It's time for an update. They have done a nice job with the outside seating. Great service like always. Today I ordered the Monte Christo Sandwich. For those of you who don't know what that is let me explain. It's a deep fried sandwich filled with ham, turkey, and melted Swiss cheese. Dusted with powdered sugar, served with boysenberry syrup. Sounds fattening and delicious. It was. I don't think your supposed to eat the whole thing in one sitting. I did. Now I feel like I ate a basketball. Ugg! Their Monte Christo is fantastic. I went and just felt rushed. My waiter was not too attentive and left us unattended for too long a couple of times. Like, when you start wondering if he abandoned you. Yet, when he was nearing the end of his shift, he asked us to pay because he was going to leave soon or if not, somebody else will handle it. Sure enough, he comes a few moments later to see if we had our payment ready. It was the most attentive he had been to us, but only because he wanted his tip before clocking out. It's usually when they just open, and their coffee tastes old - I was shocked! To by honest if the food was "AMAZING" I'd come back but maybe this is just a cool spot for the Oxnardians idk... The food was good, and there was a good amount for cost in today's economy. Above all, in a world where customer service has gone out the window, the service here was top-notch. Everyone was friendly and attentive. I felt it was necessary to post this because people usually post negatives. This place was a great find. I went in April 2021 so we were still dealing with Covid, but restaurants had just re-opened for indoor dining. This was the first place I had eaten inside at for over a year! The wait staff all wore their masks and the tables were spaces, with tables left empty to allow for social distancing. The food was great. I ordered the Chilaquiles plate and it was YUM! I asked for some changes to the dish (egg white sub, and minus the cheese/cream) and they accommodated me with no errors. Always a good time here. I give it 4 stars because it can get VERY crowded on a Saturday morning. Since we like to eat outside, we found ourselves surrounded by hungry patrons waiting for a seat. And because there isn't really any seating for waiting patrons, they just kind of stand around amidst those who DO have a seat. Not the most peaceful way to start the weekend. The food is always 5 stars. Our go to are the eggs Benedict and the chicken and waffles. If you want iced coffee, they just pour coffee over ice. I have been meaning to come here for the longest time! Finally made it. It was on a busy Saturday morning, but all in all, it was worth the wait! When my guest and I arrived people were seated outside eating; waiting to be seated; standing around, just lots of people! Always a great sign in my book! When I got my name on the books I was told it would be a 20 minute wait. We almost turned around to leave, but decided to stick it out. Very glad we did! We also took advantage of the wait time and decided ahead of time what we wanted to order. As soon as we were seated we ordered. Boom! I ordered the Breakfast Burrito and my guest ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. My guest also got a cup of coffee, and her one comment about the coffee was that it was very strong. She had to get several ice cubes to water it down. But, she still drank it so all was good! The Breakfast burrito was SO good! It had beans in it, which was kind of odd but not a big deal. I would have LOVED it even 100% more if it had had chorizo in it, but I digress. It was served very hot, and the eggs and beans were excellent. My guest really liked her Chicken Fried Steak. She had brought up a good point that Chicken Fried Steak is usually hit and miss at most places, but at Cafe Amri she said it was a hit! Service was basic. We came in on a Sunday afternoon, so it was pretty busy and packed with people; however, the staff informed us it would only be a 10 minute wait. Awesome! We ordered the following: 1.
