Friendly, quick, priced right, tastes great- perfect combination. It's small, so we had to wait a couple of minutes, but not a problem in the least. Super friendly service too! The food here is really good if you want a good Southern or home-cooked meal this is the place to go. I am a sucker for the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes and gravy. It really sticks to your ribs. They have good hot homemade sopa piaz with honey. The only thing is they do not stay open after 3pmwhen you drive by and it's after 3pm it looks closed but if your have time on a Saturday morning or Sunday morning come and join them for breakfast you will not be disappointed. read more

Perfect little cafe! I've lived close by and just noticed the restaurant one day on my way home. I don't know how I missed it??? Parking was good, I brought my grandfather who uses a walker and he had no problem getting inside. We arrived and found a booth immediately in the corner. Our waitress was very sweet and friendly and answered any questions we had. Meal prices were very affordable. I had the huevos rancheros, Christmas style (both red and green chile) and it was amazing!! I will definitely be bringing my family back to dine. The place did not look like much when we first walked in. It was our first day in Albuquerque and we found it by accident. We're just hungry and said the next place we see to eat we will stop. We were the only people there but it was cleaned. The waitress was very sweet and took our order and explain some of the things on the menu to us. The food was fast and very hot when it came out. A good deal of food for the money. It wasn't as hot and spicy as I would have liked it but it was good. As I said the place was clean and I did look in the kitchen on the way to the bathroom. The kitchen was very clean and I appreciate that in a good restaurant. Is a place I would go to again but wouldn't drive out of my way. read more

Small joint on Central. Notable only because a scene from Breaking Bad was filmed here. I've eaten here a couple times just because I'm a fan of BB. I can't really recommend the food. I had the T-bone steak. I ordered it medium rare and it came out tasteless and well done. The mash potatoes that came with it tasted like powdered mash. I think this joint might be good for breakfast, as it's hard to screw up eggs and bacon. It certainly has the authentic Route 66 vibe to it. It will do in a pinch. read more

We both know that little hole in the wall restaurants are sometimes the best. And we were not wrong on this one! The service was exceptional! The bathroom was the cleanest I've ever seen! The food was absolutely delicious. We are both on a keto lifestyle, otherwise I would've gotten the sopapillas or tortillas or huevos rancheros for sure! However, My husband ordered a sausage and cheese omelette with a side order of bacon and I had two eggs over hard with bacon, Sliced tomatoes and an order of guacamole which was D- licious. Cute little cafe, surprisingly packed. Waited only a short time for our table. The waitresses were sweet and clearly working very hard. The food came out quickly and was outstandingly delicious. I dont know if I can stress enough how AMAZING the food was! The best huevos rancheros I've ever had and a fantastic chicken fried steak and eggs. The tortillas were clearly freshly made and equally awesome. Also- don't forget to grab a side of sopapillas! They were so crazy good. The prices are also very inexpensive for the quality of food you're getting. We got two full meals and a side of sopapillas for less than $20. On the west side on old Route 66 about a mile south of Interstate 40. Good for a quick meal, great prices, quick service, locals eat here, everyone is smiling, this place has a lot going for it. I doesn't look like much from the outside, in fact it looks a bit time worn. Inside it's clean but could use some sprucing up. The upholstery in the booths is well worn and patched together with duct tape. If you can overlook that in favor of a good meal then you will enjoy yourself. Mostly Mexican (New Mexican) food, but burgers and salads are available as well. read more

Old fashioned restaurant located on Central Ave. It's tucked away and not very noticeable so make sure you keep an eye out for it. Loved the feeling of being welcomed and was able to image that this was how it looked many years ago. We were promptly seated and our order was taken quickly. My New Mexican mother would have been kicked out of the family if she opened a can of refried beans and served them with our New Mexican food. New Mexicans don't refry beans. There are lots of fancy, hipstery breakfast places out there that will happily charge you $15 for pancakes, eggs and coffee. Cafe 66 is not one of those places. It is a no-frills, classic diner that cops, firefighters and locals go to grab a hearty bite to eat for not a lot of money. You can easily get a good breakfast for two for under $20. The owner Hector is a great guy and should be full of content considering his little restaurant is a success. When the location reopened, it was a local sensation and sometimes still is. It is most of the time packed Sunday after church or weekday mornings before work. No doubt great breakfast joint. Although, some of the new waitresses don't have that people person feel and leave the more experienced waitresses to pick up after them. So I would recommend this place overall, but I don't go as often as I used. Being a local of the area grows a little. No doubt about the food quality or obvious cleanliness. I really wanted to try this place for quite some time now. I called today to see if they could send me a menu to do a take-out order, even just a picture texted, however a man that answered said "we don't have a fax" and when I asked if they could send it via picture text he passed the phone to a girl, Natalie who shut down both requests and hung up on me before I could even ask if they had a basic breakfast burrito I could order and pick up. I called right back to attempt again and someone, I am assuming Natalie, picked up and hung up on me again with no words. I called again because by now i am totally irritated and don't deserve this and the man answers again... I tell him, Natalie hung up on me twice and he tells me, "no you hung up on her, hold on" and passes the phone to her again. I asked for a manager and she said he wasn't there and would return tomorrow and I could call him then, I asked for her name and the managers and she gave them and hung up on me AGAIN!!!! Very sad that I will NEVER try this place after all. BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE goes a LOOOOOOONG way. Hopefully the owner or manager does something about the staff to avoid losing more customers who were anxious to try this place. Seriously wanted to try this place for years! So bummed!! read more
