    Kare kare and palabok
    Jess J.

My aunt got catering from Ca Lasa for my grandmother's birthday party. I'll admit that I was hesitant on Filipino food that's not from Carson but Ca Lasa surpassed my expectations. My favorite was the kare kare. Lots of tasty beef chunks. They don't overuse tripe as a filler like other restaurants. The chicken bbq was delicious as well I hope they end up on DoorDash.

Never tried Filipino food until today, and now I can see why everyone has been raving about it…read more Seems like a mom and pop shop, and the hospitality and service here is great. The employee at the front provided me some samples to taste before I made a decision and she got me hooked! I walked in wanting a two combo plate, but after sampling the pork sisig, adobo chicken, and the breakfast sausage, I had to make it a three combo (ended up with a lot of food leftover). Personally, I really enjoyed the pork sisig: it was juicy and packed a whole bunch of flavor, especially from the vinegar which canceled out the greasiness. The sausage was surprisingly really good, not too sweet and had a nice garlicky flavor. It'd pair well with a bowl of hot rice and a fried egg in the morning. I got a sample of a soup (can't remember the name), but it had a nice sour taste to it as well (not overly sour though). I definitely will come back again if I am in the area for the pork sisig and the service!

Unlike other joints, they seem to limit their daily offerings to about 10-12 dishes. Which means food doesn't sit on the warmer for too long. The portions are generous and the food was delicious! I was fortunate to meet one of the owners and she was very welcoming, shared a bit of the concept for the restaurant and provided a run through of several of their menu items. I was hooked and was determined to return one day soon. My first impression that day was clearly a lot of thought was put into opening this establishment. Opening a brick and mortar in these trying times is hard enough as it is so I applaud all of the thought behind the choices in decor, furniture, setup, materials equipment etc- the whole nine yards! I felt so much love within these brand new walls and was well looking forward to returning, but clearly I had not returned soon enough because tonight I just made it in by 2 or was it 10 minutes before closing. Needless to say I placed my order to go, which means you know I'm coming back to dine in because my meal was outstanding. I've had plenty of goat in my day, primarily on the East Coast in New York City with its very large Jamaican community/cuisine and IMHO I've had A some of the very best to the very not so best when it comes to goat, and this goat stew was beyond delicious. Very succulent, very meaty and the blend of seasoning was so well balanced I could have cried. Needless to say the plantain and rice didn't disappoint, I expected no less with such an A+ protein preparation and I'm also very excited to say the salad, you know that thing folks hardly give any attention to when there's something as fabulous as this entree by its side, with its thinly sliced apple, sliced grape and lime juice is the perfect pairing to this stew. All my taste buds were stimulated as they danced through this Monday night magic. Oh wait, can't forget about the hot sauce served on the side- umm umm yummy yum yum. I just loved every bit of my meal tonight. Can't wait to come back because like I said, also didn't say, the hospitality I received that first day when I popped in out of curiosity was very kind and generous so I am certain dining in will check all the boxes. Did I mention the courtesy glass of water I received while waiting for my order was presented with a beautiful globe of ice in it? I certainly haven't received that presentation anywhere lately (last 20 yrs lol). IT'S THOSE LITTLE TOUCHES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE MONEY WELL SPENT !!! Thank you MC I appreciate+++ you!!! *** Credit cards accepted ***…read more I was planning to visit another teriyaki eatery, but due to an unexplained road blockage I came here instead. Kasai Teriyaki Bowl is a hole-in-the-wall teriyaki spot in Lawndale and there's a sign stating that their food is guaranteed to have no MSG. [Parking]: Easy and free strip mall parking. [Atmosphere & service]: There are two tables inside the takeout spot with a TV playing sports games. I placed an in-person order at 6 PM and the cashier said it would take about 10 minutes. The order was indeed ready in less than 10 minutes. [Menu]: Each order comes with one hot sauce and one teriyaki sauce. Extra sauce costs $0.25. Some of Yelp's top highlighted items are Chicken Teriyaki Bowl, Beef and Chicken Bowl, and Chicken Avocado. *** #4 Chicken & beef bowl ($15.99 + avocado $2.99): The only way I could get avocado with the Chicken & Beef Bowl was ordering avocado as an add-on. Excellent charbroiled chicken and beef with a generous portion of avocado slices. Overall it was actually a very good bowl. The portion could be slightly bigger for a bowl that's close to $20 with sales tax included, but in hindsight I should've just ordered Chicken Avocado ($11.99) or Beef Avocado ($13.99) instead for a better-value pick. *** This is one of the better teriyaki spots in the South Bay area - efficient service and delicious teriyaki bowls. I can easily see myself coming back for another round of quick takeout for a teriyaki bowl with avocado.

The Carson location is my usual go-to, but I happen to be in this area so it was convenient. I went online, put my orders in, all good and ready to go when I arrived during pick up time! Still hot when I arrived home, and that first bite of that crispy fried chicken finally took care of the bad taste caused by that eatery I went to the day before. Gravy made it even better!
