    Garlic Chicken

Primo Hawaiian was a pleasant surprise and a definitely a place I'll be coming back to. I've visited this plaza before since it shares the same location as the Lakers store, but I had never tried the food until now. I finally gave it a shot at lunch and it did not disappoint. I chose to get their Garlic Chicken Plate. The late comes with two scoops of rice topped with furikake and a scoop of mac salad. I asked if it was okay to do two scoops of mac salad and one scoop of rice, and they nicely accommodated. The garlic chicken was crispy with a surprise sweet twist from the glaze. It paired perfectly with with the white rice. I also loved the creamy mac salad with small chunks of potato. For $18.99, I thought the portions were generous and more than enough for sharing. I really enjoyed my lunch here. The food was so ono, the price point was just right and the service was good. I definitely can see myself coming back here. I am excited to try their other dishes in the near future.

When in the area I stop by here. Aloha feeling right when you walk in from the decor to the great customer service from Micheala. I ordered the Loco Moco that hit the spot. I will definitely come back again. Mahalo

Ordered the chicken cutlet w/ gravy. I would go here to grab some quick lunch, but this time, I'm probably not going to get food here anymore. When I opened up my plate lunch, my chicken cutlet smelled like it was marinated in bleach or some kind of cleaning solution. I don't know I kept eating it thinking the smell is going to diminish. I couldn't eat all of my food and I threw it away. I was disgusted. I didn't notice the business has changed its name from Tasty to Primo. Even in the past, I got a sprite fountain drink & it tasted like bleach. It's seems like they still have the same workers from when they switch the business name. They are friendly but they need to stop putting bleach/cleaning solution in their food. L&L & Wiki Wiki Hawaiian is down the road if you don't want bleach in your Hawaiian food.

We were in the area for a competition at DaVinci High School and found this amazing Hawaiian plate restaurant. The food was delicious, everything was made fresh, and the Mac salad was so traditional - it reminded us of our vacation in Maui! Definitely try this place!

The food was really good here. I think they rebranded their restaurant as the name has changed but the food is still the same and consistent with Hawaiian Cuisine. I ordered the Lau Lau and it was amazing. The portion was filling. The service was friendly and the restaurant was clean. It was busy, so it took longer than normal to get my food. The parking was plentiful and there are other eateries in the complex. If you're around El Segundo or the LAX airport, swing on by to try some good eats, Hawaiian Style.

If you're cruising through El Segundo or catching a flight at LAX, you've got to hit this spot for some authentic Hawaii food & vibes. It looks like they've rebranded recently, but don't let the new name fool you--the menu is still delivering that consistent and high-quality local style food. I went with the Loco Moco, and it was absolute fire. The flavors are on point, so definitely come hungry. The staff is super friendly and kept the dining area spotless. Plus, the parking lot is huge, which is a rare win for LA. Come give this place a try!!

Food is salty. And when asked about it they did not offer to redo the food, but offered a scoop of rice.

When I was thinking of writing this review, I imagined explaining that I had not been to this…read moreeatery in years. And that much is true, I went in 2023 because I wrote a Yelp then for that experience. And I continue to believe it is a "solid choice." I can see how it can lend itself, and be enjoyable, to many eaters. And how its beach adjacent location draws many sandal wearers and surfers gone business casual for the night. So I will begin my focusing on what I thought was our servers faux pa. My friend Conrad and I hang out on spin mode, with the cycle never really stopping. So we kind of have an implicit expectation that sometime during our time together we will break bread. But on this ocassion, I had already eaten and he had not. This does not mean that his hunger would be true until we parted ways. We could eat together, even if I was not eating. We were by the joint so we decided to eat there because I wanted to share with him what I have found to be consistently solid and pleasant. While we were there we got a table for two. We informed our server that only Conrad would be eating, since I had already. And he gave a look. Yes, a look that I interpreted as a mix of confusion and judgement- which together makes out of place bewilderment. Why? I can totally see a pair of folks being too embarrassed to go into a restaurant, especially, a nice place like Manhattan Beach Post if only one was eating. Again, I can understand that easily. I mean people are shy and unwilling to insert themselves in situations that are non standard. But then there is other people. The people who wear PJs to the store, who rock hair of a purple shade, and well, others have grown so old that eating with a friend while they are not eating, is not embarrasing, rather just the steps of an unplanned evening. To be more specific, I think the server should have saved his "not even a drink" and proceeding confused face to himself. Conrad and I had valid reasons for entering and not dining as a duo and he should have responded with undersstanding, not just like I had said I was so hungry I could eat bigfoot raw. In short contrast, I offer the host of the place, Crystal. While eating with Conrad I did taste just a wee bit of his four cheese ear shaped pasta- Orichette- and his biscuit. The biscuit is strong but with the maple butter it sings hard, give this buttered biscuit a stage at Madison Square garden or that famous opera house in Sydney. The Orichette was also super good but one of the cheeses had like this chalky taste. It did not taste bad, but also not good, which made me engage with the dish at an analytical way. And personally, when food makes me think, I love it. Crystal heard a version of this dialogue and engaged with me saying that she feels the same way because it makes her feel like a food critic. She also asked me to go when I was hungry. Service like hers makes a place shine. Service like the server gave us makes me question why there was no guard at the door ensuring that both of us had an appetitte. The decor of the place is one that I have seen in the recent the weeks---- brown with live plants. It is lovely. It is both muted and alive. This place has been around for years and will survive my review. And I do plan to go again. And I will make sure to be hungry. I am not sure if I can guarantee that for the person I take but I will try my best.

We didn't have a reservation but the wait staff was able to get a table after a brief 15" wait. Here is how it scored... The Food - Healthy Steak Salad ($23) Score 5/5: My oh my, this was a great salad. I love hanger steak and they cooked it perfectly. The greens were nicely selected and it was not overdressed. The price was reasonable factoring in inflation and Manhattan Beach. The Service Score 5/5: The wait staff was friendly, kind and attentive. The Venue Score 5/5: It really has a small tavern/sports bar look and feel. It's small, maybe less than 25 seats. Reservations highly recommended. The Parking Score 2/5: Manhattan Beach can be nightmare because it is mainly street parking. According to another reviewer, there is a small lot behind the building. His espresso martini was so delicious! It was my first time trying one and it did not disappoint. My partner and I had the crispy rice with spicy tuna and the shrimp taquitos, while on the pricier side it is definitely worth it. The spicy tuna crispy rice was so rich in flavor, and the crispy rice truly was crispy. The shrimp taquitos were unlike anything i've tried before! I was expecting some classic taquitos filled with shrimp but this place really goes above and beyond with this dish. The shrimps were wrapped (as you can see in the photo) and it was so good!! I definitely plan on coming back if i'm ever in the area. The ambience of this place is beautiful too, we came during the day but I really want to see how it is at night. I would say this is a great spot for a date night with a partner or friends.

Nick's Manhattan Beach will always hold a special place in our family's heart…read more In August 2025, I made a dinner reservation at Nick's because my parents were visiting from out-of-town and we had some exciting news to announce: we were pregnant with our first baby! :) On the reservation, I noted this, and didn't expect much. The day of the reservation, the host manager called to confirm that we wanted to share the news at dessert, and if there were any other accommodations we needed, which was very sweet. When we arrived at our table, they had a card signed by staff congratulating us, and it was a night to remember. Great food, great service, and the warm hand towels after my dad demolished the baby back ribs were the cherry on top! Our group also ordered the chilean sea bass, salmon, and bistro plate. 10/10. One of our final meals as a family of two was Valentine's Day 2026. It was our first time being seated indoors, and the ambiance was dim and romantic. The meatloaf special was fantastic! Fast forward to June 2026, and we brought our 3-month-old son to his first NIck's meal (unfortunately, he could not partake) and to celebrate my husband's first Father's Day. On this reservation, I put in a request for outdoor seating that gave us enough room to park our stroller and car seat, and they were able to accommodate that. They were also understanding when me and my husband were running a few minutes past our reservation time due to fhe baby, and we appreciated the flexibility. Noise level was moderate, but definitely quieter outside. If you get nothing else from this review, just remember this: ORDER THE WARM BUTTER CAKE. YOU WILL NEVER REGRET IT. Thanks for the consistent hospitality and great meals, Nick's!
