I hit the jackpot when Tarlan Ghavami assisted me! I told her what I had in mind (and that I was…read morealso open to her suggestions.) She spent a lot of time with me, until I found the perfect frames! Tarlan told me which frame would best complement the shape of my face and my skin/hair coloring, etc. When I asked her opinion about a specific frame, she answered honestly and explained the reason. (I totally trusted her judgment, because I loved her personal style.) Tarlan also helped me understand all the optional features, such as anti-reflective and UV protection and transition lenses with blue light... I take my eyeglass frames very seriously, because I think of them to be, by far, my most important accessory. Everyone sees them, and you wear them for at least a couple years. They reflect your personality. I know this sounds OCD, but I actually spent hours Googling "Best Eyeglass stores in LA" before I even started shopping. Then I visited at least 5 of the "top 10 eyeglass frame stores" (Lux, Hye, etc.) before l.a.Eyeworks! At the other stores, I found frames that were "just okay." The thing I love most about l.a.Eyeworks (besides working with Tarlan) is that they carry a unique selection of frames you won't find anywhere else! That sounds like a commercial advertisement. LOL. But I really mean it! And did I mention they have a parking lot at their new location?

Jose and Jordan were incredibly helpful in guiding me through my first pair of glasses. I really…read morelike the unique style and selection at l.a.Eyeworks. Great experience overall!

Got out of the exam which was solid - awesome lady doc, state of the art machines, knowledgeable assistant - and walked into the worst part of the visit. The upsell for the frames. It was pretty off putting. Directing me to the most expensive frames. Then when I picked some off the sale rack, instantly did calculations that sold me the most expensive progressives with antiglare and all the trimmings. Wrote it up and gave to me on a piece of paper like a prize. Sir? Did you not just see me at the sale rack? I asked "so anti-glare is optional right?" A. Right. Q. Okay, so remove it off please. And these progressives are the only kind you have? A. Well, no. Q. Do you have some that are less? A. Yes. Q. Well, why didn't you tell me about them? Why didn't you share options? A. Well o showed you the top tier. Sir, that's obvious! This is all while the gabbing girls are over there gabbing about everything but glasses and eyes. LOL. Get the exam here. Then take it to Warby Parker if you're a citizen who responds well to good service and an array of pricing options. A boutique spot shouldn't mean hard sells and leaving feeling taken advantage of. I wouldn't say it was a negative experience. But it certainly didn't live up to the store's name.
