amazing (especially their quiches and scones), their bread is to die for, and they make the best lattes in town. Along with Finnish Hot Tubs and Sauna, this is one spot in Arcata where you can almost imagine you're in a difference city, if not country. Another reviewer described it as the "best euro cafe north of San Francisco" and, while I haven't been in every cafe along the 101, I think that might be pretty accurate. There is usually a crowd, and a bit of a wait, so this might not be a great choice if you're in a hurry. But, if you're looking for a cup of coffee and a baked good (try the morning bun!) done right, this is your spot. read more

This place has great breakfast, pastries, and such. They do Blue Bottle coffee and had Peet's teas, but since Peet's discontinued their teas, I am not sure what they have now. They are located on the beautiful Arcata plaza. They can be busy, especially during a Saturday Farmer's Market, and people even line up for their opening at 7am. I am guilty of that. read more

I'd like to give it a 2.5 because it was really nothing I'd recommend or advise against. Just so-so. I stopped a couple people near the plaza asking if there was a cafe they'd recommend, and they both recommended this place. Maybe chai lattes are just not their specialty though, because mine was not that good and I'm really not THAT picky about them. The service was average, not real friendly or anything, just did their job I guess and took my money and made my drink and kept chatting behind the counter. I did enjoy the patio though! Also, I came here to do homework and the Internet said there was wifi there, and there apparently is not. Oh well! read more

Brio is about the best bakery in the area. The croissants are by far the best around. They use Blue Bottle Coffees and mostly organic ingredients. The pastries are sometimes a little over sweet for me, but still yummy. They are always super busy and getting a latte and a croissant can take upwards of 30 minutes, but I've also made it out in 5, so it is hard to predict. If you have a chocolate craving one of the brownies will give you a decadent fix! read more

I usually have positive experiences at Cafe Brio. When you first walk in, you are greeted by the wonderful aroma of pastries coming out of the oven and impressive looking cakes. You then get the awesome smell of coffee beans being ground per order. The food is very good. I like to have the Avocado-caramalized onion sandwich. You really come here for the coffee. I love that they make your coffee to order in individual presses. The place is small, so sit outside if you can. The only negative is that there tends to be a lot of hipster, so avoid their BS if possible read more

Cafe Brio may seem a little pricey, but everything on their menu is fresh even the fresh squeezed OJ and fresh ground coffee beans! You can choose to sit inside or out side. Sure the food is pretty good and the location great. But the wait to place your order gets old fast. If you wanna chat with your friends it's okay but other than that I don't recommend it. And the wait to get your food is even longer. Today it was 35 minutes for two eggs on toast that never showed. I nursed my capucino till it was cold and gave up waiting for the food. Hands down the best cafe in humboldt. Great coffee (Blue Bottle) pastries and lunch options. The mac & cheese and chicken pot pie are really good as well as their composed salads. The portion sizes can be a bit inconsistent from time to time. The space is nice if a bit crowded (think busy cafe in Paris) at lunch time. Cafe Brio is also open for dinner on Fridays (and Saturdays occasionally) the space is transformed into a small French bistro with table service. The menu for dinner is a mix of classic French (sausage & lentils, Beef Burgundy, and Asian inspired dishes) a little weird but it works. Cafe Brio follows a farm to table concept getting everything locally and organic where possible. read more

I'm really torn between giving Brio three and four stars. Brio is an Arcata establishment, and I've been frequenting it more or less frequently for almost six years now. In that period of time they have raised their prices, but it seems like the quality of the food has decreased. They make the best croissant in Humboldt County, and many of their pastries and desserts are both beautiful and delicious. At peak times (weekends, particularly) be prepared to wait. Service can be spotty but I'll chock that up to how busy they are most of the time. read more

This is possibly the best food I ate the entire time in Arcata/Eureka, and it's right off of Arcata square, making it the best location in town! All of the food we had here was amazing, and so was the coffee, as you can probably tell from the pictures everyone else has posted. Will definitely be coming back if in the area again! It is a bit loud inside when crowded, but if it's a nice day out, they have ample seating outdoors to enjoy the weather. read more

Brio was amazing. I would highly recommend it for breakfast. The Brio Benedict is now on my "Top 5 best things I've ever eaten" list! There was something on the dish that tasted like bacon but looked like ham...not sure how they did it but it will haunt my dreams until I figure it out... Best latte I've had in awhile. Even better than the fancy coffee places in the City. There was a long wait, but worth it. Stopped by here during the farmer's market. Biggest quiche I have ever laid eyes on and the crust was To Die For. Gorgeous pastries and a great cup of coffee. Staff was efficient and friendly. Four stars for breakfast on the plaza, two stars for service. For the prices I really don't want to bus my own table. I could overlook that; however, coordination between the cashier, the barista, and the kitchen is a recurring nightmare. I've gotten "for here" food handed to me in a bag "to go," gotten what should be the simplest breakfast ever--an espresso drink and a croissant--served out of sync, with my coffee finished before I ever see my croissant...on multiple occasions. The wait for even a coffee can be excruciating. It's a shame, as the breads and baked goods deserve better. read more

Cafe Brio gets lots of great reviews for early to mid-day meals (and I'm sure they earn all the praise) and on that basis my wife and I decided to have dinner there this evening. Not a good decision. Very limited menu, and at 5:00 in the evening they were sold out of a substantial proportion of that. We ordered ravioli and would have liked a small salad with it, but they don't sell salads other than of the large dinner salad variety (they do sell soup and salad combinations but have apparently determined that selling the smaller salad by itself or in conjunction with dinner selections is inappropriate). If you like wine with dinner -- we do -- they have a very limited selection of that, too. So, listen to everyone else's review when it comes to meals/snacks/coffee before 2:00 PM, but I'm betting that Arcata has better alternatives for dinner. read more
