2 Stars - Scheels is great overall, but not for hockey…read more Scheels is a great store for a lot of sporting goods, but if you're looking for hockey equipment, I would honestly recommend going somewhere else. My son recently started getting into hockey, and we went there hoping to get some help with skates and gear. Unfortunately, it was clear pretty quickly that the hockey department just doesn't have staff with much hockey knowledge. Whether it was skates, sticks, or general equipment questions, there really wasn't anyone who seemed confident or experienced enough to help. The most frustrating experience was when we purchased skates and were told they had been sharpened by the Scheels staff. After my son had a very negative experience on the ice, we took the skates to a rink, and the staff there confirmed the blades had not actually been sharpened. That kind of thing makes a big difference, especially when someone is just starting the sport. If you're serious about hockey equipment, save yourself the frustration and go somewhere that specializes in it. Prices are very competitive elsewhere, and the staff actually care and know what they're doing. Pure Hockey on 72nd is absolutely worth the trip. Scheels does a lot of things well, but hockey just doesn't seem to be one of them.

The team does a great job greeting you and making you feel welcome. Whether I'm in the shoe, golf, or clothing sections, there's always someone available and ready to help. Even as we head into the busy holiday season with more shoppers than usual, the clothing displays remain in great shape, making it easy to find my size. Just wanted to give a shoutout as this is one of the many reasons I keep coming back to shop here. Keep up the great work!

Located on the main floor of Oakview near the escalators, Champs Sports is your typical mall store…read moreselling sporty shoes and other gear. It's full of Nikes, Adidas, Air Jordans, etc. Plus sporty accessories like backpacks, sweat pants, jerseys, et al. I found a nice pair of Nikes on sale for only $50. The employees working were friendly and I was able to try on the shoes and purchase them in under 10 minutes. Not bad! Next time I need some cross trainers, I'll keep Champs in mind.

So I go to them with a $200 pair of LeBrons. Here's how it went: Q: Can I get these in a 10.5 for my son? A: We only have 10s. My response: Let's try 10s then. Can we try them on? A: The display is a 10. You can try that one on. At this point, I'm thinking to myself, why the hell would I only try one shoe on? But I try to stay calm in front of my son as I'm ready to slap this lazy person upside the head. We try the shoe on. It fits! So she gets us the other shoe. She takes them both to the cash register and then joins her fellow employees and shoots the breeze. But wait...it gets better. We go to pay and there's no one at the register. We wait and wait while the B.S. session continues towards the front of the store. My son goes to the woman who gave us the shoes and says "We're ready". She looks at him and says the cashier will do it. BUT THERE'S NO CASHIER!!!!! Again, my son really wanted the shoes. SO we wait and finally a person emerges from the back and we pay and our on our way. WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN!!!!!!!
