Cafe Rustica sandwiches are so good! I ordered the Ham & Swiss sandwich and enjoyed it so much i returned the following week and ordered it again. The toasted bread is perfectly crispy and the ham sandwich with all the toppings feels satisfying to bite into. Their staff are really friendly and welcoming, and there is decent indoor seating. This is a great neighborhood spot for super customizable breakfast or deli sandwiches with fresh, delicious ingredients! We came here around noon on a Sunday and the line to order moved pretty quickly. There was indoor seating for about 12 people, and we were able to get a table, but that might not be the case on busier days. I got the roast beef sandwich with mustard and all the toppings, and it came out quickly and panini-pressed. It was the perfect tasty and filling portion for brunch/early lunch! This cafe is perfect for a quick pick me up. Tables are open with a 45 min limit per customer but not sure if that's applicable when it's slow. I went there for lunch for the first time yesterday, and it was awesome! I got the ham and Swiss, and I loved it (for all sandwiches, you get to choose which toppings you'd like). It was all super fresh, and the bread was nice and crispy/toasted. All in all, an amazing sandwich. I sat outside behind the restaurant, and it was pretty & calm, and the staff were very welcoming. I used to live right down the street from this cute little cafe and decided to finally give it a try a few days before moving away! Definitely regret not stopping by sooner, it was a nice experience! The staff were very friendly and kind upon entering. There were no other customers ( I came on a weekday in the early afternoon ) but in the mornings, I know it can be a lot busier as people are grabbing breakfast and coffee. I got a sandwich and coffee, both things were made relatively quickly. I ended up taking out, but they have seats inside and outside which I'm sure would've been a pleasant experience. The food itself was great - I highly recommend ordering in person rather than on any third party food app as the prices are noticeably more expensive if you do ( I saw that the sandwich I wanted was ~$11 on the app but only ~$9 in store ). I decided to go with prosciutto and provolone and didn't regret it! It was very cleanly made and very filling for the price. The coffee I bought as well tasted really fresh and had just the right sweetness ( they asked if I wanted to adjust it before I left as well ). It's weird. They don't have a website- just a Facebook page from 6 years ago. No way to actually see their menu ahead of time. I needed to pick up sandwiches. I called at 1:00 to make sure there were actually open until 3:30 as it says on Google. They said yes. I show up at 2:30 and they tell me the kitchen is closed. Their turkey avocado is delicious. Coffee is good but I truly wish they would work through what feels like a couple of basic customer service issues. It is not that hard to create a website. read more

This place rocks my socks. It's the friendliest service and cheapest coffee/breakfast you'll find around the Porter Square area. (Note: they prefer cash, but will take credit/debit with a small 75 cent fee - still a great deal). I had the great pleasure of finding this place when searching for a breakfast sandwich one morning nearby Porter Square. This place was a great find for breakfast! It was a slowish morning - I was one of 2 or 3 customers in the cafe - but it gave me the chance to have a table for myself (they had signs up with a 45min table limit, so I'd assume the place can get pretty crowded other times of the day). Their breakfast sandwich menu was super flexible (pick bagel or croissant, pick toppings other than eggs, you get the point). I tried an egg + mushroom on croissant one day (about $6.50) and a bagel with ham + egg on my second visit (about $5.50) - both came out piping hot and were quite filling! Highly recommend for a classic egg sandwich. For coffee, I got an almond milk espresso macchiato and this ran me about $3.50 for a double shot - this is a solid dollar cheaper than any nearby location (and all of their coffees were priced like this). One thing to note, like a lot of other cafes in the area, the place isn't open on Mondays. Nestled in the Garfield Street Historic District of Somerville is the most scrumptious Italian cafe I've come across since moving to the Boston area! I came here while suffering an abysmal hangover and after exploring Mt. Auburn cemetery on an equally abysmally hot day with some friends. We were in dire need of sandwiches on fresh Italian bread-with a fresh mozz base of course; because otherwise we'd simply perish. We all got large iced teas (house made) and the Cafe Rustica Special Sandwich. This sandwich DELIVERED in terms of size, quality and taste. It was loaded with fresh mozz (thank god), tomato, basil, pesto and some added prosciutto. The bathroom is an experience. The roof is about 5'6, and is located in the "basement"? We decided to drop by Harvard before heading out of Boston. It's kind of crazy that we actually wanted to stop by a university on a vacation. We treated it like a landmark. I think that says a lot about the prestige and history of the university. When in the area we wanted to get a quick bite to eat and came across this small shop on Yelp. After reading the reviews we parked and headed in. The "People Love Us On Yelp" sticker was up...good sign! We ordered two tomato, mozzarella, prosciutto sandwiches. Yes! Devoured that thing! The bread tasted fresh and was just the right amount of crunchy. It had a delicious pesto sauce which made the bread easier to chew on. The rest of the ingredients were fresh and had the perfect amount of meat to cheese. We almost got another one to go! It's a small shop and there was a good amount of people in there.
