After being a longtime customer, this was enough for us to close our Cabela's account and stop shopping there entirely. I recently ordered ammunition online and noticed an unexpected extra charge of about $22. Mistakes happen, so I called customer service simply looking for clarification and help resolving it. Unfortunately, the experience only got worse. The representative I spoke with was dismissive and unhelpful, and when I asked to speak with a manager, the attitude was no better. At no point did anyone seem interested in actually helping or even listening. What disappointed me most wasn't the charge itself, it was the complete lack of customer care afterward. I understand large companies may not feel the impact of losing a single customer, but we still have the right to choose where we spend our money, and we won't continue supporting a company that treats customers this way. Cabelas always has the best customer service, so after years of shopping here, it is high time that I write a review. Specifically, we were shopping yesterday, 11/26, and while going through different departments and aisles all over the store, we ran into numerous associates who greeted us and asked if we needed anything. Cabelas always has great prices on their product and their store merchandise is amazing--reliable & great value. When we did need help finding and item or learning more about a product, the associates had no problems answering our questions and taking the time to teach us about the product and additional options. Special shout out to Doug in the optics department for going above and beyond to take the time discussing not only binoculars but also waterfowling in Utah. We're so grateful for the time taken to speak with us and it made this Cabelas trip exceptional. read more

Don't bring your guns for appraisal here. At the check in, they had a girl clear my rifles. I brought one of them in a gun sleeve and a gun case and several times asked for her to be careful with that specific rifle. First she rests it on top of another gun. Then she tries to stack them in a shopping cart because she can't walk them to the gun counter. I stopped her and asked for her to put it in the case if she's going to stack them in the cart. She then tried to put another rifle in the same gun case on top of the rifle I wanted to be left alone... why have people in a department who don't know what they're doing? This is why you see guns and wonder how they got damaged. Unless you don't care about your guns take them literally anywhere else. The fishing department is killing it though, shout out to those guys, they keep me coming back! read more

Caught in a classic BAIT & SWITCH I have always loved Cabelas. However, this pissed me off . We went in to purchase some boots for wadding fishing. We Already have the Waders. This was a purchase by my step son. The boots were organized 9 on a lower shelf around the immediate corner were the $ 79.00 as on display. When we took the boots to the cashier they wanted $130 for the same boots. We questioned the price My step son ran to get a photograph of the price, As the manager came to check out our concerns. She looked at the photographs and then went and talk to her supervisor she said no we cannot price match. Well it's not a price match it's the value of the price that we selected. Price match is for another company!!! Not the same store! Bottom line we actually went back and selected the boots that were not on the shelf, she had to get them out of the back room at $79. This added 45 minutes to our already long day! Cabelas you can do better than this!!!! Also, my step son age 12 is not impressed with your company! I remember the excitement that was pervasive in the sporting and outdoors community when they announce many years ago that the first Cabela's would be built in Utah. I think the population of Lehi doubled on opening day there, as it was a zoo and people were out of control. Contrast that to this store in Farmington, which seems like it opened in the middle of the night and we didn't hear much about it. Now, I actually think there's a lot to like about this spot vs the Lehi location (and as unfair as it is to compare, you know we're all doing it). Lehi is massive, and I rather like the much smaller, more manageable feel to this one. Yes, that means a lot of products are unavailable, but if you're really desperate, remember that Cabela's also has a big distribution center in Tooele and you can pick stuff up out there, or you can order online and have it shipped to the store. So that's a big plus of a big company. I'm not in love with all of the sales floor real estate dedicated to clothing. I don't really shop for my outdoors clothes here, so I'm biased. Doubly biased, I'm not into camo so that takes even more out of consideration for me. But the essential interesting sections are still around as well, and they do have a really nice fishing section here, as well as a separate section just for fly fishing. The gun library is interesting to walk around too; people spend lots of money on their old guns, that's for sure. I'm curious to see what happens with the Bass Pro Shops merger. They tend to carry a few more things that I like, so we'll see if those products make their way over. Also, the staff here was super friendly, but after a few questions I'm not sure that they were the most expert in their field. Again, most of the room for improvement at this location seems to be service-related. If you're after the whole "Cabela's experience" then this isn't it--save that for a destination store. But for a smaller, more accessible, better parking experience, I like the way this one it set up. read more

I want to love this place, I really do. I can wander around for HOURS enjoying the manly man stuff they carry. Anything and everything the outdoorsy person could want. But I just can't. Cabela's isn't cheap and that's okay. I don't mind paying premium prices for good gear in a "all under one roof" place. I've been there no less than 4 times in the past two months to leave either empty handed or only partially fulfilled. And nobody can seem to tell you when it's coming back in. I am a Cabela's club member, and today my wife and kids and I went in to spend over $200 in Cabela's Club Points and my Christmas gift cards at the Farmington, Utah location. We have to wear mask to protect my wife against COVID because my wife has pre-existing medical conditions. I don't mind if other people wear a mask, I think that is their choice, and I'm not interested in the politics of it. But the two employees at the Cabela's Club signup booth ignored and the mocked us when we walked by them with our mask on. I know this because we could hear them talking about our masks which was none of their business frankly. I told my wife let's just get our snow boots that we wanted and then we would just not come back to this location. Then we went to the shoe department and started shopping, we talked to a very nice customer their who suggested some nice boots he liked. Curtis was the clerk in the department, we were there for 26 minutes while Curtis greeted every customer around us except us, finally I said "excuse me could I get some help with some boots?" And Curtis ignored me and went on to greet and help the gentleman right next to us. My wife thought the best of the situation and thought that it might just be some confusion and asked Curtis for help and he walked right by her and greeted a new customer again while ignoring us. Finally I decided we were just going to leave and I would come back later by myself to spend the points. Then as we walked past the fishing department an employee walked by and said "nice masks" to us. My kids were with me for goodness sake. You wanna mock me that's fine, but we were just trying to keep my wife safe while we shopped. This made me think to look into Cabela's mask policy, I never cared before but clearly this location has strong feelings about it, and the Cabela's website states that all store employees are supposed to wear masks. No one at this location was wearing one. I welcome the Cabela's team at this location to please review the security tape from 12:45pm to 1:20pm if they don't believe it. You can see Curtis speaking to everyone else and not us in the shoe department. I will be bringing this to the attention of the appropriate people and organizations to bring some awareness to Cabela and this locations feelings about the treatment of their customers and how they do not follow the safety guidelines that their own company advertises. I will be canceling my Cabela's Card silver card and taking all my hunting and outdoor business elsewhere. read more

Went to Cabelas outside of Reno to look at Ruger's new red dot sight for a pistol. I would have bought any red dot if they would mount it on my pistol. My pistol has a Weaver base. The salesman did the best he could to NOT sell me a sight. "The technician isn't here and we can't adapt to the Weaver". I have been to 10 Cabelas since they opened stores in the Western US. Today there are numerous competing stores that have 99% of the stuff in Cabela's. I only go to Cabelas when I strike out at the competitors. And now it doesn't surprise me when the won't help you, say they can't help you or help you overly arrogantly. read more

When I went to the counter to look at a pistol the worker named David was not helpful I asked him what comes in the box of a specific pistol he proceeds to say "I don't know" when I asked him if he could find out he said I don't know again and decided not to go look before just staring at me in silence for about a minute completely unfriendly. I then decided I did not want to buy a gun from this guy considering it's a long process and he already was doing everything to not help. I then went to customer service and asked for another worker to help me. When I got back to the counter David told me they would not sell me a gun because of "attitude" after this I talked to another worker and escalated it to a manager who manipulated me into giving my ID because I thought he would sell me the pistol. After waiting about 20 minutes the manager comes out named Joe and completely lies about me accusing me of a federal offense saying I was trying to get the gun for someone else because I asked for another worker to help me. Every worker in the gun section I came into contact with was completely unprofessional and rude. They even went as far to lie about me and accuse me of a federal offense before kicking me out and denying service. read more

This Cabelas location is NOT for everyone. Upon asking for some help in the smoker isle, we were met with a very unhappy worker who would have rather been anywhere else other than answering our questions. It seemed as though he was more interested in running away than answering a few questions and making a significant sale. When we thanked him for his time, he abruptly turned his back and disappeared, no "ok bye", "thanks for coming in", "let us know if you have any questions", no customer service whatsoever. It's instances like this that make you question the training, vetting process of the hiring and whether your hard earned money should be spent at a store that couldn't give two flying monkeys about your business. Heaven forbid we spend our money at this business and need a repair or have a question down the road...we felt very unwelcome in this store, the feeling of putting him out and being a nuisance was ever so present. It makes me wonder that if we looked different, would he have given us the same treatment? His body language, tone, the look on his face when he had to help us...all lead us to feel belittled and unwanted. I cannot say I will EVER return to this Cabela's, and will definitely think twice before going to any other location again. As far as my smoker purchase? Which will be several hundred dollars?...another business that treats its patrons with respect and dignity will get that sale and I'll be sure to sing their praises and share with my friends and family. read more

The older or OLD staff continue to have current product knowledge and are polite and very helpful. Use them if at all possible. I like this Cabelas but it's not as big as the Lehi store so it seems their selection is a bit more limited. They also can't really keep much ammo in stock, but that normal during covid. They have a hard time keeping a lot of things in stock so I tend to order online and pick up in store here. It's been working out great. read more

What a rip-off!! I bought a Pointer semi-auto Shotgun 12 gage for about 415.00 dollars after taxes ect. that is a complete piece of crap! The weapon discharged while chambering a round, the gun would jam every time we shot it, to the point of disassembled every round, for a semi-auto gun it didn't cycle one time. I thought it was the ammo but, tried 5 different kinds of ammo with the same results. The topper was the handle on the charging bolt fell off or came out. Cabela's wouldn't take the weapon back but, they were good enough to buy it back less then 24 hours after I bought it for 210.00 dollars. I get the reasons why they didn't wanna take it back. If you going to sell a product don't sell people garbage! Stand behind what you sell! Anyway let me save you some trouble do not buy any POINTER SHOTGUNS I'll save you the time and frustration! Can I just say that Cabelas is one of those places that is Disneyland for the true Outdoor men in the world. They have everything you could imagine. I can even pick up all the ice fishing equipment my heart desires. The staff is truly great, however they do push the credit cards a little hard. Their gun selection is top notch, however don't think you will be getting a deal on anything unless it is in the printed ads. Their guns hardly go on sale. I was so impressed with this Cabela's that I will certainly be back! Drew in Archery taught me how to string a bow, how to shoot an arrow, and that I should raise my standards of quality service because he went above and beyond for me. Nick started the whole thing by being outside with a blow up archery target teaching kids (and anyone else who wanted to try it) archery safety. Scout master Rick (Richard) made sure that my partner and me had the best tent for our needs and told us about the Cabela's credit card with a very low rate that would have also saved us even more on our lifetime guaranteed tent. The last time I went to this Cabela's it was last November. Unfortunately I made a huge mistake today driving 45 mins one way to check if they had any ammo. Let me share with you what happened. So I was just standing in front of the gun counter and playing with my phone and a guy asked me if I needed help, which was nice. I said no I am good and I was just waiting for them to restock ammo. The guy said they didn't have any ammo today otherwise it would be out already. Since I drove a long way I wanted to wait for a while to see because I heard they had some last Friday. I just wanted to be left alone so I said fine then but I know you had some in the back and I will just wait. The guy totally snapped and started saying 'who told you that? We are not supposed to tell you that. What's the guy's name? Is it one of our gun counter guy?' I felt it was funny to see a person acting like that. I said hold on so I am not allowed to just stand here? Can you just leave me alone? The guy kept going and went 'no I need to know the name'. I wasn't sure if they had any ammo in the back but at that point I knew they have. Anyway, I didn't want to waste my time on someone who was trying to initiate a fight with a customer, so I just walked away. Never been more disgusted in my life with customer service. I will never step foot into any Cabelas ever again. Im not here to get anyone fired so I don't need to use names. I will use this platform for its intended purposes. My experience, they do not care if you need help. They will pick up the phone after you have been asking for help for 20 minutes and let the store know they are now closed when the only person there is standing in front of them. Then tell you to find your way out. When your absolutely blown away you will ask for a supervisor to try and save your morning hunt and he will say. Somewhere and walk away. I will return everything possible that I have purchased this week from Cabelas. It's all garbage in my opinion. I had a horrible experience here. They have terrible customer service, and would not stop talking long enough to listen to what we were explaining. They created a whole scene that didn't need to happen at all. Both my parents and I had spoken with 2 different men in the firearms department days before we went in. Both of those men were very nice. However, the day we we went into the store - they immediately started treating us horribly. They followed my mom around the store suspiciously, first off. She's a 70yo nice lady. WhY? Then when my dad was trying to buy a firearm, the sales person called a manager to the desk. They all immediately started accusing my father and I of doing something illegal.?! which made no sense whatsoever. I was simply talking to him and reading the fine print off the computer for him. it was so weird, and got very fired up very quickly. I would NEVER give them my business. We left the store, luckily before spending any money. A couple of days later we ended up spending $$$$ at a local store. They were kind, allowed me to help my father read the fine print, and helped us so nicely SO KIND, their customer service is through the roof. I am seriously becoming unimpressed with their customer service. Big ding on in the star rating just for this. We were shopping in the fishing supplies. We were back and forth constantly. 3 employees stood there talking and offered no help. My husband asked if we should ask someone about an item and I said no because I want to see how long it would take for someone to acknowledge a deer in the headlights. We were there for about 30 mintues and finally, one employee decided to come ask. He was nice, but we already figrued they don't have what we needed. We took a long time so we could compare prices from other stores we've been to today. They're more expensive and I was fine spending the extra dough so we didn't have to back track to another store, but after today, I'm more than ok with going out of my way. We got up to the register and I said "Hi!!!" She seemed annoyed by my presence. The feeling became mutual as she was more interested in talking to her coworker. After the heartfelt fuzzy farwell, my husband returned all the miscellaneous hooks, stren, bait, sinkers and jigs because the experience was irritating. The return was easy, $40 back. I feel like Cabela's isn't employing people who have the same love of the outdoors as their customers do. I always have a great experience when I come in, even if it's just to pay a bill or grab a piece of fudge. I can strike up a conversation with anyone, and there are always great sales going on.
