Perhaps it's a sign of the times, the store is always out of 9mm and .45 ammo. Hmmmmm. Also, I purchased a 9mm handgun from them, it took forever to complete the purchase. The young man that was completing my paperwork, was more interested in his social media accounts on his phone, then selling me the handgun . He put my drivers license number in wrong, the sale went through and then the mistake was caught by another employee because they have to double check, which is a good thing. So he had me complete another form and didn't void the first application where he made a mistake. Long story short - I complained to the manager and after filling out 3 applications, the manager fixed the issue, and the purchase was finalized. What a nightmare. I was very suprised that my Delaware tags were the minority in the parking lot. Lots of NJ, MD, PA tags buying at the store. I'm guessing that some Delaware residents like myself, have started buying online. read more

Personally, I find it easier to shop on their website. It's fun to go to if you've never been, but if you are serious about hunting and fishing supplies, be prepared to not find anything you are looking for. I've been to this location three times since it has opened, and the inventory is always lacking. It seems like it is cleaned out and picked over. I was also disappointed to find that their waterfowl selection was so minimal. Being the closest store to three big waterfowl hunting states, it seems a bit confusing that they don't have much selection. They were pretty much cleaned out of goose calls. So, two stars. I'll reconsider if they start getting items in the store. read more

I've been twice to the store and both times I have left disappointed,they have very big clothing and shoe departments but thats not what I'm looking for.First visit I wanted to put my hands on a Shimano Trevela fishing rod that I was interested in purchasing,they didn't have that model.Second visit,again I was interested in actually putting hands on a few travel rods,which I should have known to call and ask first,but didn't,mistake.Pretty much every rod manufacturer makes at least 1 travel rod,some have a few options,this store caries NONE,sorry,except 1 Cabelas brand. Their rod selection is severely lacking in all categories,from all manufacturers,checked out their Diawa rod section,they literally had 6 Diawa rods and all were very light trout rods..Terrible.They are also lacking in their salt water tackle selection,I cant really understand why,they have plenty of room here for increased stock in both categories.I mentioned these issues with an employee and he was in agreement and said that he has mentioned these issues already to his managers.well they will not be seeing me again,guess I'll be driving to Bass Pro. read more

Cabelas used to be great when it was Cabelas. The buyout should have been the other way around. Cabelas should have bought out Bass Pro Shops because there is definitely a difference in how the stores are managed. I have a friend that worked in the firearms department under both owners and the quality and knowledge of the employees have went straight down the toilet. Salespeople are totally disinterested in helping buyers purchase items. I was at the store buying ammo one night and decided to watch the gun counter for 15 minutes. It became apparent that my buddy was right. Old, grumpy men just totally ignoring people that are waiting at the counter for some assistance. I personally don't know why anybody would want to buy a gun from Cabelas when there are many great private gun shops around who have extremely knowledgeable personnel that have been in the gun business a very long time. Asking any questions about basic ammo or gun characteristics is a joke. A majority of these workers have no idea about the products and barely can tell you where anything is located. Not to mention that prices are absolutely crazy. All foreign made products for double and triple the price. They have definitely bought into the Macy's 50% off sale scam. Mark everything up 200 percent and have a 50% off sale every other week so the sheeple think they are saving money. read more

I attempted to check on the availability of a youth model shotgun at this location. after 6 phone calls, being on hold for 25 minutes and being passed back and forth to different customer service employees... I never got anyone who could do a simple inventory check... I will NOT ever set foot in this store...I will spend my money at Bass Pro Shops...what a horrible waste of my time read more

Great store with good people. Was there yesterday to purchase some non-lethal self defense items that I could not buy in my home state of New Jersey, because Jersey politicians are morons. Found exactly what I wanted and an employee to explain the differences between the numerous models. I would have given the store five stars, but it is too small. Really cool store, very poor customer service. The Christiana Mall store is managed poorly, and understaffed! Over one hour wait times in the fire arms department. Tried calling the store for 5 hours straight, with no answer. Very hard to understand such a large, neat retail store can be so poorly managed! read more

If you want mediocre customer service and shitty wait times due to lazy staff come here. Complete waste of time, I waited 45 minutes to check out a gun that they had behind the counter and the store wasn't even busy had around 5 people waiting with 3 behind the counter and 2 doing nothing but leaning up against their back counter. Then when they finally got to me the employee was rude and not helpful. He said "I'm sorry to say this but we cant service you without you grabbing a ticket" which there are no signs saying that I need to grab a ticket or where the ticket holder is even placed. So again I wasted roughly an hour, standing for 45 minutes and 15 to get to this shitty store. I will never buy again from this store even if I want something other than a gun. read more

I felt like I was in a children's zoo or touristy hunting style box store for overstocks. The layout is intentionally confusing and they put the items they are trying to push all over the store. So there are vests and jackets, collector knives, and gps units scattered throughout the store in the isles. The quality of the items was decent but very expensive and almost all the tags we saw said made in china. And everything that is on sale or bargain priced is still expensive and if you wear a size S then you may be able to find something that fits on sale. But when a vest is priced at $229.99 and on sale for $169.99 I would hardly call that a bargain. And I think I overheard the salesperson saying the items in the bargain section are not returnable and sold as is. But we left without buying anything because we were overwhelmed with the selection. They tried to have a little bit of everything but not much of anything. Except for fishing rods and gear. The Cabela's stores always have tons of that type of gear. And most of the clothing is real tree camo so if you are looking for normal clothing you won't find much. read more

My only issue with the Delaware store is they seem to always be out of stock or do not stock the items I want to purchase. The Hamburg store usually has it, but it's 1 1/2 hr drive to get there. Delaware needs to better at keeping inventory in stock. read more

Love Cabela's! This one is smaller than the one in Hamburg. Since it's smaller it doesn't have as much stuff in stock but u can always order it online and pick it up in store. Lastly, TAX FREE in Delaware!!! read more

I purchased a used 12 gauge Remington 1100. Looked great on the outside. Slight water damage by the recoil pad but no big deal. Wood for the stock had not been beat up. Neither has the wood on the forearm. Receiver had zero rust pits for its age and looked great. Barrel is 30" with zero rust. Not a bad gun at all. It's chambered for 3" shells. Went to shoot it for the first time. 3" shells worked ok. 2 3/4" would not eject at all. Was told it was cleaned prior to purchase. Took the gun home. Disassembled it. That was by far the dirtiest gun I have EVER Seen in my life. Recoil spring was solid rust. It took me 3 hours to clean it. Ran 2 3/4" shells in it afterwards. Works fine. So beware. Buying used guns from them. DO NOT TAKE THERE WORD THEY WERE CLEANED. Guns that dirty should not even be on display. Lessened learned. read more

I ordered a product from them online on 12/29/15. I received an email confirming the order. A couple of days later I went online to check order status and it was "Cancelled". I called Customer Support and they said they did not have any in inventory and they do not inform the customer if they cancel the order. On 1/6/16 I saw they had the item back in inventory and priced it 25% higher. Questionable business practices. read more

I must say I was shocked due to the reputation that this company holds with my friends and family but views are changing after my recent experience. I went to this location and purchased a fire arm for my 25th birthday. Being that I am a Pennsylvania resident I had made arrangements with an associate at the gun counter to have the fire arm shipped to French creek in Phoenixvile pa. This was on 2/9/16 Tuesday around 1-2pm. I was assured it would be shipped and arrive on Friday2/12/16.Paid $25 for shipping to find out on Friday 2/12/16 that the fire arm did not arrive at French creek yet. This is where These guys screwed up...I called the store to see where my fire arm was. I was told that my fire arm never shipped due to a lack of FFL from French creek.......THATS WEIRD!! Because I personally got ahold of French creek BEFORE I purchased, at the gun counter, with an associate present, and wrote the all the information for this store to acquire the FFL on the back of my info sheet for the fire arm. I run my own business and as a general manager I understand these types of logistic issues do happen. My disappointment lies in the lack of effort from this location to get the customer satisfied. I filed a complaint with the company on Friday 2/12/16 and am still waiting to hear back I'll be asking for my shipping cost back and that this become an urgent matter to get what I paid for before Tuesday when I will be hitting the range with some friends to celebrate. read more
