It's huge, and is stocked with all the outdoor stuff in all the categories, like fishing, boating, hunting, camping. Not much in the way of sporting goods, but that's not their focus. I'm currently in the store, why I keep coming back is a mystery to me. I get ignored at the gun counter because I'm in my 20s and they figure that I'm not here to spend big money. Anyway, I am here with a question that requires a yes or no answer and I keep getting skipped over by the salesmen for men in their 60s who are here to buy guns. Very unprofessional. Their prices have always been hilariously high and since I can't stand them and they were the only place in town to buy certain things I'm going online now. I went in there today to buy a speed loader, and a pair of Howard Leight shooting muffs. I knew what I wanted, and was fine with looking around to find what I was looking for on my own. On the shelf they had purple and bright yellow for the speed loader I wanted to buy. Which was not going to work for me. I went up tot he gun counter to see if they had any more in the store room. First the guy says he would have to look and check. Then he thinks better of it, and says all they have is what is out on the shelf. I still intended on buying the muffs walk up and pay for those. The chick running the register literally said nothing to me while I was completing my purchase. When it was done no "have a great day" "thanks for coming in". I left and came back 20 minutes later, and returned the muffs. I will never spend another dime in Cabela's/Bass Pro Shops after this experience. I ended up going to Scheels to buy what I needed; the same muffs were 25.00 cheaper. I also purchased a pistol there a few weeks ago. I have never been treated so poorly in any store before I went to get some new jeans and shirt on 1/26/18 and while I was shopping I realized that one of the employees was following me around mocking me. I grabbed some jeans and shirt and went to check out and when I got up to the check out counter the checkout people were staring at me and laughing. We went to Cabela's to pick up some stuff. One of the reps told me that if I signed up to be a member I could get a $20 gitcard to use towards my purchase today. He said, "It should only take 2 mins and it was FREE." Of course, getting $20 to use towards my purchase seemed appealing. However, it took way longer than 2 mins, more like 30 mins. We had to wait and wait for these gift cards that in all honesty if you are promoting membership to new customers it might be way more efficient to have these readily available. If you're looking for the worst retail shopping experience may I suggest Cabela's gun department. Went there yesterday to purchase a 22 cal rifle. Knew exactly what I wanted and was ready to roll. 45 minutes later I have not been waited on, they use a "take a number system". Finally I pushed my way to the counter and asked an employee if they had the gun I wanted in stock. "No" he said, as if I had asked him the most intrusive question on the face of the earth. "Any idea of when it will be in stock?" "No" he answered. 45 minute wait for two words. Understaffed and totally indifferent to customer service. read more

A little on the smaller side, compared to plenty of other Cabelas locations I have visited (e.g. Lacey WA, DFW), but larger than a couple I have visited. It's Cabelas, which is kind of like the Mecca for outdoorsmen/women/people, so there's not too much that a fella can complain about. Still, there's just something about this particular location that I'm just "meh" about...I can't quite place my finger on it, though. But, hey, if you're in the need for something outdoorsy, I recommend you check the La Vista Cabelas out. I also recommend you make the very short drive over to Scheel's and check it out...compare selection and prices before making a purchase. Maybe it'll be Cabelas, maybe it'll be Scheel's. I placed an order for two items (thermals and socks) via their website for mail delivery. 4 days later I received an email stating the thermals were backordered. 2 1/2 weeks later with no further communication from Cabela's and no delivery of thermals, I called them. Was informed that the entire transaction had been cancelled due to the thermals are no longer in stock. WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO TELL ME THAT CABELA'S ! Sent CS an email explaining my frustration and asking for a replacement item and all I received was an apology, stating because the thermals were backordered-they could not substitute them for anything else. POOR POOR customer service and you just lost a customer over this. read more

I was at Cabela's a couple of weeks ago with my husband - hadn't been there since the grand opening. Really enjoyed our time there, and already found some Christmas gifts. Regarding the shoe department, we found what we were looking for, and then some. The extraordinarily nice lady helping us, SUNNY, went above and beyond. And this was on a Saturday - really busy. I needed night crawlers this morning before going fishing so I stopped in here. I had my little dog with me and I did not want to leave him in the car because it was pretty cold and he is very little so I figured I would try to bring him inside. The man at the front asked me if he was a service dog and I said no. Then he told me I had to leave my dog at guest services behind the counter in one of their kennels so I did the women behind the counter was very nice I told her he might cry because he's not used to a kennel and she said she would hold him if he did. Off I went to get my night crawlers very easy to find and less than $3. I went back to the guest services to get my dog and they had let him out and he was just running around behind the counter and seemed happy to have the attention from all the employees playing with him. read more

They need to re-evaluate the price of a happy customer and understand that an un-happy customer is also a lost customer that will share negative PR to all his friends. read more

Nice store with a lot of sporting goods with heavy emphasis on Hunting, Archery, and Fishing. They are one of the best retailers around for that kind of thing. The prices are generally high unless items are on sale or Clarence but you can really find some great deals from time to time. The staff is always willing to help and the location is great and easy to get in and out of. Plenty of parking is also a plus. read more

Went to look at and purchase a $200 pocket knife yesterday. There was an employee at the knife counter helping another customer. While I was clearly looking at knives in the case, he finished up with that customer, put the knives that he was looking at back in the case, closed it and walked away without even acknowledging that I was there. I was no more than 2 feet in front of him, and it was like I didn't even exist. As a customer I shouldn't have to jump up and down and beg for service. Scheels on the other hand was more than happy to make me feel welcome and make my business feel appreciated. read more

I visited at 10am on a Thursday when everyone was at work. Store clean and staffed. I went directly to purchase my $17 item and I barely picked up the box when the sales person asked if I had their credit card. I'm rating this four stars because of this. I don't know if everyone is credit card happy in America but I just want to buy my small item and get out. I don't like being approached-if I was interested in a MasterCard I would inquire. I think it irked me so because I am asked if I want a card at every retail store I go to and by the time I got to Cabelas-it was the icing on the cake. The sales associate was kind when I declined his offer. I will start saying "Have one" from now on. They do always have what I need in stock. read more

Well after waiting in line for about 15 minutes where there were only 3 other customers, a young lady finally served me. She didn't know the difference between a lever action and a bolt action. She though 17HMR was a large caliber round. And, to cap it off, when she could find the gun I was looking for in the rack, she went on to other customers without saying anything leaving me standing there. I usually like Cabelas but this experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth. I would say, if you want to buy a gun, AVOID AT ALL COSTS unless you want to be treated like trash! read more

My son is visiting, and we went to Cabela's to look at boat motors. He asked the first salesman if they had gas boat motors, and was told no. A second salesman overheard the conversation and said there might be one or two in the back and just points to an area. My son goes and finds ALL KINDS of gas boat motors, but no one is working in the area, nothing is priced, and there is no information about the motors . My son then goes nearby where there are three employees talking and they all ignore him for several minutes; then one said, Wayne is helping someone else and he doesn't know when he will be back. He then takes my son to a cubical and gives him Wayne's card. My son then asks him for information on the Coleman gas motor and the salesman tells him he can look it up on his phone! My son then hung out another 30 minutes, and Wayne never appeared. read more

My issue lies with their failure to properly price items in the store. They use to have scanners around the store to check prices. They told me they removed them because they were always down. I was in the store last night and purchased some .223 ammo. On the way out I found they charged me more than the label on the shelf. When back in and met manager at the ammo area and he verified the box I had matched the label on the shelf but I was charged wrong at counter. $2 per box more. OK, no biggie but read on. This was the third time in as many times I've went to buy ammo. Abou 3 weeks ago I was buying some .308 and again it was priced on the shelf $2 less per than I was charged at the register. After complaining they offered to refund me my the difference but how many people don't notice. I went back to the amm area because I didn't see anyone taking action to correct the shelf label. Pulled the label off myself and put it on the counter telling them it was wrong. Then about 5 weeks before this I was buying 22 mag ammo to go shooting with my son. On the way to the range I notice, again I was overcharged for ammo versus what the store shelf label indicated. This was the first time and I didn't go back for a refund. I have photos of the shelf label and copies of receipt. When I complained to the gun department manager 12/4/12 for the .223 ammo he laughed at me. I spent a couple of hours looking through the store that evening and didn't like how many items in the store do not have prices even marked. I had to ask someone to scan prices for me. That was when I aksed about where the customer use scanners went that were mounted around the store like Target. BUYER BEWARE AND CHECK PRICES CHARGED AT REGISTER VERSUS WHAT YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO PAY. read more

As long time Cabela's customers we are severely disappointed in the La Vista location. The customer service is lacking, if you can find an employee that is... I don't know how many times now that I have been shopping in this particular location and had to assist other customers simply because there was no employee to be found. When you do find an employee they can't be bothered to answer your questions, especially in the gun library. Inventory at this store is always challenged, they are always out of the most basic of things. The bargain cave in this location is a joke. And the shoe department is pathetic. We tried for over a month to get shoes in a men's 9.5, they had NONE in stock of the particular brand my husband was wanting. When we inquired about the similar looking shoes in the Cabela's brand we were told multiple times by multiple employees that they would never buy or recommend Cabela's brand shoes. When we did speak with management about the service received even the manager was rude & didn't seem to have the time of day to meet the customer's needs. Having been to many different Cabela's locations in the past few years we have certainly had better experience and service. This location could seriously use an overhaul & some customer service training. read more

I have no plans to do business here again. Stopped at a Cabela's in Idaho and had an antique rifle shipped to the La Vista store. When I went to pick up the rifle they wanted to charge me an increased price. In Idaho the rifle was on sale for $100 less than the "listed" price. I had to argue and ask that they call the Idaho store to confirm the price. I asked why I would have an antique rifle shipped in and then pay more for it. I was treated like a liar and it was a humiliating experience. When I again insisted they call the Idaho store they agreed to honor the actual price. Then they acted like they were doing me a favor. I will NEVER do business with these people again. Buying an antique rifle should not include humiliation and being treated like a thief. read more

I was very disapointed in the customer service and archery dept. I called in to ask about a mechanical release and I was told it was in stock. After driving 2+hrs to pick it up I found they didn't have one. So, I special ordered one and after 2 months of waiting I called in and found nothing was ordered. I spent 40min walking around the archery dept to find things and then another 30 standing next to the desk waiting to be helped. I guess I needed to be white 45yr old male to get anyone to take me serious about spending some serious coin. The store sure looks pretty though. read more

I love outdoor stores and used to like Cabellas a lot. I love the location since it is very accessible from where I live and off the interstate. I do not like the lack of servcie staff to assist me when I am looking at items. I was in there to buy some ammo and possibly a gun. Having a hard time getting adequate assistance we went looking at bows/arrows. We had a hard time locating help and found someone in the boating section who was less than helpful. As with any chain store that is too big for its britches, the prices are way too pricey. Go to Dicks or a smaller sporting goods store and save your money. We could have spent up to $2500 on multiple items including camping gear, kayak, gun, ammo, etc. We bought some camo shirts and decided to leave after wasting 90 minutes here. Still fun to wander around and look at all the items. read more

This review discusses Cabela's customer service. I ordered a product that needed to be shipped by freight and the freight company's performance as abysmal. I contacted Cabela's customer service and their help is an example of the best customer service I've ever experienced. They contacted the freight company who offered several different excuses and finally admitted they had lost the shipment. Between Kelly and Debby at Cabela's customer service, they worked steadily on the tacking and finally discovered the core issue; the freight company's incompetence. Each step in the process the kept me informed and finally obtained a replacement for the shipment at no charge to me. Now the new shipment is on the way. Unfortunately they have to use the same freight company, but Debby has been calling to give me tracking information as the product moves toward delivery. An outstanding job of friendly, caring and competent customer service. I have never experienced better service. read more

My review is colored a bit by my feeling against the gun culture and the NRA. I have no issue with gun owners and think the NRA has done some good things but, as a corporation Cabela's is totally in bed with them. I was in this store a couple years ago and bought a household gift for someone, not a firearm or anything hunting related. Within a few weeks I was getting calls from the NRA, including robo calls about Obama using UN troops to seize guns, nut stuff like that. I also got agressive personal calls from NRA people and when I told them my feelings they got angry and were yelling at me. Traced it back to Cabela's, their customer service rep admitted they pass on customer info to them and to other 'pro hunting' groups. You can choose to opt out but they never tell you that when asking for your email and phone number at checkout. I used to enjoy going in there and looking around, since then I have never entered any of their stores. read more

I would give ZERO stars if I could. I ordered stuff from Cabela's on Sunday. Here it is Wednesday and it hasn't even shipped yet. I bought $30 worth of extra stuff so I could get their deal for 3-6 day shipping - so that I would get my items before I left on a fishing trip next Tuesday. I called customer service and I was told that there is nothing they can do to expedite the shipping for me - even though it hasn't even left their warehouse yet. Baloney. I was also told I could not cancel my order - even though it hadn't even left the building. Basically they screwed me over and there is nothing I can do about it. I will not get my items on time and I will not be able to get a refund so that I can reorder the supplies from a vendor that isn't totally inept. I am super furious, and you can be darn sure I will NEVER order from Cabela's again. EVER. And I am definitely passing the word along to all of my friends that I was treated so badly by the company. I have never been stonewalled so hard by anyone - especially when the order is STILL IN THE BUILDING. Unacceptable. read more
