When we heard there was a new buffet in Westlake, we showed up like it was a grand opening for us specifically. Your first mission is parking!! Don't be fooled like we almost were.... skip the paid lot and head to the FREE parking structure in the back like a seasoned insider. Already winning!!! You pay upfront (love that for my anxiety), and at about $21 for dinner/weekend pricing, it feels like you've just unlocked an all-you-can-eat side quest on a budget!! Now, the food. I got so excited seeing galbi ribs... like, emotional support level excited but only to be betrayed by how tough they were. Seriously, these ribs fought back!! Someone please introduce them to a bromelain or some other meat tenderizer!! There's a DIY Mongolian grill situation too, which should've been a slam dunk... but nope, same chewy energy!! At this point I was starting to think my jaw was part of the workout plan. BUT, redemption arc!!! The hot foods came through. The fried chicken wings were juicy, crispy, doing everything right in life!! I went back for those like I had something to prove. Sushi was fresh, hubby-approved, no notes. Overall vibe: solid buffet if you want variety without wrecking your wallet ($21 for all this is such a great deal). Just... maybe emotionally detach yourself from the galbi and skip the Mongolian grill unless you're feeling competitive with your food.

    Slushy ice cream

Food was mid, Ice creams was slushy which seems it's old, Cakes were dry & the creme puffs also seemed old. Service was okay I guess.. They took 10+ minutes to take our first round of plates & at all other buffets I've been to it's always taken less than 5 minutes, Drinks needed refills & they clearly saw so yet didn't ask or offer whilest again at other buffets they'll either just refill it or offer whenever they see it's almost empty. Ambiance was good place seemed modern & clean. Generally the food could use some improvement as some were not consistent in taste as I got some when I first arrived then before leaving I ate a little more of that food. (The chicken kabab I believe)

Free parking!! I went on Presidents' Day with my fam and price was reasonable. The food was good and was not salty like other buffets out there. The staff were great with picking up plates and cleaning tables. As all buffets can be, it was loud inside. They also have a party room on the side for reference. I believe the charge is $2.99 for sodas. We opted for water, tasted fine.

Weekend buffet is only $21 and there are crabs and crawfish aplenty. I really like the honey battered shrimps, white sugar sponge cake, and Chinese tamales. Majority of items exceed my expectations given the unassuming location. The desserts are delightful and not too sweet. Service is sufficient and facility is clean. Love that there is free garage parking which is so hard to find in this neighborhood. You pay upon entering the restaurant, where a 10% tip will be added on top of the buffet price. So glad there's finally a decent buffet within reasonable distance to me. Can't wait to come back for a weekday lunch.

They charged $3.50 for hot water Will not come back again

Had dinner with one adult and senior I had high expectations, as this place was advertised from news papers and online this Buffet is located at the previous Diamond buffet location by the corner of 7th street & Bonnie Brea St. My mother didn't like here I say little over average Chinese Buffet

Review #643 None Elite Squad I went on a NFL Playoff Sunday with a big party.. so... where do I start? lets start with location, lets be honest..its not the best location, the surrounding areas makes you think twice about leaving your car parked if itll still be there when you come back but luckily they have their own private indoor lot.. so thats a +. Service, Service consists of refills and getting your used dirty plates out of the way..and they do just that with no irritated faces, they do it with pleasure and are quick to see when you do need assistance. The Atmosphere .. just like every Asian Style Buffet..its crowded ..noisy but I did see something different compare to many other Asian style buffets.. I saw atleast 50% Asian Ethnicity dine-ins on that day so maybe thr food is authentic with taste so im giving a + there. The Food.. ummm.. just like most Buffets..not fresh and I wasnt too big on the options. Yes you got your traditional Chinese take out items like orange chicken, teriyaki chicken, beef broccoli etc.. but in my opinion besides the garlic green beans and beef broccoli..there really wasnt any veggie options. They have a Salad bar but again, its just lettuce, tomatoes and onions and dressings... The have Mongolian.. but pay attention to the chicken..its slimey, its not frozen like all Mongolian places..id be very careful!!! Sushi..not fresh but which Asian style buffet has fresh sushi? ice cream looks good but pay attention.. kids and adults when they scoop their own ice cream.. their knuckles rub against the ice cream inside the buckets ..and when they're done ..the water they put the scoops in... YUCK! Overall.. ill be super nice and give it a 3 stars but I saw alot of Safety hazards that I know a safety inspector might not like.. theyre super nice though but careful.

    Nice and clean

This restaurant is new and spacious. Everything looks clean and new. There are many traditional Chinese dishes. The food bar is constantly filled with freshly cooked food. I came at 11:45 am on Saturday and didn't have to wait for a table at all. Nice buffet restaurant for your next dine out!

Previously known as Diamond Buffet, I remember always coming with my mom pre-COVID. This time around, it's called CA Downtown Buffet. Anyways, I decided to stop by with my fiancée to see if this place is still hitting like it used to. Still cheap Mon-Friday, 11am-3pm. Lunch time: $14.99 per person, 10% service charge. Sadly, I'm here to tell you, the food was not very good. I started off with a plate of chow mein, beef broccoli, orange chicken, and some California rolls. Chow mein was cold, orange chicken was not very good, and well, the beef broccoli was probably my favorite thing out of this plate. The California rolls were fine, tasted just fine. Since the chow mein was cold, I decided to try the Mongolian. I want to make a quick comment; just please keep an eye out for their tongs. Some of them had raw chicken/shrimp when they were for the noodles or one of the vegetables. Plus, (Chicken & Shrimp looked very slimey. Just be careful, please.) So I went with some meat. They cooked it, took about 5-10 minutes. At least the noodles were at least hot this time. Overall, the Mongolian wasn't bad, but definitely I've had better. It was decent at most. The meat quality was subpar. At this point, I was giving up on the place, but I got up and got one more plate with pizza, garlic bread, California rolls, and one Chinese chicken skewer. The skewer was tasty, sweet, and savory. Garlic bread tasted just fine, and the pizza was okay, tasted like your regular frozen pizza. Overall, this place isn't what it used to be. The food isn't like I remember. They might have free parking. It looks clean, ambiance is ok, and looks like they have a good selection of food from far away, but don't be fooled. Service was okay. It doesn't help that it took them about 15-20 minutes to refill our sodas. I really wanted to love this place. I was happy to hear it had re-opened, but I probably won't be back and won't be bringing my mom here.

In LA this weekend 6/2026…read more Yesterday 6/27 we visited here for dinner, nice place food was good, they had a lot of snow crabs my boyfriend was cracking most legs and didn't have much meat in them. I decided to go with the Mongolian hot bar I piled on cabbage, all vegetables with one egg and house sauce. I tried the fruit the watermelon and cantaloupe wasn't sweet, however, the honeydew was really yummy. They have a boba drink station I tried the passion tea it was good. My boyfriend tried their desserts he liked the three layer mouse cake. I wasn't aware the Restaurant in LA charge a 10% service fee when I saw it on the bill I immediately was going to question it however, I googled first and basically the restaurants have to post it before charging you. When we walked in we didn't notice the signs on the wall if you don't pay attention you will miss the notice as you walk in. The 10% is to help the owner offset gratuity and healthcare for the employees so you have no choice but to pay it even if you didn't see the posting on the wall. They also have a sign to say a tip is not required because of the service fee.

Came here with classmates to celebrate ourselves, and why not with the abundance of food at Gourmet City. One of our classmates recommended this place and glad she did because I am not going to stop coming here after this. Where do I start? Upon entrance you are greeted by a lovely marble floor and grandiose chandelier and beautiful sign. The place is clean and very open, plates and drinks are open and all station very kept up with. My mongolian grille plate was soooo good and cooked to order(added jalapenos, bell peppers red&green, mushrooms, cabage, garlic and beef. It was so delicious! Second plate, was good to LOL a lottttttt of crab legs which the price for itself at this point, Shrimp broil style, thai style, scampi. Theres pasta, ribs, salad. But also desserts like ie chocolate fountain OMG, jello and the fresh fruit was so delicious. I waited all day for this place and Im so glad I did. I had a little bit of everything and cant wait to bring my son and husband. Servers were attentive, served water and utensils at all times. Parking was easy at 330ish time but I can imagine it could get difficult. Thank you!

Opening in 1998, Paradise Chinese Buffet in Montebello is the original of the four Paradise brands…read morein the LA area. This location was recently named one of three LA area buffets in the top 150 in the country, based on Google reviews. I've been to a lot of buffets (Chinese and otherwise), and this was near the top, especially based on the price. We came about 30 minutes after its 11 am opening, and the place was already packed with a line waiting to get in. You pay first, getting water and soda cups at checkout (plates are plentiful near the buffet itself). Emmelyn was the check-in associate, and she was joyful and friendly, putting a smile on my wife's face after a stressful drive through LA traffic. We found out that my wife's lunch was free because it was her birthday. Lunch pricing is $15.19 (M-F), minus $1 for seniors and military. Refillable soda is $2.99. It's find your own seating, and we grabbed the first seats we could find. -- being super crowded meant the food was constantly being replenished and kept fresh. It also meant a lot of line (inadvertent) line cutting and careful, slow movements...need to be careful for sure. -- the taste of the food was good, mainly because most things were turning over quickly. However, the selection of dishes wasn't huge, and the soups didn't look too good. -- I focused on the sushi and was satisfied. They had different type simple rolls and nigiri, with soy sauce at each table. They also had a bottle of eel sauce to douse your rolls with more, if you want. Towards the end, discovered a New Zealand green mussel dish in a hot chili sauce, which I took full advantage of. -- the must get is the Mongolian Grill, which dominates the center of the restaurant. There were three types of sliced frozen meat (beef, chicken, pork), a variety of vegetables (including my favorite, baby corn), and various runny sauces that you pour on top when done. Once your bowl is complete, you need to give it to the operator. But here its a bit different: it operates on a unique system that I've only seen here. In the front counter, there are 20 spots where numbered pager sits. Once a person fills up a bowl with raw ingredients, they place it on the next available pager spot, taking the pager with them. Once the food is cooked, the pager goes off. You then exchange the bowl in your spot, with the pager...and the cycle continues. I asked myself what would happen if all 20 pagers were taken, and decided if that happened, you would have to wait since there would be no more space on the grill for your plate anyway. The system worked really well, with all three of us taking advantage of it. Taste wise, I've had better but certainly not for that price. And I just love the efficiency of it all. -- soft serve ice cream was available, and it was very thick and creamy (though a bit off in taste). My wife also mentioned that you can get cotton candy as well. -- Service was good, with an employee in a hostess outfit personally letting us know that she was there to assist us, including getting drinks. She did clear dishes when necessary, but also seemed to be supervising our section. What's interesting is that the same report mentioned King Buffet in Garden Grove, which now seems to be another branch of the Paradise chain. So need to be leery of such reports not being current...but in this case, following its suggestion paid off.

As for the service, they pride themselves on being friendly and attentive to what we need. Fuji itself was probably like 40-50% occupied and there was plenty of parking. For $37 (and 20% for seniors on Mon/Tues), I thought it was pretty worth for the amount of food we ate. - Korean rib (grill): thinly cut, tender, and nicely marinated (even when you don't ask for any special sauces). so yummy to eat it fresh off the grill - snow crab: i prefer eating this hot than chilled, and it hit the spot! meaty, sweet crab. they refilled this often - cajun seafood: not too salty! includes mussels, shrimps, thin corn cobs which I actually prefer - crawfish: nicely marinated and tasty but dry meat ); parents said the last time they had this here a month ago it was better - salmon sashimi was also restocked and tasted fresh - Fish maw soup/chowder: both were tasty as well - matcha ice cream: yummm - lots of fresh fruit options: blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew, grapes, cherries even Other selections are standard and not bad.
