Had dinner on a Saturday night. We got there around 6 pm and the crowd thinned by 6:30. I was worried that maybe the food wasn't good. We (3 of us) were very happy with our food. I shared a seafood platter with my sister that had fried oysters, scallops, cod, shrimp and clams. It was very good. The wait staff was very nice. They seem to all help each other out. We would definitely go back to eat here. I think they're much busy during the spring and summer. read more

We were staying in Eureka in the middle of a west coast road trip. The food was good and the service top notch. To be honest, there aren't a lot of great restaurant options in Eureka. However, of all the options this one was the best. The restaurant has a nice open room with a long bar, and huge picture windows toward the water; so lots of light. It has a nice, hometown feel to it as the servers are very gracious and they have the specials on a white board in the dining room. They erase the specials as they run out throughout the night. (I snagged the last piece of salmon, much to the chagrin of the guy next to me.) As mentioned above, the feel of this place is very welcoming and the food is solid. Not fantastic, but solid. This was a fantastic restaurant! Our service was excellent as well as the food. My husband had the clam chowder and pork and I had a salad and seafood platter. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The prices were reasonable and the portions were large as well. We couldn't finish our meals. We were looking for a good place to have fish - hard to find one, even by the water, but we struck gold with this one!! We were super hungry, too!! The staff was friendly, place was nice looking. This place is a total let down. Really not sure why it has received such high reviews. The staff here is very rude!!!! If you want to sit in a restaurant with a nice view and be ignored for 40 minutes be my guest. My husband finally just put a five on the table to pay for our soft drinks and we left. Pretty sure non of the six staff members noticed. Another patron asked me if we were walking out and got up and followed us out. All I have to say is Amaaaaaazing. We split the clam chowder which was the BEST I've ever had!!! Oh my goodness! We also ordered the Bacon, Tomato & Avocado Omlette and added mushrooms. It came with a fluffy, house-made biscuit and potatoes that were to die for. Literally everything we ate was just so rich, perfectly seasoned and delicious. This is a charming stop that's located in a former brothel. It boasts live Jazz at times and has great oysters. Yum! In keeping with their historic theme, they can throw down a mean Hangtown Fry. OK, I have saved several reviews of various local restaurants that I have been to over the last month and a half (had visitors and have been unable to Yelp my reviews - until now). We were here last Sunday for breakfast. Usually breakfast is pretty good on Sundays (ORDER THE COFFEE CAKE - only available on Sunday). I had a spinach omelet...I liked what I had. My husband ordered a Denver omelet - he did NOT like his. No flavor. He had to add Weitchpec Green sauce for more flavor. I like Sundays at the WF Cafe - live jazz music. However, even though I called for a reserved table, when we got there they wanted to seat us next to the door! I asked to be moved to a window seat (as all 3 were open) and the waitress said "You pick"...Well, after I chose the middle table (there we 4 of us), the busgirl asked my husband to make sure we were done within an hours time as she needed the table for a set-up of a party of 6. I thought that was a little rude. Nevertheless, I will go back and try it again. I like the atmosphere at WF on Sundays. read more

Came here on Sunday for brunch.... it was kind of rainy and gloomy. I love it! The setting was perfect, the food was great, and there was lie Jazz playing! What could be better?! I really like the location and the comfortable interior of Cafe Waterfront. Unfortunately, it stops there. I order pork loin and applesauce but arrived with no applesauce. Find out they're out. Would have been nice to know up front. Saw our indifferent waitress once and then a struggle to get any response. Other food was OK but not memorable. If the service was better, this place could easily make 5 stars given its location. But, as with many Eureka restaurants, it seems table service has fallen by the wayside. read more

I wish you could rate food and service separately. Food was excellent, 5 stars yes! Service doesn't even deserve a star. We went for breakfast on a Sunday morning around 10am, there was a 20 min wait, which was fine, we expected that for a holiday weekend. Once we were seated, we were not given menus, water, coffee (standard-when seated at a restaurant) After 10 min, we started the timer on our phone to see how long this was going to take to get a menu (we tried waving waitresses down, but they ignored) Finally 17 min in, the hostess came to us and gave menus and we asked for coffee AND water. All she brought us was coffee. At 20 min in, a waitress showed up and said "what do you want", no apology for being over looked on a busy morning. We ordered, and received our food at 50 min. During this time we noticed all the tables around us, had eaten and paid, most of which were seated after us. We enjoyed breakfast and the view, but then we needed our bill. After waiting for the bill, we saw the waitress chatting with her friend who was dining close to us. We asked for the bill and received an eye roll. So she received $0.01 in tip. We will not be returning....... IF the waitress, had just apologized and acknowledged us she would have received a great tip. read more

Really yummy fish! I had fish and chips and my husband had the fish sandwich and the chowder. We were very happy with portions and how delicious the fish was here. The atmosphere is great. There are gorgeous murals, and the service is great. It was a great stop on our honeymoon. read more

They were very accommodating and had no problem adding avocado to his sandwich and also bring out some fruit and some fries to keep him happy while we waited for our food. Location is great and then it starts to go down hill. They have you enter in a very congested area next to the kitchen instead of the main double doors. After being seated our appetizers came out fast and then things got slow. Or I should say stopped. Food was no longer leaving the kitchen. There were ten occupied tables and we could see eight orders up in the kitchen. After 45 minutes of being told our order was next we asked for our bill for what we had eaten and we left. Great service and if they would have had the oysters I was after (Valentines Day was big for them I guess), it would have been fantastic probably. My waiter, Brian, was great and gave me an oyster shooter instead, which was probably one of the best I've had. You get one chance to make a first impression and let's just say it wasn't good. We arrived at 4:05 PM. Looked at the menus outside. The lunch menu goes until 4:30PM. Saw the other reviews and ratings and was surprised that this place went well above and beyond my expectations. Went in for dinner and got a dozen oysters, which were really fresh and had just been caught that day. I got the Cajun Grilled Platter which had Calimari, Snapper, and Prawns with rice pilaf and vegetables. The vegetables were a bit too plain but everything else was great. The fish was very fresh, the service was good. We sat at the bar and the Bartender(Manager?) talked to my friends and I for a bit and was very friendly. My friends got the halibut and the shrimp scampi which were both also very good. Scampi won as the best dish out of the three entrees that we got. Everyone was pleasantly surprised, the only complaint was really the steamed vegetables but even then the entrees and appetizers definitely made up for it. Seafood was on par with comparable places you'd find in SF. and the price was pretty reasonable. Will come again next time I'm in the area! read more

The prices are way to high. We had halibut it was good but portion small for the price. I had the spicy bisque and it was way over seasoned with Mexican seasoning, it wasn't spicy hot at all. It was so bad I couldn't eat it nor taste any shrimp. It should have been called Mexican bisque. Hubby liked the clam chowder. read more

Hubby and I shared 'Seafood Platter for 2' and it was fantastic! There was a ton of fresh seafood (fish, clam strips, scallops, oysters) and fries... even took home leftovers. Visiting from out of town, took my husband there for lunch and expected great seafood. Fast and courteous service, seated in the middle of the room with a great view of the bay, live music was just starting. Ordered clams and broth was very good, but it was covered in ALOT of raw garlic (I wouldn't have minded so much if garlic was grilled or cooked a bit, but it was chopped and tossed on top - too strong for me, and there was ALOT of it). My husband ordered breaded and fried oysters and clam chowder. We've had our share in the past, and both these dishes were extremely fishy tasting (not sure if it's because it's local and that's the way they smell?). Chowder was very plain. We didn't finish both dishes. Overall, it was an ok experience, customer service was good and ambiance is lively and the music was great. But as for the seafood, I don't recommend. read more
