Stopped in at 5pm for dinner and the place was pretty empty. I'm not sure if there was a restock of the salad area going on, or a lot of mobile orders, but the area behind the salad bar prep area was in disarray and unorganized. I ordered a chicken pesto sandwich, which was almost turned into a chicken bacon avocado sandwich. I also had the golden curry soup, which was ok, but had a porridge texture vs a soup. My son had the lobster bisque and that's always a good choice. The drink area which once had fresh lemonades and teas with lots of flavor syrups has been reduced to one soda machine and chilled hot chocolate? The syrups were all empty and the trash / dish return area that's right next to the soda machine was overflowing with dirty plates, coated with food from hours before. This place has completely gone downhill and honestly feels like it's being run into the ground. You spend $50+ on food and they're serving salads with maybe 2 ounces of chicken on them. When I pointed it out, the response was basically that I'd have to pay extra to get a normal portion. That's absurd for what they charge. The condition of the restaurant is just as bad. The walls have looked patchy, unfinished, and run down for well over a year like the place is stuck in a permanent half-remodel. What's worse is reading through the reviews and seeing the same complaints over and over again. Management responds with the same copy-and-paste line about "passing it along to the team" and "taking concerns seriously." Clearly nothing is actually being done. At this point it feels like they're just hoping people stop complaining. Instead of the canned responses, how about giving customers a real timeline for when this restaurant will actually be fixed? This place is a mess. They have been in the middle of a renovation for at least a year, they have spackled over some of the art on the walls and now it just sits there patched and waiting for something - anything - to happen. I keep thinking the next time I go in, it'll be better, but after a year I am doubtful. I don't love them menu, but I've found a go to salad that I enjoy and go back because the kids LOVE it. I'm certain it's because of the chocolate covered strawberry. The lunch crew is friendly and efficient and generally an ok experience, but we tried for dinner recently and it was terrible. I have noticed the past few visits there is a girl named Dani who claims to be a manager and is always very rude, rushes me through my order and the line and I have observed her disrespecting her staff right in front of customers. The furry cherry on the top is the soda fountain area. Absolutely disgusting! Mold growth in the water drain. Brown, dirty fountain spouts. EVERYTHING in this place is covered with fingerprints. Some of the walls have drywall patching. If the place is undergoing renovations, then close and do it. Don't stay open and avoid cleaning. Ordered a half sandwich and soup on the app and it took well over 30 mins to get. We saw customers come and go with their orders while the take out associate moved slower than molasses. Best Cafe Zupas in the world! I been to about 4 different locations, this one takes the cake! (Arrowhead one is a madhouse if you ask me just because how packed it gets). The Happy Valley location had great hospitality as soon as I walked in. Evan gave me two of the samples of the soup to try and even gave his personal feedback which I appreciated. Tatum took my order at the start of the line and went smoothly. Great pour with the soup and the TBA were perfect to dip it in. I've never had good experiences when I go to various locations. I went for lunch today and was surprised at how clean the store was and how friendly the staff were. I got a pick 2, Caesar salad and soup. I saw on the website you can do half and half for soup so when I asked for half lobster and half cauli, I got a whole serving of lobster with literally a splash of cauli. Very weird. Love the food, staff and environment.... Have been to several locations and all have been great. Main locations I've been to are Norterra on Happy Valley, Glendale on Bell and Scottsdale in Desert Ridge. Always have leftovers, always tastes great, staff always go above and beyond. I've done some-in, take out and delivery and all great experiences. I would suggest they start selling the Rice Krispies without chocolate too as I believe it would rack in more sales, especially for kids (surgery but not overloaded with chocolate lol) read more

But it came to my attention when I headed down the line to be cashed out that an older female employee I believe could've been a manger, wearing glasses, bigger, and brown hair had her front lower area exposed. We usually have good experiences here, however, this most recent order was absolutely incorrect. We ordered a power bowl but everything in the bowl was wrong - apparently they "ran out of the ingredients" and we were still charged full price even though this isn't what we ordered. We also ordered a build your own bowl with poppy seed dressing but they were out of the poppy seed dressing so put a random cup of balsamic in there. Fast & fresh salads done in a 'Chipotle' style ordering. You watch them put your order together in front of you, pay and then either sit down or take it to go. The chipotle salad is very good. They also do soups and sandwiches and you have an option to do 1/2 salad with one of those or a whole salad which is a nice option to have. Food is always delicious, customer service is great. The ordering/food preparation system is trash! They take your order, then you have to repeat that same order, Every Time!! All the way down the line. The employees are always confused like it's their first day and when you get down to pay, they just have to go over your order once more even though it's written on the container. I've been going to Zupas for years now as their one of my favorite spots to grab a quick lunch, their lobster bisque is my favorite and you can't get it anywhere else but I won't be returning. I overheard someone named John make racist and offensive comments about specifically Asian people, making fun of the way that they speak. I love this cafe zupas!! The food is always so fresh and delicious. I always go for the cauliflower soup but today I tried the Chris (tomato and cauliflower) and I loved it. They also have a new veggie sandwich for vegetarians, I loved it! I was helped by Bryce and she was really sweet and awesome, the service was quick as it always is and friendly on top of that. I come here and eat by myself sometimes and I don't even mind because I feel comfortable and it's always nice and clean inside the store. I was here for late dinner and wanted to try something healthy. It's close to where I was staying, so it worked out that way. The location looks like it was very busy. We were on the tail end of the dinner rush, and there were tables that weren't cleared, but that's understandable. Having not been here, I did ask for some recommendations, and ordered a berry mango salad. The counter person was nice enough to add extra arugula when I asked. The salad came in a large bowl and was quite filling. The salad itself was made on the spot. The ingredients were fresh and crew members were refilling their stations with fresh items. And the order did come with chocolate covered strawberries, which were nice, and I gave them to my friend who was dining with me and has a sweet tooth.
