Parking - Plentiful Atmosphere- Hole in the wall vibe (intimate) Prices very affordable Experience: I had a fantastic time. I love when food is affordable and the portions are massive ‼ I ordered Cevapcici (sandwich) and and Lamb Shank. The Lamb was Togo. I thought I would still be hungry . I was wrong. The Cevapcici was filling, savory, and a great choice. I don't know the name of the sauce it's served with, but that was also delicious. Creamy, savory, and a great addition to the sandwich. The Lamb Shank matches what I spoke on about the sandwich. What a great place to eat. Please, take these food descriptions at your own risk. I'm not a food connoisseur. I'm adding this to my list of restaurants that I would frequent when I am hungry. read more

Cafe Adel - Cevapcici - Mediterranean Near Me - Houston, Texas

They have amazing food, service and it's always a good time here. I have tried almost everything on the menu and it's always delicious.

Ordered Hummus as an appetizer and it came with this fried dough; the combo was super good and we could tell it was freshly made. The Burek we ordered was half spinach/half beef and ended up liking the spinach a lot more since the rest of the plates were meat heavy. There was a gulas brunch special (replacing mashed potatoes with eggs) was really good since the sauce had a really savory seasoning. The star of the meal was the mixed platter though with the meats. The flat meatball-like thing was sooooo good as well as the finger looking ground meat. The chicken was juicy but nothing crazy flavorful. Next time might ask if we can replace chicken with more meat. The veggies on the skewers were really good though and it complemented the protein well. There were roasted potatoes underneath but I think by the end of the meal we left most since we were full. Ended the meal with a fig and chocolate crepe! Although they were nice and warm I felt it could've been filled with more spread to amp up the flavor. Our waitress Maria was super helpful and all her recommendations were great!! The inside of the place is pretty cute too and would be nice for a brunch with friends or midday meal on a day out. read more

Was craving my favorite feel good meal in the city. Food was good as always came out super hot and freshly made from scratch. Impeccable service is always a shoulders glance around. The restaurant is always not super busy with a great environment to have a great first date or family meal read more

First time having Bosnian food and would definitely recommend Cafe Adel. Small restaurant with a little bar and TV in the back. The service was great, not too many people there. If you love cheese, order the Kajmak Dip (traditional Bosnian cream cheese) with the Cevapcici (it comes with a small side of Kajmak but not enough for me personally). Everything we ordered was great, not sure I'd order the Lamb Shank again - not as tender as I've had elsewhere but flavors were great. read more

Came here with our favorite culinary adventurous friends last Saturday night. We were greeted when we came in by what seemed like the only server in the restaurant (which wasn't a bad thing, as he was very fast and friendly). He invited us to sit at a table, and promptly brought us the wine/alcohol list. My bf and I ordered non-alcoholic drinks, but one of my friends ordered a Peroni while they waited for the bottle of wine they ordered. Soon after, an extremely nice gentleman who I assume is the manager came over and was extremely apologetic. It seems that they were out of the wine my friends ordered, but he offered them an alternative. He brought two glasses for them to try his suggestion, which they really liked, so he brought them out a new bottle. Soon after, the gentleman who seated us and took our original drink orders was back to take our food order. Our friends ordered the Girice to start and the Mixed Platter. I ordered the Meza and beef Burek to start, and the Cevapcici for my entree. My bf ordered the Gulas. In no time at all, our appetizers were delivered to our table. We loved everything! The Burek was delicate but savory. The Girice (which I was afraid to try) was loved by everyone who ate it, and the Meza was beautiful. Also delivered to the table was a little bowl of Bosnian bread that was just fabulous! Once we were about done with our appetizers, the food was delivered. I was so excited about the Cevapcici, as I've known about the traditional Bosnian dish for many years now. It definitely did NOT dissappoint. My bf said his Gulas was fantastic, and my friends' Mixed Platter was fantastic! The meat was all hot and extremely flavorful. We are SO glad we decided to try Cafe Adel, and can't wait to go back! read more

The food was delicious! So fresh, not greasy/oily, the co-owners even came and checked in on us and were friendly. Service was on point! Nice casual dining spot, we took our toddler there and she enjoyed the food as well. Our order was the spaghetti and meatballs, fried anchovies, stuffed cabbage rolls and the veggie pizza. We will be back to try all of the other dishes on their menu! read more

Food was great and service was good as well. I have wanted to try this place for a while and it did not disappoint and the quality and flavors were excellent. The restaurant is very clean and pleasantly decorated and has a nice relaxed atmosphere - the only detractor was the Shen Yun advertising in the window, as I prefer to support businesses that don't push Falun Gong propaganda read more

I went in for lunch and I don't know why it wasn't packed. The food was amazing! My only suggestion / request (bc I will be back) is the atmosphere would be so much nicer if the TV wasn't on. See you soon! read more

i love the kabobs the salad is always fresh and the salad dressing has so much flavor

Lamb sausage was fantastic. Creamy cheesy sauce that made my mouth water. Had a nice flat bread to mop it up with. I also had a side of cabbage salad, shredded cabbage, way oil and vinegar. It was OK, not much to it but refreshing. The next time I went I got the cabbage rolls. The cabbage was a bit gray from over cooking. There were only three and there wasn't much rice/beef mixture inside. Not quite a filling dinner, but the flavor was good. I would go back for the sausages. read more

In Houston, there are a couple of spots that I call my "take myself on a date place". In just 2 visits (3 if you count my take out order of burek), Cafe Adel has become such an establishment. On my first trip in, accompanied by my friend who suggested trying Cafe Adel, we tried the kajmak dip from the appetizer menu, a traditional Bosnian cream cheese made fresh in house served with house baked pita. For my meal, I had the Stuffed Pljeskavica, a meat patty stuffed with mushrooms and cheese and served with a side of ajvar, sort of like a burger but with better bread. My friend had the beef burek, a beef and onion stuffed filo pastry made fresh daily by the owner's mom. Bureks also come in the option of spinach, potato, or cheese and are served with a side of kajmak or ajvar depending on the type. Hearing from a neighbor that the salmon is delicious, on my second, this time solo trip in, I decided to give it a try. Practicing mindful eating with my first bite, the warmth of salmon with the accompanying stew and rice almost made me cry. Yes, I nearly cried over food because it was like taking a bite of comfort. The salmon was cooked wonderfully, and the entire dish satisfying while still light. Thank goodness they gave me a minute before asking how it was so that I could speak. A different neighbor has commented that the lamb chops are the best he has eaten in the entire Untied States. That is second hand information, but I am inclined to believe it true. To add to the food experience of Cafe Adel, know that you will walk through the door a stranger one time only. The interior is quaint, and the owner and staff make it a point to know everyone who comes in and to make everyone feel welcome. A first trip quickly becomes akin to a Sunday afternoon lunch with family. Every other Friday they have live music (reserve a table in advance on these evenings if your party will be large). Parking is more than plentiful. Please go and support this wonderful local business. And enjoy. read more

This is absolutely a great addition to the Houston food scene. Although Bosnian cuisine may seem like something you wouldn't normally try, you should definitely reconsider. My favorite Bosnian go to plates are always cevapi and burek. Here they make them exceptionally well, you cant go wrong with these! Id definitely recommend the Spinach burek which is a stuffed cheese bread, hands down the best version I've tried. There are definitely other plates to consider! What works well here is the location, atmosphere, decent wine selection, great food and great customer service! Give it a try, you wont be disappointed. read more

If you've never tried authentic Bosnian food you're missing out. This place is top notch and authentic. Good crunch and savory flavor. read more

Absolutely delicious with incredible service! I had the cheese Burek which was flaky crispy and with just the perfect amount of cheese. My friends also ordered the cabbage rolls that were stuffed in pickled cabbage leaves giving them that perfect zing the Romanian, Hungarian and Bosnian cabbage rolls have, we also had the mixed platter that came with so many meats and potatoes that we had to ask for to go boxes! Go hungry and enjoy this epic comfort food hidden gem of Houston. read more

Cafe Adel is a modern, well decorated, exceptionally clean and elegant feeling - yet casual, dining experience. The Bosnian food is authentic, hearty and delicious. The Bosnian music, by famous Dino Merlin, adds to the atmosphere without being overbearing. Even my mom loved the Burek (think beef pie in a spiral roll) so much that she told the chef it was as good as hers. The Cevapcici (beef sausages) were fantastic - be sure to ask for a side of ajvar (pepper and eggplant Bosnian salsa) for dipping. The lamb shank was fall off the bone and too big to enjoy in one sitting. The stuffed plje read more

Dear Foodie readers, comfort food is what you will find here, and not just that, it is excellent. We have been wanting to try it since it opened, and we finally made it happen...server and owner were extremely warm and friendly....you feel you are at his home, eating a meal he prepared just for you...we started with the the homemade cream cheese and bread...it was fabulous, and the bread was so warm and soft...we devoured it in minutes...I had the lamb shank with rice and side salad...oh boy it was so tender and tasty, just mmm mmm good. My kids loved their food as well, one got the goulash, and the other the beef sandwich....they both enjoyed them both immensely, they kept saying, "what took us so long to try it"...it's literally around the block....well sometimes you take for granted what is right around you....we can't wait to head back! read more
