My boss comes here a lot and always raves about the place. I finally had time to stop by and I definitely would have to say this place is worth coming back for a second maybe even a third time. Atmosphere: Rustic style decor with wood floors and shiplap entrance walls. Very country farmhouse style. Comfy and cozy place. Not too big and not to small. Windows on all walls in the dining area to give the place a lot of natural lighting. Service: Hostess greeted us at the door as well as the server. Guess he wasn't busy at the moment. Sat us down and started us off with waters for the table. Recommended entrees and made any suggestions as we had questions. Food: Presentable food. Decent size portions especially the flatbread. For a table of 8 we ordered 5 dishes and no apps with enough to take home. I would definitely recommend the flatbread. Not greasy at all and holds well with all the ingredients on top. Cafe Amici. Did this place change hands?? Was a good place at one time. The French Press was served at the table at one time and now we were told by the young inexperienced server that she was not allowed to bring the press to the table. The ice cold dishes that were placed at our table for appetizers were wet and had lint on them (ew). The chicken pot stickers were room temp/cold. The elder female worker who seemed in charge, made us feel that we were lucky to have been seated by her. The male server wasn't happy that we asked about the French Press at the table and then had a staring problem. I don't mind paying $20 for avocado toast but at least ... try to fake that you care about your customer. This is a hospitality business.. I've had a few and would strongly suggest the owners train their employees. The additional 3.5% 'admin' fee on the bill is added by them whether you pay cash or charge.. unless you complain when you are paying cash then they subtract it (felt like a mini-scam). First time I have ever written a review. The place had a good vibe at one time.. sadly it seems over. so many other choices for customers maybe close the doors and start again so you can compete. read more

Went here for brunch with my gorgeous girlfriend. I called ahead to see if they were busy at all but we managed to get seated with no issues. Our waitress came by and got our drinks. We ordered the finest tap with lemons in it. That came over and we decided to order the fried calamari. It came out fast and it was decent. The breading could have used more salt. They give you a lot for the $14 it costs but got old fast. Served with two sauces we sided with the marinara which was a little too acidic for our liking and the Ginger Soy sauce which did not compliment well in our opinion. If you are big on calamari you won't be disappointed but I'd order a pizza next time. We then ordered our entrees and I got the chicken Milanese sandwich with sweet potato fries and my girlfriend ordered the prosciutto sandwich with the same fries as well. Wish our waitress was more attentive with our drinks since we both ended up having empty glasses and having to ask for more. Our entrees made there way to the table and we dug in. The homemade bread these sandwiches come in are fabulous with a wicked crunch and texture. I definitely liked the prosciutto sandwich better than my Milanese. It offered more flavor which each satisfying bite. The chicken Milanese sandwich had me wanting for more. With the cutlet being rather greasy and thin, it desperately needed something to help lessen the dryness of this meal. Or better yet... have a thicker cut of chicken so there's some flavor and moisture. I would not order it again. Overall the experience was above average for the price of the best. The atmosphere was pleasant although loud and everyone looked like they were enjoying their time dining there. One of the things that annoyed me was when it came to the bill there was a credit card fee for using that over cash. With each entree and item on the menu being expensive as it is I was surprised they are still asking for an extra $2 for using a more convenient and safer method of payment. For a place being this busy and life is coming back to normal I find it unacceptable. I'd stick to Willow and Whisk for brunch. I felt like I was paying more for less at this place. I went around 11:30 for a brunch date to grab some lunch with my boyfriend. They were still offering the breakfast menu but we agreed on lunch. Calamari is one of our favorites so we went for that as an appetizer. The portion size was huge and the Calamari was cooked perfectly, nice and soft but crispy. I was not that impressed with the marinara sauce as an Italian and I thought it was a little on the acidic side but it still complemented well with the calamari. I have had worse sauce so this was manageable and matched better than the ginger soy sauce. I would also have added a little more pepper and salt to the calamari itself. For entrees we each got a sandwich with sweet potato fries and each ate a half of the different sandwiches. We first tried the prosciutto sandwich and were blown away by the fresh crispy ciabatta bread made in house. The sandwich was well built as the acidity of the peppers balanced out the salty prosciutto and stringy fresh mozzarella. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience of that sandwich. By that time we dug into the fries and were impressed as well because they had the perfect amount of crispy and chewiness I was looking for in a sweet potato fry but the sea salt was a little overpowering in some bites. We were way to full to eat the other chicken Milanese sandwich but we tried a bite and wasn't as impressed. It was a little on the greasy side and I felt it needed more flavor. Maybe an addition of pesto would help add complexity and moisture to the sandwich. I did like the red onions and the fresh mozzarella and thought the chicken was a little on the dryer side. I am giving them a 3 because while the food did come quickly and was pretty good we had to ask for our waters to be refilled and there was an extra charge when using credit card which most people do these days. The prices seemed to already reflect this as they were slightly high so I saw no reason for an extra charge. While the food was good I didn't think anything was amazing for the prices they were. Overall was a good lunch experience and we were left very full but a little surprised by the price based on what we got. read more

Wow...that was a bad meal. We ordered fig salad and grilled artichoke to start. The figs were as hard as a rock. The "grilled artichokes" were from a can. Really bad, flavorless dishes. We all ordered salads. Mine was the Wedge Salad. There was barely any blue cheese on the plate and the Blue Cheese dressing was a milky liquid with a few Blue Cheese crumbs. Wow...that was bad. They should be embarrassed to send those plates out of the kitchen. Too bad. Was looking forward to a fresh and flavorful salad. Place has been around a long time. This restaurant is a must try! It is small and cozy, perfect for special occasions or just a tasty bite to eat. The food is unbelievably good!! Loved the mushroom truffle pizza and chicken parm. Ordered a fried calamari appetizer too, also delicious. Portions are extremely generous, so come hungry. The service was also very good. It has been a long time since I last visited Cafe Amici and I know why! Had the pasta special which was shrimp and lobster in a scampi sauce! Well, I got a very oily slimy dish with 4 medium shrimp and no lobster. Complained and was offered a dessert on them! REALLY! An almost $40 dish which cost them about $4! Disappointed.... We went there at approximately 1:30 pm on July 5th. Not to busy but needed to wait approximately 20 minutes to be seated. Our server Michelle arrived at our table and took our order. She returned with our drinks. Sometime later the busboy delivered our meal. Our server did not even check on us during our meal, no drink refill was offered. The busboy though was trying his best to stay on top of everything. We did notice the manager setting tables, seating guests, and around the dining room.... This being said, she did not stop by our table or any other table to check on the guests. I do have to say the food was good but after a trip to the restroom and seeing inside the the kitchen, I have my doubts on the food handling practices ( see photo of inside the kitchen and the tub of cut up chicken pieces on the shelf not being refrigerated). After we paid the check and walked right past the manager, not even a Thank you, or a good bye. I try to patronize local businesses, but I think this one will be a hard pass - no thanks Funny more than a month later and the owner writes a response and it is loaded with excuses .... Maybe proper training of the employees you do have would be a good start. I also see other customers have issues and they also received excuses.... Seems like a pattern. read more

Over priced for the quality. Ordered a grilled chicken Caesar salad for $17! It was so bland but I ate it anyway. The Thai chicken salad they used to have was amazing; with a spicy sauce and a peanut sauce as well. Prices in the Wyckoff location are pricer than Ho-Ho-Kus. read more

Had a chance to drop in to Cafe Amici this past week while in the area to see a client and we came here for a lunch meeting. Pretty decent American/Italian style resto with good service and tasty food. It's a nice little surprise of a place as it's in the corner of a strip mall area. Simple menu with a diverse selection of salads and entrees. Bright and pleasant decor with a mixed crowd of those on lunch breaks to locals chatting over a meal. The noise level gets a bit loud in here as the tables fill up but not so bad that you can't hear yourself speak. They offer around ten different "signature salads" and all looked pretty solid. I had the Ahi Tuna - Seared ahi tuna, avocado, fresh mango, cherry tomato, mixed greens, wasabi, pickled ginger, soy ginger vinaigrette for $17. Pretty delicious actually and the tuna was seared and crusted just right on the outside. The service was also friendly and attentive. Would definitely come back again if in the area. read more

We met our friends here for dinner. It's small restaurant with nice atmosphere. They don't take reservations unless it's for 8 or more people. So we put our name down dnd waited in the smallest hallway ever. No place to sit or wait unless you stood outside in the 20 degree weather. We asked one of the girls working if she could open our wine so we can drink while we Waited since this place is a bring your own wine!! No liquor license I Guess, but after a few minutes she came back and says we have ran out of wine glasses, o ok then. After 20 minuets or so we got seated and it took another 20 minutes before a server even came to us, and that is why I took one star off! As for the food we ordered the pasta special, filet mignon, and hanger steaks. For desert we had apple tower and baklava and They were all delicious! Was visiting from out of town, and came here on a Monday night. There was no wait, and we were attended to promptly, the bottles of wine we brought, quickly opened and poured. This place is BYOB. Started w the zucchini strings, which were tasty, but they could've used some kind of dipping sauce or aioli. I added salt to them and squeezed fresh lemon on them, which added some more flavor. I had the turkey burger w sweet potato fries for my dinner, which was delicious. The burger was seasoned so well and the mango chutney on it added the perfect amount of sweetness. I was between this and the short rib burger, which also looked great. My bf, who is from the area and has gone here often, got his usual meal of the taglitelle fungi. A little bit on the pricey side, but you definitely cannot go wrong with Amici. Also, if it's getting later in the evening definitely call ahead because it gets really packed even on week nights when you wouldn't expect it to be. My go to dish for dinner is the chicken milanese and the portobello mushroom sandwich for lunch. I've heard the pizza is very good as well. Love Cafe Amici! The staff is super friendly and the restaurant is neat, clean, and beautifully decorated. A bit pricy, but large portions. Their Veggie Burger on the 7 grain bread was great the first time I went, but just ok the second. It's super filling and healthy and doesn't make you feel gross! I get it sans chipotle mayo or on the side, but choose sweet potato fries as a side when I want a treat. They are delicious. Usually get that and split it with the Spicy Thai salad with my sister. Amazing and exactly as described. Dressing on the side perfect (see below). Have also tried The Kale salad. I judge my salads on how they taste without dressing, and this wasn't great. With the dressing it was ok, but who knows what's in a creamy dressing :/. All their salads look great, along with the entrees and specials. My cousin loves the Penne Vodka and the Pizza. Went here today for Mother's Day. We were there for the 10:00 brunch seating at 10:00 AM. Our orders were taken at about 10:15. The food did not get to us until 11:15. No one came over to our table to explain; our server did not look in our direction every time she came out of the kitchen; always looked down. When I did finally get her attention she said something about a problem in the kitchen. My dish, which I had previously had and enjoyed was not good today; very overcooked. I hope this was a one off experience, but I probably won't go back to find out. read more
