After realizing that house balls are about as comfortable as wearing someone else's shoes (which, let's be honest, we've also been doing), my husband and I decided it was time to invest in our own bowling gear. Enter Tom Kelley's Pro Shop! We stopped in on a bustling Saturday morning and were welcomed right in. Signing in was a breeze, and despite my "novice bowler" status, the staff made me feel like I belonged in the big leagues. They expertly sized my hand, asked all the right questions (some of which I knew the answers to, some of which I answered with a confident nod and hoped for the best), and guided me to my perfect match--a Husker ball that caught my eye the second I walked in. As luck would have it, they had it in my size and a package deal: ball, bag, shoes, and towel for $250. A deal so good, it practically bowled me over. My husband got the same VIP treatment, and before long, we were both on our way to bowling glory. They took our new balls to the back to be drilled and even engraved them with our names (because why not make it official?). While we waited, we picked out our shoes--Brunswick Panda Dunks, as I like to call them. Stylish, functional, and ready to help us avoid the dreaded gutter life. Once our balls were done, we got to test them out in-store, rolling them right toward an employee (a bold move, but they seemed unfazed). Any adjustments were made on the spot, and we left knowing that future tweaks would be covered for free. Talk about customer service! All in all, our trip to Tom Kelley's was a perfect 300. This is the place to go if you're looking for friendly, knowledgeable staff, great deals, and a smooth experience. Now, if only they could guarantee I'll bowl a strike... Highly recommend!

Now, it had been about 10 years since I played ball golf (I'm more of discer), but this little city course was a nice reintroduction to the sport. Overall, the course is well maintained (it was a little soggy due to all the rain) and was a breeze to play through. Quite a few of the holes were super short though, and only required a pitching wedge from the tee. Still, I'd say it's definitely worth the $11 fee to play. I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things at a few more local courses.

Not really many hazards, but not quite as open as some other Omaha courses. I would rate it 5/10 on the difficulty level. There are some great chances for birdie, especially hole 8, and other holes can be punishing if you don't hit your spot (hole 5). No driving range, and not a ton of amenities to speak of, but the pro shop does serve a small selection of beer and snacks, and a tasty hot dog and jalapeno cheddar brat.

The fairways run up against each other so it was a common occurrence to have another group in our fairway attempting to punch their shot back onto their hole. My only gripe is we were out on a perfect day and a beer cart never once came around. Road noise off of 72nd can also be a bit distracting, but overall, I highly recommend.

I'm still learning and don't get out much but my boyfriend asked me to come along so I figured why not? I love that this course can be completed in an afternoon or morning and you can still manage to get other things done the same day. The course takes you up along the side of the lake and back around to the 9th hole hitting over the lake. I thought that was kind of fun. I mostly started at the red since I'm still a beginner bug hopefully I can move back to the white or blue! I travel a lot with work and try to play local courses when I can. This may have been the worst…read moreexperience that I've had at a public course. The track was pretty and and the only problems with the course were dents in the greens. I ended up being stuck behind two groups of kids as a single. They were playing very slow. I caught them on every box and they never said a word or asked if I would like to play through. They drove on the fringe multiple times, and got their cart stuck for 20+ min trying to drive through a creek. At this point I quit(number 8 I believe) and waited for them to hit their tee shots on 9 before I drove around. 4 people hit 7 tee shots with me waiting to pass! After I got to the pro shop, I let the pro know what happened and how disappointed I was. He offered me a rain check and when I told him that I lived out of state and would prefer a refund, he offered me a refund for 9 saying that I had already played 8 holes. I let him know that I didn't feel like that was fair, but he said that was the best that he could do so I left.

As a paying member of Valley View Golf Course, I'm outraged at how I was treated here. I admit I…read moremade a mistake by playing the back 9 without paying immediately, but I had every intention of returning my key and settling up afterwards. Instead of handling the matter professionally, the manager cussed at me, accused me of "stealing," and turned the situation into a public scene. Even worse, my friends who had nothing to do with this, were kicked off on the very last hole. She went as far as to call me a "bad friend," trying to equate that with being a bad person. That kind of personal attack is unprofessional and unnecessary. To make things worse, she claimed to be the "owner," which I later found out is not true she is only the manager. As a member, I expected to be treated with respect, but instead I was humiliated and disrespected. This entire situation could have been handled calmly and privately, but instead it became hostile and embarrassing. Valley View should seriously reconsider who they put in charge of managing the course.

They had a good selection of boards to choose from, and my 4-year-old godson was able to test a couple out before he chose the one he wanted. They had a local designer showing a clothing line in the next room, which was a good way to showcase local talent! The pricing on the board was pretty great too, I expected it to cost almost double what it cost. They have complete boards for sale, which is what my godson got, but also boards you can customize. They have merch, clothes and shoes, stickers, all the things. They gave him a skate shop sticker to go on his board, which was a big hit with him!

Always encouraging to see the Midwest skate community growing and central is a great spot that fosters that. My husband was going in looking for a new board and they had plenty (for a great price too ) Boards, trucks, wheels, apparel, shoes -- you name it they have it. The guys were super helpful and friendly and my husband ended up skating around with them outside for a little bit after. This is a great shop that will have all you need and take good care of you, support local!
