Teriyaki Salmon plate, fresh green salad, macaroni, and rice
Randa H.

I called and placed my order because I know it takes a good 15-20 minutes to get our food ready. We ordered the Salmon Teriyaki, though the price has gone up it was almost $40. For both plate it's worth every penny. They're not stingy with the portion sizes. You get about 4-5 Salmon pieces smothered in teriyaki sauce but the Salmon is fresh!! You also get a side of fresh green salad, macaroni salad and 2 lemon slices. If you choose to eat inside it's never packed but we always take it to go. The tables are always clean if you want to though.

Spicy chicken plate

I was looking for plate lunch in Hermosa Beach and found this place just over the freeway in Lawndale. Friendly service, made to order plates. Spicy teri chicken was huge and came with lots of rice Mac salad and tossed greens as well. Enough food for two! Definitely recommend

We ordered the Salmon Teriyaki and it was delicious and very filling. They also add a lot of salmon which is a plus!! The owner is very nice as well as personable. She gave me a free Snapple since my bf has been frequenting this place for years. How sweet is that! She definitely remembers repeat customers. The place is also very clean inside.

My boyfriend works nearby and has been raving about this place for years, and I finally got to try it recently! I definitely had high expectations, and Maui Teriyaki met every single one of those expectations. The ordering process was easy by phone, and the food was ready quickly. I got the short rib + chicken combo plate, which came on a bed of rice and with salad and macaroni salad on the side. It was delicious! Everything was cooked to perfection. There is tons of parking available in the open lot outside. Also, there is indoor and outdoor seating, but somewhat limited. However, we went at a good time and there were many tables and chairs open. Nevertheless, we took the food back to work and ate outside at a picnic table on-site.

Special # 1

Favorite place paired with a favorite dish? Why not? While settling into the LA area, I see this from the street as wondering what to eat for dinner. It's a small place, but warm and inviting. I was just open to a new experience. Maybe I was misunderstood but I was served in a to-go plate. I ate in the dining room. Wow. The food was amazing. I almost had one of those life pausing moments as I ate. Really well prepared. Nothing to complain about. 4 stars now. Will update as I go back and sample more dishes.

Deluxe Sampler Platter: chicken, beef, ribs, jumbo shrimp, rice, green salad & macaroni salad.

The first time I came here I didn't know what to get. So the young lady suggested the Deluxe Sampler Platter: chicken, beef, ribs, shrimps, rice, green salad & macaroni salad. I was hooked. Today 6/22/24 is my 2nd visit & I got the same thing. The service & ambiance is great. Thank you for the great food. See you next time

Really good chicken teriyaki. I've been going here for the past year. Today I found a piece of wood in my salad. Unacceptable

This might sound a little cheesy, but I honestly don't think I've ever felt happier this year (apart from a recent trip to Hawaii, which maybe makes sense). Just that happiness that comes with feeling so warmly welcomed and put at ease,, comforted by the most delicious food that nourishes both body and soul, and the warm glow of the sunset outside, coupled with the cozy lights overhead. I don't know, it was such a sweet memory ... made possible by the sweetest team cooking up some seriously bomb food. The loco moco was hands down the best I've had, and I've gone searching across cities in both California and Hawaii for a good one. The poke was chef's kiss. So tender, juicy, and flavorful, without any of those weird gritty bites you sometimes get elsewhere. I think the lovely gentleman we met may have been the owner, who shared that he was born and raised on Oahu and was lovingly bringing a taste of home here to SoCal. And boy, are we lucky to have it. Such a treasure for the South Bay. So grateful we got to experience it!

Its a pretty friendly spot - Guy who runs this place is great fun and I just love the vibe here. I got their Ali'l Bowl - Its a mix of 2 Pokes, 1 base , 2 sides and a Kalua Pork + drink and it was very good ! I also tried their Spam and it was excellent ! I will definitely be back to try out their items or anytime I am in the area.

I am a sucker for poke sold by the pound and this restaurant really delivers. They sell poke bowls…read moreand other things--primarily with a Hawaiian flair--but they also offer about 10 different pokes by the pound, half pound, and even quarter pound. I especially appreciate them selling poke by the quarter pound. Absolutely no one else does that. We tried three different pokes (shoyu, Cali Hawaiian and Garlic Spicy) and they were all delicious. The Cali Hawaiian had krab in it, which was a little unusual but not unwelcome. Definitely ask the employees for recommendations. Free parking in the lot. I would happily return.

Honu Poke & Grill -- Lomita, CA…read more 1824 Lomita Blvd, Lomita, CA Honu Poke & Grill is a small, cozy Hawaiian-style restaurant located in a shopping plaza near the intersection of Western Ave. and Lomita Blvd. PARKING & LOCATION One thing to be mindful of is that the parking lot is currently undergoing renovations. From the looks of it, they may be installing a Tesla charging station in the center of the plaza. Some areas are fenced off, so parking and navigating the lot may be a little inconvenient until construction is completed. ATMOSPHERE & SEATING The restaurant has a small, Hawaiian-inspired interior with tropical decorations. Seating is limited to four tables accommodating four people each and two additional tables seating two people each. There is a self-service water station, but no soda fountain. Also, there are no restrooms available for customers. My biggest complaint about the dining experience was the indoor temperature. I visited during this October heatwave, and even before noon, the restaurant was already uncomfortably warm. With all the fluorescent lighting turned on and the refrigerated poke display cases potentially contributing additional heat, it felt like the temperature continued rising. I'm not exaggerating when I say I was actually sweating while sitting there eating my lunch! Better air conditioning or ventilation would definitely make the dine-in experience much more enjoyable, especially during warmer days. MENU & PRICING They offer a good selection of Hawaiian-style poke, including Hawaiian Shoyu, Hawaiian Limu, California Hawaiian, Spicy Mayo, Spicy Garlic, Salmon Shoyu, Salmon Limu, Salmon Sweet Spicy, Spicy Garlic Salmon, and Salmon Spicy Mayo. Poke bowls range approximately from $14.45 to $15.95, while poke plates range from $15.45 to $16.45. For this visit, I ordered: * Combo Poke Plate -- Hawaiian Shoyu & Hawaiian Limu * Loco Moco -- $15.95 * Hawaiian Sun POG COMBO POKE PLATE -- HAWAIIAN SHOYU & HAWAIIAN LIMU Both selections tasted fresh, which is definitely something I appreciate when eating poke. The Hawaiian Shoyu had a nice flavor, and the Hawaiian Limu was equally fresh-tasting. The plate came with two scoops of white rice topped with furikake seasoning. Overall, I enjoyed both poke selections, and they were a highlight of my meal. LOCO MOCO -- $15.95 Something worth mentioning is that the Loco Moco is made to order, and I was informed there would be approximately a 20-minute wait. So if you're in a hurry, keep that in mind. The Loco Moco comes with two scoops of rice, sunny-side-up eggs, hamburger patties, and a generous amount of brown gravy. The hamburger patties were smaller, almost like mini slider-sized patties. What I appreciated was that they tasted handmade and nicely seasoned rather than like the typical frozen, pre-made patties. The patties were practically swimming in gravy! Now, the gravy itself had good flavor, but the consistency was definitely on the watery side. I'm talking almost soup-like consistency. If you scooped some up with a spoon and tilted it, the gravy would immediately run right off. Personally, I prefer my Loco Moco gravy to be a little thicker, with enough consistency to coat the hamburger patties and rice rather than just pooling around everything. That being said, the flavor was there, so it wasn't necessarily a bad gravy, just not my preferred consistency. The rice was good, and so were the sunny-side-up eggs. However, the eggs were cooked a little longer than I personally prefer. The yolks were approximately half solid and half runny. When I order sunny-side-up eggs, I like the yolks nice and runny so I can break them and mix everything together with the rice, hamburger patties, and gravy. Still enjoyable, but a slightly runnier yolk would have made it better for me. OVERALL EXPERIENCE Honu Poke & Grill offers a nice variety of Hawaiian-style poke along with other local favorites such as Loco Moco. The Hawaiian Shoyu and Hawaiian Limu poke tasted fresh, and I appreciated the homemade taste and seasoning of the Loco Moco patties. The gravy had good flavor despite being thinner than I prefer, and the eggs were just slightly overcooked for my liking. My biggest issue wasn't necessarily the food but the dining environment. Sitting inside a restaurant sweating while trying to enjoy lunch isn't exactly a comfortable experience. The lack of a customer restroom is another inconvenience worth mentioning. Would I come back? I would consider returning for the poke, but on another hot day, I'd probably opt for takeout rather than dining inside. Good food overall, with some room for improvement, especially when it comes to indoor comfort.

I would've wanted more Mac salad but I'm sure u can ask as a replacement for a rice scoop. I don't know if that'd be an extra cost. Service was excellent and the owner also puts in work along side his employees! What a G! We got the, Garlic shrimp/kalbi short ribs: - Shrimp was juicy and crunchy, VERY garlicky (delicious), fried so that reduces that tough shrimp shell. - kalbi were not too sweet, smoky from the grill and very tender. Roast pork/chicken katsu: -Chicken katsu was crunchy but needed some more flavor on its own. Must be eaten with sauce. - Hawaiian roast pork was so dang tender it was impressive. The gravy had this ingredient I couldn't point out but the taste was similar to a turkey gravy. - 1 drink. The total was upwards of ~$50. I would come back for more and try the poke. Why has no one told me about this gem??…read more As soon as you enter the restaurant, it feels like your grandparents home. I mean that as a compliment, follow my train of thought now. There is so much love, so much heart that is put into the food. Additionally, the amount of food is coma sending. I finished the food and was so ready to take a nap in the warm weather. It's literally like eating grandma's food when youre a young child. The spicy tuna came out first and we were shocked at how delicious the fish was. There wasn't a lot of rice which I appreciated and that fish had a bit of a kick. Pair that with some wasabi shoyu and you're tasting some real goodness. The spam musubi was solid with the furikake. My only gripe was that it had a bit too much rice which could have been better balanced with a thicker slice of spam. Regardless, it was solid. Now the star was the chicken combo. Boy oh boy, that Ladybug Fried Chicken was amazing. The batter had so much flavor and added to the juicy chicken. Pair that with you salad and mac salad.. oh my.. youre tasting a slice of Heaven! Fair warning, there is some grinded celery in the mac salad, so if youre allergic then let them know. Otherwise, that aroma of celery added so much depth to the mac. I can't emphasize enough, there is so much love in the food and the servers take gooooood care of you. It was also amazing to see how much attention to detail the owners put in the restaurant. There is ladybug decor all throughout the place and hand drawn papers from customers. It was really neat to see how much love they receive from their customers.
