My order: cortado The Review: The positive first--Café Saint Germain is pretty cute inside and is conveniently located near Inman Square. The person who made my drink was really nice. The rest of the review--at over $6 for a cortado, plus tip, I was almost at $7 for one of the simplest espresso drinks. Absolute insanity, considering their specialty is not so much coffee, but rather food and pastries. They also didn't have any GF options in their pastry case. If I'm dying for a coffee, I'd stop here, but otherwise would rather visit one of the several other specialty roasters in the area!

This cozy French style spot was perfect for a girls dinner! Their unlimited French tapas deal was worth it at $42/pp. We tried sooo many tapas and ordered seconds of our faves. The mushroom croquettes were delicious!! They tasted like a vegetarian French version of mozzarella sticks. Also loved the salmon ceviche and poutine fries. Spent over 2 hours here yapping, drinking, & eating, was a lovely night!

I was up here visiting in Cambridge and came across this cafe! It feels like a French cafe in the style and ambience! The service was very quick and they have a fresh selection of baked goods and hot foods. We ordered a ham and cheese baguette and I got a mocha latte. It was so good!!

Casual French dining- bistro/cafe. Good selection of pastries - the almond croissant was decent, as was the cappucino, but nothing too earth-shattering. I got the Salad Nicoise - was pleasantly surprised that it came with sushi-grade seared tuna. The dressing was just okay though, I wanted to like it more. We sat outside on the sidewalk, service was a little spotty (server brought our food out but forgot utensils so after waiting a few minutes I ended up going to the counter to ask for them). But this is a really cute cafe, and I'd love to come back and try their other offerings.

I really enjoyed the food and vibes there! We went there for the unlimited french tapas and we got to try out most of the tapas (mostly delicious! really recommend the mushroom croquettes!) We ordered a bottle of wine and really enjoyed the food while chatting for about 2 hours! The service was good too. She made sure we needed everything :))

I visited Cafe St. Germaine in Somerville on Beacon Street and discovered it to be a wonderful addition to my neighborhood. They offer $1.00 Oysters from 4-6 p.m., and I hope this deal lasts a long time because they were very fresh. For my meal, I tried the delicious SOUPE A L'ONION GRATINÉE priced at $14, followed by the BŒUF BOURGUIGNON priced at $36, which consisted of Red Wine Braised Boneless Beef Short Ribs, Mashed Potatoes, Carrots & Pearl Onions. While the dish was nicely presented and tasty, I would recommend making the short ribs more tender and flavorful with extra sauce. On Mondays and Tuesdays, they offer all you can eat Tapas with a wide selection for $38.00. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Lastly, I would suggest adding bar seats with backs for added comfort.

The PRB Boulangerie remodeled and has opened as a lovely French bistro / cafe. The interior is attractive, with a bistro feel. And the menu features a lot of classic French dishes. We had the saumon fumee appetizer, and coq au vin and black truffle rigatoni as entrees. Everything tasted great--the chicken was flavorful, the rigatoni sauce was rich and had nice umami, without being too much. And we finished out the meal with their crème brulee. The service was attentive and friendly, with the meal served at a gentle pace that felt just right. (Beautiful plating as well!)

Super cute decor and ambiance! The espresso martinis are good and they have unique flavors - chai, salted caramel, etc. They were able to make these decaf. I was super excited to try the truffle pasta but the online menu hadn't been updated so I went with the pesto pasta (only vegetarian option). The burratini in it was a nice touch to elevate the dish. The restaurant is still working out its kinks with service. I'd come back for the espresso martini deal, but not sure about sit down dinner again.

Looking for something good to eat and we happened upon this place within walking distance of our hotel. The menu was mysterious online and didn't really represent what we stumbled into that night. We show up and speak to who I believe to be the hostess. We had some nice small talk while we were heading to the table. Half way there she asked where we were from and we told her "the most beautiful land in the world, Memphis, Memphis, Memphis, Memphis". IFKYK. She was like, "no way". Yes way, I say. She then tells us she lived in Memphis for a long time and this place is modeled after a place she waited tables at while she lived there. Turns out she was the owner. I asked what it was and lo and behold she says one of my favorite places in our delightful town. Flight. I then put two and two together and realize why the menu was so hard for me to understand online. It's just like Flight. You can get a made "flight" of foods or drinks or you can build your own flight of food from all of the choices. Now I'm stoked. I love Flight! I had a nice IPA and C had a nice fancy drink too. We both had soups to start. They were pretty good. We both had a flight each after our apps. Food was good, not great. Portions were insane. We probably left half of it there. It felt like such a waste. Had I known that it was going to be so much, I would have ordered a single dish. Each one seemed like a good sized meal in my opinion. My favorite things were the lamb chops and the grit cake that came with one of my dishes. I poked around at the others some but all of these. C's pot pie was interesting with a chicken tender shoved in it. I didn't care of her other two dishes. The Beef Wellington was fair at best. We skipped dessert as we were so damned full already. Nice place, great ownership, I wish the food was better. Very nice steak knife I will add. That means a lot and pushed the star up one. That may sound strange but I don't care. 26 - 65

I've also never had anyone tell us they do not like the restaurant once they try our recommendation. It's a small, cozy, dimly lit restaurant located at a corner near MGH. Street parking may be tough but there are garages around. The hospital garage may be a bit pricey; I believe the restaurant can validate for another garage nearby. Our must order items from the menu include seared foie gras (5/5), duck magret a l'Orange (5/5), escargot (5/5), french onion soup (5/5, and steak tartare (4/5). I love using their bread to dip with the escargot and eat with the foie gras as they do not come with carbs. During my last visit, I tried the boneless short ribs Bourguignon, I felt like it was a bit dry. I loved the potato croquette that came with the dish though, creamy on the inside with a crispy exterior. The meat did not fall off and melt, maybe it was just that one day. I will stick to ordering duck as my entree as it has never failed us and the cook and flavors are also supreme. Creme brulee is always great to end the meal! Service is alway is great, every server we've had were always attentive. We were given free champagne one year when we told them it was our anniversary too! Definitely a restaurant I will always recommend and visit every now and then.

There were very few redeeming aspects to the meal, and we left feeling both disrespected and unsatisfied as customers. The issues started right away. We ordered drinks--including a pear mocktail--but were brought the wrong ones, and then they attempted to charge us for those incorrect drinks. In hindsight, the cocktail mix-up should have been a warning of what was to come. The pear mocktail itself was also quite bad. The service felt chaotic throughout the night. We asked multiple times for additional servings of steak and fries, but were largely ignored. Meanwhile, nearby large tables were repeatedly served, cleared out entire trays, and still received more attention from staff. For an all-you-can-eat steak frites offering, we each received only one serving despite several requests. As for the food itself, it did not make up for the service. The steak was just okay--some pieces were chewy and overly fatty, though acceptable if refills had actually been provided. The fries, however, were terrible. Our first serving was so hard it was nearly inedible, and the only refill we received was just as bad. I also ordered the spinach risotto, which was slightly better than the steak, but it was so salty I couldn't finish it. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning.

I got inspired by watching youtube to make a jambon buerre sandwich - supposedly a popular quick sandwich for Parisians. The sandwich is half a baguette with butter and French bistro ham. I tried searching all over for the French bistro ham with no luck. The only options were online sources with expensive shipping and/or expensive minimum order sizes. Somehow I stumbled upon MA-France nearby in Arlington and they sell jambon-buerre sandwiches. It's a small shop that sells sandwiches, pastries, and a small offering of French food products. Lots of pastries and baked goods like quiche, tarts, cookies, croissants, etc. The cheese offerings were very limited and basic. I can imagine that the cheeses that they sell are the same types and brands that they use for making sandwiches. For example, they sell President brand Brie - that you can also buy at Costco and market basket. Disappointing, but understandable because they can't afford to buy more variety and more expensive offerings without a big enough client base to buy those cheeses before they go bad. Getting back to the sandwich - it was half a baguette with some thick slices of butter and two pieces of French bistro ham. The bread was kind of dense and the crust was more chewy than crispy. I was disappointed that they didn't bother to spread the butter, but if they're not selling enough sandwiches then they're probably keeping the butter in the refrigerator - making it too difficult to spread. When I got home I fixed up the sandwich to my liking. Overall, the sandwich was okay, but not good enough to make me want to go back. At least I was able to solve my hunger for the jambon buerre sandwich.

The reviews looked good and I was excited to try their unique menu... well, let's just say we were very disappointed. First of all the prices are very expensive. I know this is Boston, but $17 for a cocktail is ridiculous! Our server was lovely, he was very kind and had a kind spirit. I was excited to try the "Rouleaux" since they remind me of the eggrolls, my mother learned from her Vietnamese mother-in-law. It was very crispy, which unfortunately is the only good thing I can say about it. The flavor was so off. It's almost as if the ingredients in the Rouleaux were loudly competing for my attention simultaneously! It didn't really melt in your mouth either, it just felt heavy. The other appetizer we ordered was called Dumplings croustillants au poet epics. This was actually worse than first appetizer. I like lemongrass, but MAN the lemongrass was so overpowering. I started to wonder... "is this how it's always made"?! I'm not even exaggerating. Overall, the atmosphere was nice - definitely pricey, and the food isn't worth the hype. Till next eats, SJ
