Love the ambiance here! Such a staple in our family for Sunday outings. This place is so great that it is POPULAR! Therefore Wait time is usually pretty long, but that tells you how bomb the food is! Try calling ahead to get in the list ahead of time, but I promise they are worth the wait. My husband loves the michelada and I love their mimosas although I love EVERYTHING on their menu, Favorite dish for me has to be their country fried steak. My boyfriend and I planned on being in Oxnard for the weekend, so I looked up brunch spots with good reviews and ended up going here. When we arrived on Sunday morning, we were told it would be a 20 minute wait, but it turned out to be over half an hour. On the plus side, you can have free coffee (it tasted okay--not that strong) and cookies while you wait. I ordered the Seafood Benedict and my boyfriend ordered the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs. I chose the Seafood Benedict because 1) I like eggs benedict and 2) the smoked Ahi tuna was unique for an eggs benedict. The eggs and the Hollandaise sauce were tasty. Having the dish with smoked tuna instead of salmon was interesting--it had good flavor, but the tuna was overcooked. My boyfriend enjoyed his Corned Beef Hash. We also ordered a small stack of pancakes, which were fluffy and delicious. Service was okay. The restaurant was really busy, so sometimes it took awhile to flag down our waitress, and when we did we had to wait awhile for her to come back with our coffee, napkins, etc. She was friendly, but acted overly friendly (instead of being natural). Overall, the food here is good for the price. I'm not as patient as I used to be when I was younger, so I'm not sure if the 30+ minute wait was completely worth it. Wanted to like this place but it didn't deliver on taste or food quality which doesn't make sense given the high prices and high ratings. This place is not remotely four star good. The biscuits and gravy were not good. The fried chicken was not good. There was nothing exciting about the club sandwich and the meats used were processed. I loved this place! Was passing through and found this place on Yelp. Had great reviews so decided to stop by. I'm so glad! We only had to wait about 15mns and our waitress was the best. She was so lovely and made great recommendations. I didn't get a chance to take pics of the food because we where so hungry. While in town for a minute, I was able to catch up and chomp down on some breakfast with a friend of mine. I have heard great things about Cafe Amri, so when he suggested it, I hopped at the chance to check it out. When we arrived. We were promptly seated outdoors, per our request - ha! Covid joke. Our server offered us mimosas and we were not ones to turn it down. I believe my first one was a mango/pineapple and the second mimosa was mango. Tasty! My friend ordered the chicken fried steak, which is my go to, but today. Today! I saw they had a Monte Cristo on the menu and I am not one to play around. The MC did NOT disappointment. It was crunchy yet doughy, cheesy, savory, and the right amount of sweetness. It was served with blueberry syrup (?), but I elected to be true to the Monte and spread jam on it. So bomb! The chicken fried steak looked good too, but c'mon... you can't pass up a battered, deep fried, ham, and Swiss cheese sandwich sprinkled with powder cheese. Get you one! read more

They are not service dog friendly and do not know the law. They are allowed to ask 2 questions which are is this a service dog ? And what is it trained for? Instead they would rather question your disability and they are worried about complaints from customers about service dogs. I was personally insulted by the owner who questioned whether I had a disability. They need sensitivity training and training in ADA LAWS. read more

Okay, so my brother kept telling me about this place, we finally went, with my other younger brother and my grandma. Of course i got the chicken and waffles to compare it with Roscoe's chicken and Waffles. =) So, i got my meal and it was freaking DELISH! the chicken was good, better than Roscoes, but...with the waffles, i say Roscoe's wins. Who knows, maybe i need to go back to Roscoe's again just to make sure their waffles are really better =p My grandma liked her pancakes, so if she like Cafe Amri, then it must be good =) i had a good first time experience that I went back and took my two cousins, and another time I took one of my old friends to Cafe Amri. Thanks to our Yelp community for this BFast find! I like to try chicken fried steak when I go to BFast places for the first time. I find it to be a good indicator of the chef's skills and care in his kitchen. This version was pretty darn good: crispy crust on the outside and flavorful, tender meat inside. Excellent! Gravy was okay, but I added a good bit of pepper. Hash browns were very good, though I think the serving of Egg Beaters was around a half-cup (a little skimpy IMO). Service was superb! Went for breakfast this morning, we were shocked at how much the prices were raised. The food was warm, we only got served coffee twice and for $4.00 a cup I would have expected at least another serving. the real shocker was when the waitress wouldn't give us our check until we told her whether we were paying with cash or card!! we told her it would be cash and when we received the check, we noticed that if you paid with a card, you got hit with a service charge! AND the gratuity was tacked on to that.! It was a $30.00 tip for not especially great service and warm food!! Needless to say, we won't be back. Would not recommend this restaurant due to the rude host. Don't know his name or what his position is. I visited on 3/1/24. The host was not happy that we didn't want to sit at a table stationed in the middle of the room. We kindly advised him we would wait for a booth. I have been to Cafe Amri 4 times. Every time it is superb. I cannot say enough about the fabulous weight staff. They listen to and make sure every meal is perfect. The cooks are beyond excellent. My husband gets the lucky tuna Benedict. He says it is the best Benedict he has ever had. And he's had it here three times. The fried chicken is to die for. The flavor of the moisture the seasoning the breading everything is excellent. And not greasy. The pancakes the waffles excellent. Always make them Erma's way with the fruit in the nuts and the whip cream. I have brought friends who don't like eggs but they like eggs here. I usually expect better from this place as I do know the owner. I like that they expanded. I ordered the Vegetable Omelette which comes with choice of toast or pancakes AND fruit OR potatoes for $10.25. I can't eat that many carbs. I asked for the omelette, the hasbrowns and a side salad. I was VERY annoyed to find out that I was charged an extra $1 to sub a salad and then $3.99 for a SIDE OF HASHBROWNS. Pretty sure it comes with the breakfast in the first place? That was AFTER our food took 30 minutes. My Mom was very irritated but I insisted we just hang out and talk; our server was very polite and patient with me as I had questions regarding dietary restrictions. It was't a good start to our morning especially when we got the bill. I didn't say anything at that point because I was irritated and just wanted to leave. I've visited this place multiple times, and each time it's always something.... We've waited long periods of time just to even be greeted by our server, we've had to send a uncooked cinnamon roll, undercooked meat, and it seems like we keep getting served day old coffee, the coffee is absolutely terrible there. Food is average at best, they hardly use any seasoning if any at all. Customer service is terrible. Today we ordered fried chicken and waffles, and the French toast combo from DoorDash. The food was completely cold had no heat to it what so ever and the waffle and French toast were hard as hell as if it had been sitting out for a long period of time... Very very disappointed in the quality of service we received on not only multiple visits but also through their delivered food. The food temperature wouldn't have been an issue if we lived far from the restaurant BUT..... we literally live about a quarter mile away across the street ... go figure ...
