2 Stars - Scheels is great overall, but not for hockey…read more Scheels is a great store for a lot of sporting goods, but if you're looking for hockey equipment, I would honestly recommend going somewhere else. My son recently started getting into hockey, and we went there hoping to get some help with skates and gear. Unfortunately, it was clear pretty quickly that the hockey department just doesn't have staff with much hockey knowledge. Whether it was skates, sticks, or general equipment questions, there really wasn't anyone who seemed confident or experienced enough to help. The most frustrating experience was when we purchased skates and were told they had been sharpened by the Scheels staff. After my son had a very negative experience on the ice, we took the skates to a rink, and the staff there confirmed the blades had not actually been sharpened. That kind of thing makes a big difference, especially when someone is just starting the sport. If you're serious about hockey equipment, save yourself the frustration and go somewhere that specializes in it. Prices are very competitive elsewhere, and the staff actually care and know what they're doing. Pure Hockey on 72nd is absolutely worth the trip. Scheels does a lot of things well, but hockey just doesn't seem to be one of them.

They were able to service our bikes in a real timely manner and to our liking. We did have an issue with the back brake on a bike and had to take it back and it was a slight oversight but they quickly corrected and my husband got a tshirt out of it so I think he's extremely happy, he hasn't really taken it off since. After searching around the store for a while, Rick came over to help us, and I'm incredibly glad he did. Rick was remarkably patient and genuinely committed to helping us find the right fit. My daughter tried on nearly a dozen different pairs of cleats, and Rick stayed with us through the entire process without ever making us feel rushed or pressured. Anyone who has shopped for kids' cleats knows how frustrating it can get, but Rick handled everything with professionalism and kindness. After two days of searching at different places, Rick was the one who helped us finally find a pair that fit well and worked for her wide feet. The price was very competitive as well! What impressed me most was how comfortable he made the experience for my daughter. She never felt embarrassed or pressured, and Rick treated the whole situation with patience and encouragement. That kind of service is rare. Rick was absolutely fantastic. I wish more retail employees had the tolerance, patience, and customer care he showed us. They do have some spare shoes available to rent, if you're not prepared. Staff are friendly & gave us a quick demonstration on how to throw an axe. Everyone Must stay out of the cage area when someone is throwing an axe. Very smart because the axe can fly back after hitting the target & missing! They have table tops with chairs lined up outside the cage to sit & watch, talk & have a drink or snacks. I was pleasantly surprised how fun this is. We will definitely be back!!!

I entered the store with an unloaded shotgun since they are listed in Google as a gun repair shop. I was approached at the door in a very flipped manner. When I inquired about a gunsmith to repair the firearm I was met in a very hostile manner telling me that we don't have those parts here and we don't service guns.
