What an experience!! Huge facility and an equally large parking lot. Lots of staff to assist you and the store was well stocked. Everything was neat and presentable. The centerpiece of the store is a taxidermy dream. Animals or all sorts - desert, animal, river and polar animals. There is a few aquariums with a selection of fish included some huge catfish. Along one wall, there is a display of African game animals. All the taxidermy work is very impressive. Boats, motor carts, guns, ammo, fishing gear, snorkeling, clothing, shoes and boots. I've been going to this Cabela's since they opened. I've made multiple purchases over the years and also taken classes in their conference area. Not sure why I have not visited in recently, but we went on a Saturday to buy some winter pants and maybe sunglasses. I love the easy access to Cabela's and their plentiful parking. Cabela's usually has the items I was looking for, and that was certainly the case this visit. I found the pants I wanted at a good price and was able to check out a Weber traveling grill. We stopped at the sunglasses section not really expecting to buy, but they had a great set of Ray-Ban aviator glasses I liked. Great service in the sunglasses area. She found a pair new in box, cleaned the glasses before ringing them up, and rang up my pants at the same time so I didn't have to wait at the main checkout lanes. Excellent visit overall. I'll have to visit more often. read more

I went to Cabela's hoping to see the actual handbag listed online that said it could be picked up in late afternoon the same day. Unfortunately they didn't have one. I wanted a bag with a water bottle holder on the side. However, I found a different bag at a great price that works. I also found a lightweight bucket hat that's just what I needed for sun protection. A win! read more

Good stuff at this location. Lots of glasses at the sunglass hut but no greeting or help from staff so we left that section. Lots of clothes on sale and some good hat finds for $9. Lots of dead animals but I guess that's to be expected but the big polar bear was cool. read more

I can't compare the store to other Cabela's stores, but I feel like they have a nice variety of everything. I love the fact that they have a Black Rifle Coffee section (my personable favorite coffee). I'm not a big gun person, but I feel like the options for firearms are decent with lots of accessories/ammunition for them as well. I like their outdoor section...especially the specialty chairs. I found a really nice collapsible rocking chair that I love. They have a small home decor section but a decently large cooking/kitchen section. read more

I personally preferred when Bass Pro didn't own Cabela's. I felt they had different stuff to check out. Now you can almost always find the same stuff at both stores. I've had great experiences buying firearms at this location. If I've had questions in other departments the employees have been very helpful. I feel like some of the guns in the gun library are over priced, but you can find decent deals every once in a while. read more

Cabela's is like an adventure outing to me. Sure, you can come here for a variety of outdoor activity supplies. (And they have a LOT of that.) But it's also just a fun place to wander around. I find a special sort of joy in walking through Cabela's and taking in all the stuffed animals, live fish, etc. It's just kinda cool, ok? We came to this location to specifically hunt down some camping supplies. We easily spent over an hour here just meandering and browsing. Pro-tip: They always have a good dog toy selection. I walked in to buy a gun. I knew what I wanted and stood at the counter for 10 minutes, and no one even acknowledged me. It was 1130 on a Tuesday, so they were not busy at all. 2 other people were looking at guns, and three employees were behind the counter. If you don't want to help me, I will drive 10 minutes to one of 3 different gun stores and spend my money there. I visited this Cabela's during the lunch hour. There's plenty of parking in their private lot. The entrance is clean and open. As I circled the whole store, all department areas have signs letting you know where to go. This store is well organized and well stocked for most items. The hunting section is still lagging behind with ammo as are other stores. The only complaint was no one was available to answer my question when I waited at the counter. read more

I could write a novel about the horrific experience at this store. And I almost have. Jamie, the "gun specialist" decided to write her own penal code while we were there fir the state of Nebraska. David, the "gun expert" doesn't know the differences between a Beretta1934 and a Beretta1935. Not only labeled them wrong (despite them being different calibers) but also shipped the wrong one after having the differences being pointed out to them. Shelby should never work with customers. She must be really good at something else. Unfortunately, I have no idea what. Her customer service is severely lacking. I didn't think the service could decline after Jamie and David, I really thought that was scraping the bottom of the barrel. But that Shelby absolutely showed me I was wrong!! Way to go! The only shining example of good customer service is Billy. He really should be commended for his epic customer service. I'll post an update on our AWFUL experience once the situation is resolved. But, rest assured, this store ruined our family ever shopping a Cabela's or Bass Pro Shop outside of California or Nevada. And that's saying a lot. read more

I have purchased firearms and ammunition from this location, both in stock and from third parties. I find that the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Pricing is competitive. I would not order a firearm that gets shipped from their warehouse or another store as the communication is lacking, no effective updates, no tracking by customer, it is quite open ended and takes entirely too long in this day and age. As I said, I like the staff, the only thing they need to do better is recognize the customer early on and apologize for the wait. I managed retail stores for close to three decades and I know good customer service. Thank you for your time. read more

Dog friendly outdoorsman shop that has all your adventure needs. I find it crazy how big the building actually is compared to how they use the space inside. Very surprisingly there is a little aquarium in there which is fun to stop in. The smell of candied nuts freshly roasted in glazed sugar fills the whole store and it's hard to leave without buying a bag. My wife and I went to the store to buy a gun. We waited for exactly 18 minutes at the counter for someone to help us. No service was received. We made our presence known by asking a shelf stocker to see if we can get some help twice. The store stocker went and checked in the back twice, but no help. On top of that, there was only 1 worker there, who had a conversation with another customer the whole time we were waiting, about things unrelated to his job (mostly personal). This worker was obliviously to the fact we were waiting for him. He was younger, lallygagging the whole time. What I don't get is: there seems to be extremely short-staffed or people who don't really want to do their jobs, and disappeared. According to the shelf stocker, there was more than 1 persons working, but I didn't see another worker for the entirety of 18 minutes wait time. I was a regular with Cabelas, but this experience puts a bad taste in my mouth. Please be more aware of your customers. read more

This is an enormous Cabela's! I couldn't believe the size of it - compared to the one in LaVista - it was cavernous! I made my way to the camping section and found the object of my search: a 29" waterproof duffel. Not much selection in colors - sort of a dark green and black - but adequate for my purposes. There were SO many interesting things in their camping department - it was hard to resist temptation, and there was a really funny urination funnel with the most ridiculous copy on the package which I showed to another female customer and we both shared a laugh. They had some great discounts on clothing and I even found a pair of flip flops to give my poor swollen feet a break from my Keen sandals (I guess not driving 12 hours/day would have been good, too). This store even had a HUGE dog section - I don't hunt and I don't have a dog but walking through that section just made me wish I had a dog so I could outfit him in super butch camo duds. If I had a dog, I would totally have that dog wear a backpack to carry my stuff as well as his! Asked an older gentleman who worked in the gun department if a certain brand was brass case it said metallic. He seemed annoyed at the question and treated us like we didn't know anything and said well yes everyone knows that. Sorry was just double checking. He did that to another customer who asked about .22LR ammo and said well ya gotta be here at 9 am. Really rude. Our second encounter was the same rude tone heavy sigh yikes. If you're looking to kill something, Cabela's is the place to go. About 3/4 of the store is devoted to shooting, hunting, archery and fishing. The remaining sliver is clothing, camping gear and a small section for gifts (mostly hunting and fishing related). Taking up the entire center of the store is an enormous display of stuffed deer, bear, big horn, antelope and other taxidermy. Cabela's probably has one of the largest selections of firearms in the area. They have a gun library devoted to antique and rare (and expensive) rifles and shotguns in addition to the usual fare. They also sell used guns, some at absurdly low prices, but many of them require some repair or replacement parts which make them nearly as expensive as a new gun. They have an extensive selection of ammunition as well as parts and accessories. They carry bulk ammo in certain common sizes. Trying to get some assistance in the gun department, can be extremely difficult. I've sometimes waited 15 minutes to get some help before giving up. Weekends are particularly bad. The hunting section is adjacent to the firearms area and the two are pretty much intertwined. I've never seen so many animal calls before. They also have a large stock of decoys and lures. Their selection of dog training equipment is almost as large as that of a big chain pet store. The archery section of the store is quite large, about as big as the clothing section. I've never used a bow, so I can't say much about it, but it does appear they have a large selection. Likewise, the fishing department has a tremendous selection of rods, reels, tackle and accessories. They also have boating equipment. There is a large aquarium full of bass, trout, catfish and other lake and river fish. The camping area isn't really all that impressive, it's about the same size as the camping areas at other sporting goods stores. The same goes for the clothing department. I tried to find some steel-toed boots, but they didn't have anything. There is a small section of the store devoted to gifts and toys. Most of the items are hunting or fishing related, such as lamps made from antlers or deer trophy head nightlights. They have a small "general store" with candy and other goodies. The store also has a small restaurant. I haven't eaten there yet, but their prices seem relatively reasonable, with the daily special, including a drink, generally running about $7-8. Returns are generally a big hassle, not because of the employees or any store policy, but rather the extremely long wait for service. I've spent upwards of half an hour in line just to return a small item. read more

We enjoy going here so the kids can look at the animals but the prices are high so we usually don't buy anything. Though we were in the store for 30 min today, no one asked if they could help us. We actually made a purchase and the girl who checked us out had such bad body odor it brought tears to my eyes. She asked me if she could offer my son a piece of candy (thank you for asking me first) and after I said yes she reached into a bag with her bare hand and pulled out a piece of unwrapped hard candy. Cabela's is a great resource for everything outdoors, well at least sportsman like activities (Hunting, fishing, boating, hiking) They tend to be a little pricer than other stores but you are almost guaranteed to find what you are looking for. This particular store is a bit smaller than some of their other stores, it is however still enormous compared to the average sporting good store. read more

Up until the last couple of years, Cabela's in LaVista used to be my go-to. It is close to work and the interstate. I have spent 10's of thousands of dollars there over my lifetime. They always have the fishing gear I am looking for. In most cases, all other departments of the store are great with great associates. I am also an avid shooter and reloader. I understand that parts are at a premium due to shortages, this does not mean that the staff should be less friendly. What parts they have in stock are overpriced. I now go out of my way to a local competitor to find what I need at reasonable prices with excellent customer service. The gun counter is especially rude. I spent $6,500 in one day at your competitor. I won't be back to this location. read more

This place is AMAZING. It is my type of "candy" store. They stock a lot of camouflage clothing, even camo for kids. However, what really makes this place stand out is the game/trophy displays in the middle of and throughout the store. The animal displays are really impressive and even look better than some of the ones that I've seen at Natural History Museums. I could easily spend an entire afternoon here. read more

I spent over 2 hours looking for rain/hiking gear at this location today. Not one person asked if I needed help. Not. One. After searching for help, I finally found someone in the shoe department, and was helped by a frazzled young woman who was helping several other people at the same time. I ended up spending over $500.00, because I'm under a time crunch and didn't have time to look at other stores. My husband shopped here last week and wisely left and bought his rain/hiking gear at Dicks. This is a beautiful store, with virtually no visible employees. As attractive as the store appears, it does not make up for extremely poor customer service. When I shop, I expect to be assisted by, or at least be able to locate helpful staff. One of the few staff members I encountered was giving a tour of the store to a bunch of kids. Perhaps she would have better served the public by assisting customers. My family and I will spend our money elsewhere in future, and I'd advise you to do the same. read more

I stood by the knife counter for about 20 min., then spent more time looking at knives, Gerbers, gadgets and the like. I was in this store for about an hour trying to get assistance and it wasn't even busy. Finally, I picked up a few little things and went to check out. The registers all crashed. Cash only. I left some of my things there, because I wanted to use my debit card. I've been a pretty routine shopper at Cabela's for years. Having been to Cabela's stores in Sidney, Kearney, Mitchell, and Rapid City I have a pretty good idea of the company and its stores. The La Vista store is a decent example of a Cabela's. I personally think they could have done a lot better and built a lot bigger and more special of a store for the biggest city in the company's home state, not to mention competing with Bass Pro Shops across the river. Having said that, I am an avid Cabela's shopper due to lack of other places offering the same goods and services, atmoshphere, and trying to keep money in Nebraska. Cabela's does have a good selection of just about everything. Prices are reasonable, especially when they are having a sale. Lots of stuff is overpriced, but that's because of the brands. The "Bargain Cave" has never had any bargains for me. Some of the stuff are great deals, but they are always super large sizes that no one has bought. That's why it's in the "Bargain Cave". I've also noticed they've tried to sell worn shoes that look like they were worn on a tour in the middle east. Their staff are pretty knowledgable in their areas. I usually deal with the guys in the firearms section and they know their stuff enough to make a buyer feel comfortable. I have found better prices on firearms here than online which surprised me. I mean in the $1-$200 cheaper range. Great selection of accessories also compared to any other stores in the metro. I like the inside and atmosphere or Bass Pro better to be honest, but Cabela's employees and selection beats them by far in my opinion. I'll keep shopping here due to it being close and having a large selection. read more

After a decades long relationship with Cabela's I am done. They have gone downhill rapidly since they were taken over. This store is nothing more than a bass pro shop that happens to have Cabela's name on the side of the building. No more Cabela's branded merchandise. Bargain Cave is gone. Hardly anything on sale. Especially since it is across the road from Dairy Queen. You can't beat shopping a sporting goods store while enjoying a Blizzard! I took in a backpacking pack that had a small rip just after car camping a couple times. They took it back no questions asked. One of the sales associates helped me pick out a new pack that happened to have the wrong price label. When we saw the retail, he said, "Well, we saw it for cheaper, so you can have it at that price." The difference was over $100! I live in Los Angeles and went out of my way to support a Nebraska-based business. They completely validated that decision. read more
